Chapter 9 - Sleep

"Hey!"

A voice broke me free from my thoughts.

I notice that it's been happening a lot lately.

I turn to see a fey dressed in clean clothes. She had a smiling face as she ran towards me.

She seemed pretty normal to me.

Two wings, green skin, no outstanding features.

"Hi! I'm Thread, nice to meet you! Me and my family are housing some fey this time. Could you please follow me to the rest of the group?"

She looks at me with a hopeful expression.

"Um, sure?"

I say uncertainly.

"Great!"

She clasps my hand in hers and we start moving in a certain direction.

I noticed, as we were walking that she was wearing gloves. They felt like silk and looked like they were made fairly well.

I didn't see anyone else with gloves, but then again I didn't notice until I held her hand.

I look up and see that we're heading towards a small crowd of five fey.

I can see that two of them are older than the rest but not much else.

I struggle to make out details and rub my eyes.

"Hey thread, I see you got our last fairy."

'Wait, we're already here? Why can't I see anything?'

"Sure did, now let's get going. I'm sure they need a good rest after what they've been through."

"Are you okay?"

I see one of the older fey, a male, lean down towards me. I've always been a little short but this is too much.

I manage to mumble something reminiscent of an 'I'm fine'.

"You sure?"

I squint at him as my wobbly figure notices the look of concern on his face.

I manage to gather more energy this time and say.

"Just tired."

"Come on we better get you all to a bed then."

I walked through the tunnels like a drunken tourist.

In that, I tried to look at absolutely everything, while walking around with the consistency of a top.

Incoherent colors swirled around me as I traveled with the group.

One of the hosts offered to carry me, but I refused. I did; however, accept a hand when it was offered.

I was led through various paths and tunnels until we finally arrived. And like a drunk, I remembered absolutely none of it.

I remember that the door opened and that I walked up some stairs. I was lead through dinner and getting ready for bed. Until finally, I collapsed onto the soft mattress and passed out.

The last thing that passed through my mind was.

"Oh, yeah. I need glasses. My runes must have been going on the whole time. No wonder I'm so..."
