Elliot couldn't help but take a step back and felt chills down his spine, he knew the hyena was barking but it sounded just like a crazy human laughing and it creeped him out.
The hyena didn't give him any rest and when it saw him taking a step back it judged that he had lowered his guard and jumped at him. The monster flew at least 5 meters above the ground and used the momentum of the fall to bring its huge paws toward Elliot's neck.
Elliot finally understood how these guys had been able to run away from the hyena, it obviously had a huge strength but it was quite slow... he moved aside and waited for the beast to touch the ground before he could stab it with the scissors claw dagger but what he didn't expect was that the monster was way stronger than he could have imagined !
BOOOM
Although it wasn't very big, when it's paw touched the ground Elliot felt like a fragmentation grenade had been dropped next to him and he was blown a few meters away. The ground shook and fissured on a 10 meters radius !
The commotion below finally attracted the attention of the guy above, he looked over and his eyes grew as wide as saucers.
"Hey guys come here !"
"Let me die in peace..."
The other people didn't say anything and just stayed there but one of them approached to check what was going on.
"Eh...?"
The two guys looked at each other and were obviously confused, first what was that weird attire that the human below was wearing and second, why was he fighting the monster ?
"He just got blown away, he probably will die from the next attack."
The bulky guy who was sitting at the entrance of the cave since earlier said, his friend didn't say anything and just nodded. Their party members who had been sitting at the back finally grew curious and they decided to check what their friends were looking at.
The party was made of three guys and two girls, everyone in the group had tanned skin and an asian face so they must have all came from somewhere around Southern Asia such as Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam or somewhere around there.
Meanwhile Elliot was focused on the fight, at first he wanted to let the hyena hit him to try his defense while wearing the armor but after seeing its destructive power he changed his mind, first he didn't want to die of course and second even if he didn't die he didn't want to waste the armor that he was planning to sell when he left this place, he didn't know it's value yet but he guessed he would go back with ten thousands dollars at least.
The hyena didn't seem like it needed any rest and jumped back up right away, Elliot felt like it's huge teeth were completely useless to it since it kept jumping up and down. This time he didn't risk staying in range and dashed outside of the 10 meters radius straight away, he believed that when the hyena landed would be his chance to attack.
BOOOOM
As he heard the loud landing sound Elliot instinctively thought about the "Explosive boost" skill attached to the armor and the skill was triggered.
"Explosive boost" : movement speed +100% for one second, cooldown : 30 seconds, mana cost : 0.
Elliot took a step forward and felt like his body had been boosted by a rocket engine attached to his back, in a second he was standing face to face with the hyena. Both him and the monster got surprised by the unexpected situation but even though he didn't expect it to be so fast he was still kind of ready so he jumped over it and sliced down at the hyena's neck with the dagger, he felt the dagger going in the skin and it started cutting but the hyena even though it was slow had good reflexes and lied down on the ground.
Elliot landed on his feet on the other side of the monster and looked back.
'The dagger is sharp enough to easily cut through its skin, all I need is an opening so that I can aim for a weak point.'
Although aiming for its throat sounded like the best way to kill it that was without taking into account its long and sharp teeth that acted as a shield so his plan was to temporise for thirty other seconds until Explosive boost was available again and he would aim once again for its neck !
While Elliot was focused on thinking of a strategy to take down the monster, the group above was looking at him with dumbfounded expressions, they had been chased by this monster for kilometers and they had tried fighting back once but just seeing that explosive power they got so scared that they forgot about fighting and just looked for a hiding place.
Now however a single man was fighting against the monster and it didn't seem like he was in a disadvantage at all, every time the hyena jumped high, he would jump back very fast and avoid its AOE.
"How can he jump 10 meters backwards without any momentum ? That's humanly impossible !"
One of the guys looking at the fight said, of course it was weird seeing movements like these, this fight in front of them looked like a scene straight ouf of a Hollywood blockbuster movie !
"Look at his weird attire, isn't he someone from this world instead of someone who came with us ?"
"I never heard about humans living here tho... maybe we are the first ones to encounter one ?"
"There is no doubt about that ! Even humans from this world are a lot stronger than us from earth ! What if they decided to invade us ?"
"Humph! What could they do ? He's strong but using a dagger, he would be down in a second against a gun."
While the people above where making up theories about Elliot's identity the cooldown of Explosive boost was over and Elliot disappeared from where he was standing, this time he didn't hesitate and jumped over the monster.
The difference this time was that the hyena had less time to react because Elliot threw away all hesitation and also he changed from slashing to stabbing, he poked the dagger straight into the monster's neck and the momentum of his jump made him keep going, the dagger cut through the hyena's backbone.
As usual the soul of the monster dropped and without losing time Elliot took it, he didn't know if the people above saw it or not but he didn't care much.
