....
I start examining those roots more closely. A shiny blood red, almost as if made of ruby. Thin like wire, but as I handle it, its extremely tough and rigid. They weave in and out of the skin over my heart.
*ztttttttzzz
I hear a sound. Similar to the static sound of a television, and a screen that looks similar to that appears in front of me. It starts to focus into what looks like a dark red status display.

I feel a coolness wash over me as the screen appears. As I read through it I realize that it must be this 'Steel Mind' perk that keeps my mind from going chaotic again. Mind afflictions. Kind of a broad term, but that may be why the rank of it seems high. There are a couple auxiliary subscreens that explain what some of this means like the ranking system.
Common would be the lowest rank including base species like humans and goblins, which apparently exist. It would also include basic weapons, and perks like slow metabolism.
Next is uncommon which includes species like drow and dwarves. Finely crafted weapons and perks like ambidextrous exist in this category
Rare being the next step up is qualitatively very different, dragonoids and fairies being examples for species. Magic weapons and perks like my own untraceable are here.
The rest is not given but it seems to go in order as common, uncommon, rare, unique, epic, legendary, mythic, and transcendent.
Ignoring the fact that I'm no longer 100% human for the moment, I start examining the subscreens on levels. Seems I can get stronger by leveling just like in games and I can unlock a class at level 1. The classes available seem to be based on certain prerequisites that have been completed though. Experience is earned by swallowing the golden mist that comes off those you kill. Only the person who gets the kill will be able to swallow the mist, but there are a couple of exceptions.
Unfortunately these spiders seem to have been dead for a while and have probably been drained of their mist already. There was that one spider though. Hmmm, I look at the .6% Greater Arachneva and figure that was the grey spider's species. But was does it mean for me to be .6% spider?..... My mind seems to be working differently, but I think that's because of Steel Mind....
Thinking about it won't do anything for the moment. Just staying here is dangerous. I need to get some experience for the moment. Hmmmm??? I wonder if there is any other spiders that are still alive....
