Chapter 11 - Royal advisor

They were going to protect their sister from the big stupid emperor.

"Are you sure about this?" Lupus asked nervously as he watched his sister work her 'present' for the Soleil advisor.

"Big brother Rigel his failed mission. It's up to us now." Seren said with determination lighting in her eyes. Clenching her hands over her tool, before continuing her work on the present. Flinching Lupus looked at his sister with slight fear in his eyes watching as his sister let out a chuckling laugh.

"Seren, Lupus. Are you in here?" A voice called out from behind the closed bedroom door. Wide eyes the two twins gazed at one another before Seren quickly finished the present putting it inside a medium-sized box. The two moved in front of the box, blocking it from you just in time as the door creaked open. Sliding the door open the two let out a small sigh in relief when Rigel peeked his head put from around the door.

"What are you two trouble-making twins up to?" Rigel gazed at the two with a raised eyebrow noticing the small panic visible in their eyes.

"Nothing." Seren smiled innocently at her older brother. Nervously Lupus stared up at Rigel with a shy gaze.

"Doesn't seem like nothing," Rigel smirked walking into the room. His tall height easily allowing him to look over the twins' small statue. Seeing the box the two were trying to hide Rigel couldn't help a strange feeling of pride. Kneeling to their height Rigel ruffled the top of both the twins' hair. The two looked up at their older brother with wide eyes watching their brother's smirking face turn into a more warm genuine smile.

"You two wish to protect your sister, showing the very pride of our family. To not only protect our people but to protect one another. One star alone is strong but it's when we're together we are shine brighter than the sun." The twins' eyes widen at their brother's words. Seren's eyes filled with a small sense of anger as she clenched her fists looking down at the ground.

"But we're so small. How can we protect anyone? Big sister, mother, father...How are we going to protect them? I wish we'd grow up faster. "

"Seren..." Lupus looked over at his older twin worriedly before their brother placed his hand on Seren's shoulder.

"I understand how you feel. But we shouldn't rush something like growing up. Growing up grows the knowledge and power of a person. And someday you'll be able to look back with pride how much you've grown. King's father taught us those words once." Rigel smiled at the twins.

"Were, big brother Sirius, big sister, and you the same?" Lupus questioned shyly.

"Yes, I was just as frustrated as you two to grow quickly. It was brother Sirius who understood father's words more. But times were different then. In order to protect our kingdom father trained Brother Sirius, Celesti, and myself much younger. That's why we want you two to live your childhood years much freer. That's what the three of us want for you too." Rigel confessed to the twins who looked at one another before reaching out to grab a hold of their brother's hand.

"Did it hurt?" They questioned their brother who's eyes widen at their question. His mind freezing for a moment as the flashback of the sound of swords clashing with one echoed in his mind. Forcing a smile Rigel smoothed their heads.

"It was a long time ago. The empire needed us then. Years from now the empire will need the help of the twin stars. The Gemini." Rigel's smile became more amused as he watched a feeling of excitement run through the twins eyes.

"Now, why don't you two get ready before mother becomes frantic." Rigel ruffled the twin's hair before standing up. Walking out the room, he paused at the doorway. His eyes looking over at the twins discussing with one another. His smile becoming sadder as the image of three young siblings appeared in place of the twins before vanishing with the wind. Stepping out, Rigel closed the door gently behind him. Leaning against the door he let out a sigh pushing his hair strands back. A burning sensation filled in his chest.

"It might have been a long time ago but the nightmares remain."
