Chapter 6 - Day 3: Science and Awkward Questions

"Daddy please just stay next to me?" Sally asks, her green eyes shining.

"Alright, but you'll have to get used to me being gone at some point," Sam points out.

"Never! You stay by me all the time!" she pouts, crossing her arms and stomping her foot.

"Sals," he says, shaking his head.

"Two more days Sam," I say, winking as I walk past him with a tote for our science project.

"I swear you're wrong," he says.

"We'll see," I say laughing. "Alright. Today is our science class and we are going to make color changing milk!"

"Color changing milk?" the students ask me confused.

"Y/N you do this every year. It gets stupid," Mrs. Rose mumbles.

"I think it is still fascinating," I mumble back before turning back to the kids.

"Okay partner up while I lay out the ingredients on the table," I say smiling.

"WOW!" the students exclaim as I show them how to do the experiment.

I laugh as I watch everyone eagerly attempt it and are still just as fascinated if not more so when they do it themselves. I smile when they beg me to try different drinks and I laugh as I show them different reactions.

"Now when you go home you can tell your parents why the milk moves," I say smiling and finishing my lesson just as the bell rings.

"That was very impressive," Sam says, coming up to me with Sally.

"Oh it was nothing," I say smiling at him and loading papers into my bag.

"No I'm serious. I learned something new today," he says laughing. Well I'm glad I could teach you as well," I say chuckling.

"Ms. L/N do you like my daddy?" Sally asks, looking at me.

"Yes I do Sally. He is a very nice man and seems like a very good father," I say smiling at her.

"Would you date him?" she asks, innocently.

"Oh I um," I start to say, blushing.

"Sally! I'm so sorry Ms. L/N, she heard her brother talking about how I needed to get a date and has been trying to pair me up with someone ever since. We best be going come on Sals," he says, ushering the child out of the classroom.

"Would I date Sam?" I ask myself, blushing and pondering the question.
