"A quest ?"
Elliot focused on the newly appeared pop up and he had read it right, he was just given a quest !
[Class quest acquired.
When ready to undergo your class quest please press this button, your class will be attributed to you automatically depending on your natural affinity and your result on the test.]
Elliot looked at the pop up nervously, he would be tested ? What kind of test ? Would he have to fight huge monsters ? All sorts of questions were rising in his mind and he couldn't decide if he wanted to undergo that test or delay it.
After thinking about it for awhile he guessed this test was meant to be undergone at the level 10, he didn't have any proof but it was similar to most games. You either chose your class when you created your character or you had to accomplish a quest later in the game to acquire your class. And very often game developers likes to put these quests around round numbered levels such as 10, 20, 100 and so on.
'Since I leveled up straight from level 9 to 12 I'll have a 2 levels advantage compared to other people, also my luck is pretty good and I have very good equipments. Let's hope my theory is right !'
With no more hesitation Elliot presses the button to start the quest and the world around him started fading. After a few seconds he wasn't sitting in the grotto anymore but inside a building, the floor Elliot as sitting on was made of cold stone tiles.
He stood up in a rush and pulled the scissors claw dagger, when he was ready to react to a surprise attack he started looking around himself. The walls were covered with paintings and wall carpets, the room was very wide and huge rows of pillars towered on both sides of him. In the middle of the pillars there was a red carpet that led all the way to a throne.
'A throne room ? This is a castle, I wonder if I'm still in the breach's world...'
Although Elliot had questions he was more curious about what would happen next. Behind him was a beautifully carved wooden door so he walked towards it and tried pushing it, since there was nobody in this throne room he decided to see if going out was the next step to take but the door couldn't be pushed open at all. With Elliot's strength he should be able to push a door of this size without any effort at all but even after giving it his all he wasn't able to !
'So is the quest's clear condition in this room ?'
Finally instead of just looking around the room from where he was Elliot decided to walk around it and try to find something that might make the quest advance to the next step. After examining slowly every painting and wall carpet Elliot was left with only the throne to the front.
The throne had a wonderful design, it was made out of wood and had pretty red cushions around the butt and the back, both armrests were in the shape of dragons looking straight at Elliot.
The pressure he felt in front of the throne was something he had felt before, when he took a step inside the forest that same day Elliot felt a pressure of the same caliber, it was different in nature but both were of equivalent strength.
The pressure he felt inside the forest gave off a demonic vibe, it was the closest thing to murderous intent he had ever felt. The pressure he felt now was a type of aloof presence as if a king was sitting in front of him and just looked at him from the corner of his eye without caring much.
"I don't like being looked down upon, whoever you are show yourself !"
The situation and the permanent pressure made Elliot angry and he couldn't help but yell towards the empty throne.
"Hahaha how interesting! How long has it been since I've meet such a reckless young person ?"
A husky and loud voice suddenly sounded in the throne's room, it sounded like it belonged to an old man and it gave off a very tranquil vibe.
Elliot looked around himself but couldn't see anyone, the room was as empty as it was before, suddenly he looked towards the throne and saw a silhouette materializing on it.
The silhouette went from a formless shadow to the form of a human and then started being infused by colors, finally an old man with extremely long blonde hair was sitting on the throne with his chin resting on his fist and his eyes were locked onto Elliot, he was dressed in a golden armor carved with dragons on both shoulders, Elliot had never seen someone emitting such a noble and powerful aura !
The pressure he felt a minute ago suddenly became ten times stronger and he felt his legs starting to shake, he didn't like this feeling of powerlessness but he couldn't do anything so he looked at the old man and said
"What do you want ?"
"Hahah don't be so hasty young man, how about you tell me your name first ?"
"I'll tell you if you stop applying this annoying pressure on me."
The old man was surprised by how calm Elliot was even when under such circumstances, he smiled and stopped pressuring him.
"Sorry hahah I forgot I was in front of a weak young man."
'Weak ? I guess he's got the right to call me that when he can pressure me so much without even moving.'
Elliot finally stood straight and answered the old man.
"Evans Elliot, this is my name."
"Very good, I wouldn't usually personally preside the class acquisition quest of anybody but for some reason they asked me to come so I'll be your supervisor for the test young Elliot."
"What kind of test will I have to go through ?"
"Don't worry, actually it's a very easy test. A normal human would almost be able to pass it, the question is how high can you score."
Elliot finally left out a breath of relief, although his family was fine for some time with the money of the armor he still couldn't die in this place. Obviously it was also for himself, he had finally seen an opportunity to live a comfortable life and was decided on surviving and growing stronger until he became the strongest.
"The test will be as follow..."
