After killing there king the many rats raided his junk heap of a home and made off with all the food that seemed to have been stockpiled inside. My roots were completely ignored as the rats passed. I was tempted to wipe out the remain rats. However, I feel bad... I mean seriously they've been starving and lost thousands of there own people to there king and some unknown force... Me... I mean... At least let them eat and have one good day... especially if they aren't gonna continue trying to kill me. Or you know... attack my roots. I would guess the only way for me to actually die is if my main body were to be destroyed. Speaking of... It's almost here isn't it... I guess I can test out some of my new skills while I wait for it to finish it's long journey. I moved my point of view to the walls. This new vision skill seems to work about the same but it's almost like I can see more... Idk it's not really that different but eh... continued growth am I right? I start by trying to make fruit that can actually be eaten on all the roots that had completely consumed the walls. I was able to make quite a lot... Before long most of the wall had been completely covered in them. For some reason the roots even began to grow the fruit on there own... Now I just need a test subject... Good thing I got a lot of *cough* lab rats... Ok maybe that's a little messed up... What ever... I move my vision over to a nearby rat and quickly wrap it up in my roots making sure they don't crush it or try to dig into it seeing as that's a thing they do. For some reason while the rat I picked up freaked out and tried to escape it was very careful not to bite me and all the other rats looked at there friend being picked up then simply turned back to there food. After a minute or two I had finally carried the rat to the edge of the city... Honestly how did these rats manage to make such a huge city. I brought the rat to the wall and sat it down and aimed it at the wall it stood staring inquisitively at the wall for a few minutes.
I got bored... I swatted at the rats butt with my root and it screeched and ran to the wall. It seemed to understand somewhat what I wanted from it as it grabbed a fruit and ate it before grabbing another and waddling back towards it's people. Before it had even escaped my sight the two fruit had already regenerated.
I guess that means it's not poisoned... Good to know... Or it's just slower then my previous poison because it's not made from my main body... I resign myself to following the rat as it slowly moved back... well honestly because I'm so slow it was kinda running from my perspective but it was only walking back. It didn't seem to be slowing down any or suffering from any damage... So I just continued to follow the rat until it reached the other rats and handed one of the feasting rats the fruit it had carried... well handed implies there were hands involved... More spit it at him... Her? I honestly don't care what there genders are... Do I have a gender? I wonder if there are other trees like me should I try to find them? Wait... I can't mate... I have no genitals... I don't have flowers either... For a plant usually a flower is the way they mate... But... Fruit are a seed produce by flowers... Are they eating my babies? As I was wondering this in the background thousands of rats were racing towards the wall... Was my fruit that good? Weird... Many of the rats stayed behind but most were now rushing to the walls...
I watched as the rats had there feast. By the time they had finished they all moved to there own dens... So I moved my vision to my main body... I just realized... Do plants sleep? I don't think I need sleep... Weird... Well let's be honest... That's probably the least weird part of my experience so far... Like how I can't die... Well I guess I can die... I just kinda get reborn each time? That's... kinda weird... I shouldn't be able to remember past lives should I? What even am I really? That shapeless mess only seem to hold one defining characteristic that was steady and that was my eyes... Which as a plant I guess I don't have... Wait... Does my vision skill produce what looks like floating eyeballs? That'd be super creepy... after that thought I immediately started moving my vision around the outside of my root cocoon to test to see if my roots are being covered in eyes but nothing. Anyways... Finally my main body is at the root wall that blocks the cavern entrance. I immediately part the roots and drag my cocoon through before closing it again. I keep moving the cocoon while looking for a suitable place to place my main body... I had a little bit of trouble closing the root wall because of the thousands of feet of roots I forgot my main body had uprooted and began to drag... Whoops... Anyways after I had moved all of them into the cavern I immediately started construction on a root tower in the center of the massive cavern. About half way up a seat for my main body still in it's cocoon below it roots laid according to some random knowledge about construction that I for some reason had... What the hell was I before I became this thing? So weird... The roots along the ceiling began to descend hoisting up the main bodies cocoon like a crane pulling it into place as the other roots continued constructing my tower. Once the cocoon was in place I started constructing the tower with the roots on the ceiling downwards. After what felt like hours I had finally finished and the entire tower was built and I could now get a pretty good view with my main body... Speaking of I should probably take it out of the cocoon now...
As I moved over to the cocoon I began unraveling the roots around it... Once all the roots were gone... I stared at the thing that was inside... Is that me? But... Wait...
