Chapter 57 - Mistakes (2)

It had been almost a week, and still, there was no sign of Shawn whether it be at Denzel's house or at the office. Everyday life started to struggle for him—all of his paperwork piled up, no one could arrange his schedules, and no one can do a better job than Shawn.

Denzel's life, at this point, had been pretty much filled of misery as it certainly had opened his eyes to a reality where Shawn was not around. Suarez Corporation, as always, had been busy day and night. Employees came in and out with a blink of an eye, as they were preparing for many deadlines for the presentation for Private Dawn Corporation, which has been always their closest ally.

Private Dawn Corporation was owned by Alexandra Park, who was the daughter of Denzel's mom's friend. She was a smart lady—a perfect child to run a giant corporation, a genius, as majority would say—making this project absolutely important.

Indeed, she was the woman of power, but her attitude can be quite peculiar at most times. And since Denzel and her had always been friends since they were kids, their parents have once agreed to a wedding, but was postponed due to the children's actions.

Four years had passed since, but apparently, Denzel's mom wanted to have grandchildren sooner or later, and within those four years, Denzel had not had a girlfriend due to work and personal reasons.

Now, his parents, have devised a much greater plan to make them walk down the aisle, and fill their spacious mansions with children someday. Denzel sighed as he held a highly decorated envelope. Judging by the font and everything, he already has guessed who was it from and what agenda might have been in stored for him.

He ripped out the envelope and took put a card with a very questionable calligraphy; scanning through the superfluous paragraphs, he knew it—a blind date. And apparently, it won't be Alexandra Park. He dropped the letter and immediately called Alexandra. She picked up—most probably because she always had found the time to talk with her beloved Denzel.

"Hey, it's me," he said.

Denzel heard her sigh. "Let me guess, it's about this letter your mom made, right?"

"Yeah, it's a bit troublesome, but I guess it's good timing since you are partnering with us."

She sighed again, but in an amplified tone. "All you think about is work. Enjoy your life, Zel."

"It's hard, especially that my secretary has gone missing."

A few exchanges of words happened in a matter of minutes before ending the call, sighing as he glanced at the tower of paper in front of him and then towards Shawn's desk. He grabbed one of the papers, did a scan and signed it.

Surprisingly, even though he was troubled and distracted, he got through a decent amount of papers until his stomach suddenly grumbled and unconsciously ordered Shawn to buy him food.

He grunted upon the realization that he was not there. "How long do I have to wait?"
