Mathew and his group had walked a good three miles before they could see the Shelter. the shelter was a old mall in one of the abandoned cities that Sarthin had deemed useless. Due to the sun setting the small amount of lighting from the mall could be seen. Mathew could tell something wasn't right.
the group rushed towards the mall excited to get water and food. as the group approached at a near running motion Mathew cautiously walked at a normal pace. He was uncertain about the situation, and he didn't like not knowing.
as the group rushed towards the building a gunshot sounded and the chubby man fell to the ground. People panicked and started to run in different directions, screaming. Mathew ran towards them and tried to get their attention, but much to his dismay he watched one after the other fall to the ground dead. with the fire power the 'shelter' was equipped with Mathew had no choice to run. Mathew tried to get their attention again and was successful, though not to the extent he wanted. they ran back the way they came.
after running for about fifteen minutes straight, they came to a halt. Although Mathew had barely broke a sweat, he knew that the others couldn't continue running. the others were panting and sweating a lot. they were all bent over, laying down or crouching. Mathew was the only one standing. once again the civilians thought ' is he even human?'
After a while Mathew breaks the silence " we need to keep moving,"
With his suit on Mathew looked alien like and emotionless. The others got up and followed Mathew again as he continued.
They came across no problems as they walked. Eventually the entered a little side town about fifteen miles away from the capital. As they approached, a truck came out to greet them. the truck was filled with heavily armed citizens. The town was a outcast town. a town becomes a outcast town if they try to separate from their original country and can hold their own against the troops that are sent in to deal with the traitors.
Upon seeing Mathew all of the outcasts aimed their weapons at him. They knew who he was, and how dangerous Mathew could be. one of the outcasts came forward nervously
" w-we aren't going t-to rejoin M-Manterine!" the man stammered the sentence out.
Mathew chuckled at hearing this, "Manterine is no more, only Sarthin."
the group of outcasts eyes' widened at hearing this. Mathew continued
" i'm not a threat anymore, i am simple a neutral force."
The the outcasts relaxed, lowering their weapons. They looked at each other and nodded. The outcast who seemed to be the outcast's team leader speaks up again
" Andrew will want to talk to you, Follow me,"
Mathew knew if he put up any resistance he would be seen as a enemy so he followed without a word. the town had large metal walls surrounding it. Mathew entered through the only gate. Mathew has only one thought in his head: no going back now.
