Chapter 1 - Crow Day

Tessa walked in through the sliding hospital doors. She walked up to the front desk where you signed in to visit someone. She grabbed the blacked ink pen that had a virtual purple flower at the end of it, she signed her name.

Tessa then wrote down her boyfriend's name and the room she was told he was in. The hospital's main entrance made it look inhospitable, but the rest was depressing.

When you walked in through the doors, the first thing you see is the big sign-in desk. It was a golden wood colored desk with a giant waterfall painting behind it. To the right of the desk was a giant escalator that ran soundlessly and smoothly. To the left of the desk was a small waiting area with small couches, chairs, and a huge flat screen tv. The lights overhead bathed the room in a golden light.

Tessa walked over to the escalator and stepped onto the first moving step. Tessa looked at the reflection of her distorted face, light brown curly hair, and the overhead lights in the side of the escalator right above where she placed her hand. She stepped off when she reached the next floor. The escalator continued for the many floors to the left of that one. Since humans were too lazy to step off and walked to the next one, the stairs flattened and turned to the next inclined.

Walking down the hallway to her right she looked at each number on the virtually screen that showed the room number and the names of the patients inside. There were usually two patients to a room so Grey had a roommate. Hopefully it was a girl. Tessa could feel a twist in her stomach just at the thought of Grey's roommate being a girl.

She reached the door numbered 118. Above the door read "Grey Zelio" "Ivan Sniper", so his roomate isnt a girl, the twisting in Tessa's stomach stopped from worrying about that topic. Of course she was still worried about Grey. He had been in a terrible accident where his ankle had been cut all the way to the bone. It wasn't exactly life threatening but he could lose his foot.

She knocked on the door and heard come in from inside the room and walked in. There was a small hallway that opened up into a room. On the right side of the hallway was the bathroom, and after you get out of the hallway following the left wall was a mini fridge, countertops and a sink. Then there was a closet in the corner of the room. The wall ends a little bit after the bathroom door, and there was a bed in that corner, where Ivan seemed to be asleep, the end of his leg, he didn't have a foot, was covered in bandages. Across the room was another bed where Grey was laying down on and reading a book.

"Hey," Tessa spoke softly so that she didn't awake Ivan. "How are you doing?"

"Aright," Grey responded, but Tessa could tell that he wasn't alright since he would usually be more happy and talkative around her. His face was expressionless and he hasn't even looked up from his book since she entered. He could just be really interested in the book, Tessa reassured herself. Or he this depressed place could be affecting him. He hasn't lost interest in you it's just his circumstances at the moment is making him sad. Yes that's it, he's just sad. You need to cheer him up.

Tessa walked up to the edge of the bed and sat down by his feet. She placed her hand on his leg, she felt him flinch under her touch but decided to ignore it. She rubbed his leg through the blanked. She asked him about his book, and again he only answered her with "Alright".

She tried again to ask what the book was about but she only got a muffled sound from him. He must just be tired, Tessa thought. Look at this place who wouldn't be depressed by it. He's probably also in a lot of pain. I just need to cheer him up and give him time to become more happy again.

Tessa stopped rubbing his leg, and grabbed a notebook of the side table that was next to a bunch of markers. They wouldn't allow pens or pencils, so he had to use markers. Tessa picked up the blue maker and wrote in the notebook. She wrote her thoughts that she would normally tell him through text. How are you? What did you do today? I love you. She wrote in her eligible but sloppy handwriting.

She handed the notebook, opened to the page she wrote, back to Gray. He didn't even look at the page as he closed it and set it back on the table.

She made another attempt to get him to talk, "Do you like your roommate?"

Again, she was answered with a grunted response from her beloved. He must not be able to stand her anymore. No, he still loves her. The why isn't he responding. He's just depressed. Or is he? Unable to stand her thoughts anymore, Tessa asked so quietly she thought he didn't hear, "Do you not want me anymore?"

Finally, some response other than a grunt was given as Gray looked up at her. He just stared at her face as tears started to drip down her face. She was crying. He didn't do anything but stared at her as she cried. He doesn't care. The realization hit her in the gut. The tears ran down her face in steady, warm streams. She quickly stood from the room and ran towards the door, whipping at her face.

"Sorry! Sorry for everything!" She sobbed back as she ran out of her room. What exactly did she do to make him stop caring for her. Was it something she did, or was he trying to get this reaction from her? Why does it hurt so much? Why doesn't she go end her pain?

Right she still had Fawn, her best friend, he surely till cared for her. She ran into the hospital's guest bathroom and locked herself in a stall. She let the tears stream down her face as she pulled out her phone.

She texted Fawn her emotions and told him what had happened. He responded a few times with 'oh' which felt like a knife sliced her hearty everytime. But what really killed her was when he asked 'why are you telling me this?' as she read the text her whole body froze. The tears stopped. Her lungs stopped breathing. Her heart beat. She stopped.

Everything stopped and she was alone. She was by herself. It didn't matter anymore. She wasn't hurt. She wasn't sad. She was mad or scared or happy. She was nothing. Her feelings had stopped. So she was going to stop, As soon as she got out of this hospital and towards the nearest bridge. She could walk out in the road but there was no guarantee that would work. Instead the roof of the hospital would be a much better idea.

She dried her eyes with her sleeve.

She headed out of the bathroom. She headed for the stairs. She walked up each flight of stairs. Stair after stair, she climb. She walked up reached the stairs. She walked and walked. Up all the floors. All 29 floors till she reached the 30th. The hospital was only the bottom 3 floors, the rest were different business and shops.

She was on the roof. Beyond the concrete roof was a gray sea of clouds. It looked angry, but really it was just as empty as her. Like her, it looked like a storm, but really it was just a show and everything was empty. There will be no storm. There will be no more rain. No. More. Tears. No more of anything for both Tessa and the sea of clouds in front of her.

Before she could take a step onto the concrete that stretched out before a sudden drop into the clouds, a siren rang out from a speaker above her. The loud wail of it made her cover her ears from it's harsh cries.

A female voice broke through the wailing static of noise, "All… evac..ate...Dang…." Suddenly the faded voice of a female turned to the deep voice of a male.

All the staic was gone and in the speaker came through a male voice that was confusional formulalar to Tessa, "Disregarded her, Folks. I am now your Director. Please create as much havoc and chaos in the building as you wish. But DO NOT go outside. If you go outside you will immediately be killed. Thank you. Have a nice Crow Day."

What did that mean? Tesa stood frozen in the doorway repaying the words in her head. She heard a loud, clanging noises from down the stairs on the floor beneath her, then yelling. She looked behind her and down the stairs. Should she go down stairs? She was curious about the noises she heard and she also wanted to figure out what was happening and why. She figured the best way was to find out, so she went down the stairs
