Chapter 5 - Day 2

I chuckles as I watch Sally cling to Sam's hand nervously, but also smiling.

"Well you were right," he says, smiling at me.

"I told you," I say chuckling.

I introduce the parents and students to Mrs. Hemphry and Mrs. Rose before going on with my lessons for today. We are doing out art class and I told the students to just draw whatever came to mind and everyone does the usual little kid drawings, that is everyone except Sally.

"That is very impressive Sally," I say going up to her.

"Thank you. It's a picture of me and daddy, she says smiling.

"Sally you forgot your daddy's face," I say, pointing to the picture.

"Oh right!" she giggles, drawing in a face.

"So you like the woods?" I ask her.

"Oh yes very much!" she giggles, smiling.

"As do I. Oh I know," I say smiling and standing up. "Class how many of you would like to go for an adventure during recess today?"

All of the students grin at me with shining eyes and I laugh and help them get ready. I then lead them to a small park near the woods where I always do our annual scavenger hunt, but figure today would be a good day to do it.

"Okay I want a group of four each and we are doing a scavenger hunt. I would wait till later but feel like now is a good time to do it," I say smiling.

"Yay! Will it be in the woods?!" Sally asks.

"Yes it will. Now there is a fence around the area so no one try to go past it okay?" I say.

"Yes Ms. L/N," the students say in unison.

"Are you sure that's safe Ms. L/N?" Sam asks me frowning.

"Don't worry it's not a big area. I will be able to see all of them no matter where I am," I say. "I've done this many times and haven't had an accident yet except for a skinned knee here or there."

I hand each group of four their small list of six items to find and everyone begins searching for the items. They have to find a leaf, a small box, a bag of candy, a golden ticket in a metal box, a stick, and a note taped to a tree. Yes I stole the note idea from the game Slender but the notes are just drawings of animals, not of creepypastas. I watch all of the students search and chuckle when the groups run into each other. After thirty minutes all the groups come back with their items and I congratulate them and take them for ice cream.
