Chereads / Arachnomancer / Chapter 34 - Wretched War

Chapter 34 - Wretched War

The war started off differently than expected. I had planned to start it up myself but, it seems that the wretched must have noticed something..... Perhaps one of them noticed Set despite her being stealthed and led the others to here? She has scouted out the stream quite a few times so, maybe being able to see through stealth is a rare skill that one of the wretched just so happened to have.

They haven't reached the nest yet but, it won't be long.

"Vulki. Xelu..... Well, Vulki take Xelu with you and chip away at the stream. Just command your spiderlings to fight as we don't know if more powerful wretched exist. Retreat if you need to. The nest is fortified enough to be withstand their siege and Kess' spiderlings can hold them down." Gin

"Yes, master gin. Should we do anything with the corpses?" Vulki

Kess stares at me with expectation. I'll give a little I guess.

"Kess, when you are free you can have some spiderlings drag a few back. Keep an eye on the fighting though." Gin

.....

Thinking on it..... They won't revive or anything right? Wretched are very diverse creatures, so they probably have a a lot of different skills and perks. There could even be parasitic variants..... Worst case scenario, She'd have to be put down and revived..... No, wait, Set's healing ability may be able to remove it.

Anyways a seperate larder will be built detached from the nest. For now though, the issue is to see how well we can deal with the wretched. Vulki and Xelu went out with a horde of spiderlings along with the occasional onesthat spawn and run out to support them. After dealing with the wretched comes building new spawners. Kess is doing that in her free time and I'll decide on how to allocate time for Xelu and Vulki to build them depending on how well we deal with the wretched.

There is something that makes me worried though.... What would happen if one of the broodmothers was eaten? Do the wretched really kill the things they eat and then assimilate or... Perhaps it would be similar to when I assimilated them? No use worrying. I told them to retreat in case things get bad for a reason.

After a while I start getting a lot of notifications.

Set and the broodmothers all reached level 10 as well. It seems to be a major stopping point. The experience to reach the next level is way higher. The experience from level 6 to 7 was 1200. Now it's 12000 which is ten times higher..... It does make sense though. At the rate I was going, I could have reached a ridiculous level.

The summoning skills I have also reached tier 2. The only bonus this brings is that summoning a broodmother or guardian is now cheaper and I can summon another broodmother..... I won't.... Not for a while anyways..... What suprised me was that the guardian summoning skill increased along with the Broodmother one. Must be based off of the highest level one that I have. Only possibility I can think of.

Now. What to do with the free skill points and attribute points..... Obviously one point goes to wisdom..... Well lets put the rest in intelligence. Once it goes over twenty two a attribute point will have half the effect. Still Intelligence is the most useful stat for me. It increases damage along with other things. Poison control is based entirely off of it as well.

Now onto skill points. I have been putting them off as a single skill point wont make much of a difference. 10 however can raise a skill by a whole tier. Sadly Poison control can't be raised..... I'm thinking of raising my three main skills to tier two. The ones that I use the most, poison pool, poison lance, and stealth. Stealth is my only form of defense. Technically, I have a necklace that I aquired from the treants which allows the use of a defensive skill but, I would rather save that for emergencies.

Poison pool and poison lance's damage will increase exponentially every tier. Add on the increase in intelligence and it gets even more ridiculous. Between that and gear bonuses..... Holy crap.

Confirming everything I get another perk from having a stat reach 20.

The new perk is.... Weird. I won't call it useless but, compared to greater mind, it seems to lag behind. Well, I have no great amount of knowledge about this world and who knows how much it'll give so let's wait and see.

The increase in intelligence is disappointing.... Perhaps it would have been better to put that in another stat..... Hmmmm???? Ohhh. I got a bestiary page on wretched. Wait, what the hell is this!?!?
