Chapter 52 - CALL ME CLYDE

The three ate in silence and the longer it dragged on, the more bothering it felt. So after a short while, Syra thought that she already had enough of it and so she broke the awkward silence.

"If you may, can I ask something?"

She said more like a whisper, but she also made it sure that it was loud enough for the other party to hear her.

Clyde on the other hand remained silent as though he did not hear a thing.

He dug a spoonful from his plate and placed it in his mouth. He took his time to chew his food as though he was really trying to savor its every flavor. It was only when he swallowed his food did he responded to Syra's inquiry.

"It depends."

He replied simply but he did not lift his gaze to look at Syra and instead he only resumed eating.

"Master Cl----"

Syra started but before she could even continue what she was about to say, Clyde already cut her off in mid-sentence.

"Clyde. Just call me Clyde. Calling me master sounds too old school."

He said cooly. However, when Naomi heard his master put it that way, the cat pricked its ears up.

"But I thought you hate it when someone called you by your name????"

The tomcat interjected and reminded his master of his former preference. After all, it was he who told Syra to refer to Clyde as their 'master'.

"Things change."

Clyde replied simply and chose not to explain any further than that.

"So Clyde..."

Syra interjected after allowing the master and duo to bicker with one another for a short while

"Yes, Syra?"

Clyde answered back as soon as he heard Syra calling out his name. The tone of his voice was relatively calmer and warmer than the usual tone that he used whenever he was talking to her before.

Maybe feeding him with hearty meals seemed to make him much kinder.

"I just wonder, how old are you?"

Knowing that the other party was not a normal man, Syra could not help but wonder how old the other party really was.

Lately, she could not help but wonder if Clyde was like the fictional characters she used to read in novels before? A magic caster who had lived an extremely long life and had already seen the vicissitudes of life.

However, rather than clarifying her doubts, Clyde only gave her a vague answer.

"I must say, older than what you could actually imagine."

Err???

Hearing his answer, Syra fought the urge to do a facepalm.

"You could have just simply told me that you don't wish to reveal your age if you really did not want to tell me."

Syra whispered as she made a face.

"I can hear you."

Clyde said.

"I know... By the way, what are you planning to do next? Is there something I need to do first before going to bed tonight?"

Syra replied then swiftly introduced another question to change the topic.

"For now, I don't think I would be doing anything anymore. So you could rest early. But be reminded that you have to wake up early the next day as I am planning to bring you somewhere."

"Where exactly?"

"You'll know once we get there. Besides, it was not like you would know the place even if I tell you now."

As if getting back to his usual self, Clyde became snappy again.

"Err... Okay?"

Syra replied with a blank expression.

Silence followed afterward and Syra no longer attempted to open up another conversation.
