Chapter 1 - Day 1

Your Pov

I watch as a tall man in a business suit tries to drop off a very energetic and happy little girl, but she appears to be extremely shy and will not let go of her hand.

"No daddy don't make me go!" she cries, clinging to his hand.

"Sally you promised me you wouldn't make a scene," he says sighing.

"But I don't like it here! I wanna go home," she says, tears coming to her big green eyes.

"Saaalllyyy," he says, kneeling down to her height.

"Need a little help?" I ask, chuckling and walking up to them.

"Gah a human!" she squeals, running and hiding behind the man.

"Sally," he groans, face palming.

"Give it a week," I say, chuckling and taking the little girl's backpack from his hands and hanging it on the hook under her name.

"What?" he asks surprised, picking up the little girl.

"Give it a week," I repeat, smiling softly. "Today she'll scream and cry because she doesn't want you to go, tomorrow she'll cling to your hand, the third day she'll make you stand next to her, the fourth day she'll look over her shoulder to make sure you're still in the room, and on the last day she won't even care that you're gone," I say, assisting other parents with their kids.

"Really?" I ask, following her to a classroom.

"Oh yeah. She said the same thing to me last year with my little Scotty and by the end of the week he could have cared less that I was gone," a mom says, following us with a little boy on her hip.

"You make them feel safe and as they get used to their surroundings they'll learn to feel safe around here too," I say, smiling.

"Thanks," he says, chuckling.

I smile and help the other parents with their little kids before everyone has arrived and is settled into the classroom.

"Hello parents, my name is Y/N L/N, but please just call me Ms. L/N. I am one of three teachers at this elementary school and I can assure you that your kids will receive the best education I could possibly provide," I say, smiling.

"Is it true you also do a babysitting service?" one of the parents asks.

"Yes it is. At the end of the school day we have a babysitting service that goes till five thirty in case you are late picking up your child or can't find a babysitter. Our fee is five dollars an hour per child," I say. "Any other questions?"

All of the parents shake their heads and I shake the hands of the ones who are able to leave. I chuckle and get the kids started while the parents who weren't able to leave quietly talk amongst each themselves as I teach my class.

"Okay. What do you want to do first?" I ask my students.

"Ms. L/N?" a brown haired girl asks, raising her hand.

"Yes Melody?" I ask, smiling softly.

"Can we play superheroes?" she asks.

"Of course we can. Why don't you show everyone to the dress up room," I say, smiling.

"Yay!" she squeals as she leads everyone out of the classroom.

I chuckle when Sally goes over to her dad and takes his hand while shyly leading him after the other kids, and laugh when the other little kids who clung to their parents pull the same gesture. All of the kids are going through the chests of costumes and I go over to the closet where I keep my super villain costume. I slip on the black robe and wig of bright orange hair and quickly place it on.

"Mwahahahaha! I am the super villain Salamander!" I say once all of the kids are dressed in their chosen costumes.

"We shall vanquish you with our powers," Sally declares, wielding a wand.

"No on can defeat me," I grin, lifting up my hands.

"Melody make a protective barrier!" Sally giggles.

I chuckle as I pretend to shoot fire at the kids and they repel my attacks and perform barriers around each other. I then roll red balls at the children, declaring them as my salamander side kicks, and some of them pretend to be hit and die while others repel them. I chuckle and pretend that I don't notice some of the children 'sneaking' behind me and continue walking forward.

"NOW!" Sally yells as the children surround me and pretend to attack me.

"Nooooo!" I say, slowly falling to the ground. "Curse you superheroes!"

"We have defeated the Salamander," they all declare, falling over and giggling.
