Chapter 7 - Arachnomancer

*Level up

1 free attribute point

1 free skill point

*you hear something gnawing

Last one eh. I browse the subscreen on attributes. Attribute points can raise the level of an attribute by one, but after it reaches 20 you require 2 to raise it. You also get a perk starting at 20 and every 5 afterward. They can also be raised naturally through various means like training, but that will slow as they grow.

Titles can add bonuses that don't slow attribute growth. Titles attributes also dont make it so you need 2 attributes once you reach 20. Say you have 20 strength and 2 of that comes from a title. You wont need to pay 2 attribute points per increase until you reach 22 strength.

Skill points are also on this screen, and they allow you to level one skill up regardless of tier, without the increase in experience for the next level. I'll leave those points until I choose a class. As I mess with the General screen I bring up potential classes

1.Spearman(common)

2.Chef(common)

3.Corpse Hugger(rare)

4.Arachnomancer(*Growth-unique)

5.Happenings Hunter(random/common-epic)

6.Hollow Explorer(epic)

...

A subscreen pops up that introduces classes. Only species that can't evolve can aquire classes as that is their way to gain strength. All clases can rank up, but it takes a tremendous amount of effort to even raise a common rank class.

The only exception are *Growth-rank classes which can generate missions to rank up. These mission's difficulty is based on class rank and level. There's no penalty for failing, but depending on class rank, it may take a long time for another to appear.

I look back at the small subscreen that says (*you hear something gnawing) and it has a weird effect..... Whenever I look at it I hear something chewing quite grotesquely and my vision turns red, but if I turn away, it disappears. Just close that subscreen I guess....

Anyway back onto classes, I cross out the first three as they don't seem very useful. The first two as they don't have much potential and the third is just plain weird. All it's skills and perks seem to be for seducing the undead. It even has a perk so that you can do 'things' with the undead.... Yeah.... That's definitely crossed out.

Seeing that Arachnomancer is a growth skill I'll check that out last as it'll probably be my choice.

Happenings hunter is interesting as it centered around luck. It has perks and skills that evoke fortunate events. However, none are really focused on combat, and although there is a skill that will make enemies suffer misfortune, it does not seem that reliable. On top of all of that, it's rank is random. Crossed off.

Next up is Hollow explorer. This class is based on ridiculous movement speed and detection. Its perks have bonuses to these and they increase with your level. It has a couple of combat skills which deal true damage which is nice. But..... My current attributes are not the most compatible....

I go back and look at arachnomancer. Just like how a necromancer creates undead, this class creates spiders. However, it is more based on creating broodmothers which create spiders. It's a class is based heavily on Intelligence and Wisdom, so it is very suitable for me.

After debating with myself for a while, I end up picking arachnomancer.
