Chereads / The Wolf and her Alien / Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

It took mere hours and A'va found out her exact location. I'm not sure how she did it but I will give her props she knows her stuff.

Waiting till night then we put De'rax plan into action. The train tunnels were easy to find. Making our way through stopping every few sections to make sure we were in the right place. It had to be exact.

Finally De'rax proclaimed us at the exact spot. Yeah guess who was supposed to dig. Me. I guess being a wolf automatically volunteered me. Sigh. Whatever. I dug where he told me to. Harder to do because it was above me not below me but hey I made it work.

I poked my head out of the hole. As he said it ran along the fence line directly inside. There was a guard walking away from me as I pulled myself through. I quietly snuck up behind. As soon as he was in the shadows I pounced. Took him out before he could scream. Grabbed onto his ankle and dragged the body into the hole.

Following De'rax around the fence we came to a back window. A'va said she was in the upstairs room on the far left. So we had to sneak in the window and make our way upstairs.

It was odd. "There are no guards."

"I noticed. Stick close to me I smell a trap."

We got to the room she was being held in. Sitting pretty on the couch with Ka'ri was Re'at holding a vicious looking dagger to her throat.

"Ah you have finally arrived. I wondered if Ki'o was lying to me. He put up quite a fight though. Took me a while to get him to tell me of your plan to get his sister back. Although he didn't tell me how or when. Guess you didn't let him in on that little tidbit did you?"

" Let her go Re'at."

"Oh I will don't worry. After you give me the Wolf."

De'rax growls. "You can't have her."

"Well then I guess the Ka'ri and her brother will die."

He whistles and a dozen men file into the room. One carrying a screen. Holding it up shows Ki'o chained up. Covered in blood and multiple bruises.

I have a man down there that can just as easily slit his throat just as quick as I can slit hers. So I ask again. Give me the Wolf."

This time I growl.

" Let me go over there."

"NO!"

"I am not helpless. As soon as he releases her go get Ki'o. Providing they intend to let you out of this room. However I'm banking on these guys being mercenaries."

"Very well."

He releases the hair on my neck and I step towards Re'at.

"You have made the right choice."

He throws Ka'ri at De'rax then jumps towards me. I freeze. Waiting for the right moment to strike. As soon as he is right in front of me with an attempt to put a collar on me I attack. I go for the jugular since he has set it right in my face.

No scream is heard. Just a gurgling sound as Re'at slowly dies. The men don't move. Once he hits the floor I step back and growl.

The mercenaries lay down their weapons. "Finally someone killed the dumbshit. I just wish it could have been me."

There are a lot of yes and thank you passed around before all but one file out.

"Now my men and I are broke. He never paid us. Said he would after the job of getting the Wolf was over. Should have asked for the money up front. Don't suppose you would be willing to hire us?"

De'rax thinks for a minute. "I will hire you but not as mercenaries but as full guards."

"Full guards? As we don't have an end to the contract?"

"Exactly. I need men to travel with my partner and I on trips to other planets."

"I would have to confer with my men but I don't see a problem. You have got yourself a deal."

He holds out his hand to shake. De'rax takes it and they shake on it.

"I will have my secretary work out the paper work but till then I need your name."

"Oh yes how stupid of me. My name is Argo. I can introduce the rest of my men later."

"How many do you have at your command Argo?"

"Just the dozen you saw in here. They are all loyal men I can vouche for them."

"Good but not what I was asking. I want to know if I have to set up contracts with all of them separately?"

Argo scratches his head. "I guess that would depend on if they still want me as there Cap'n. I have been for many years but I always told em they were free ta choose."

"I will ask them after we get Ki'o and his sister back to my house. They need a doctor."

Argo nods and leads the way out. After we are out De'rax calls his pilot to bring in his hover. We all climb aboard and head back home.

As we walk in the door A'va calls the doctor and I lead Ka'ri upstairs to a room. She hasn't let go of me since I killed Re'at. I leave De'rax downstairs in his office to clean up the mess.

I wait with Ka'ri as the doctor examines her.

"Bruises and scratches. That is the extent of her physical hurt. I can't do much for her mental one. I can give her a sedative for now."

After that's done I pull the blanket up and walk him to De'rax office.

"How is she doctor?"

"As I was telling your partner she is physically fine however her mental state is thin. I recommend a therapist for a time. Also that she stays here she has taken a liking to your partner. If there is anyone else you think she might bond with it would make her recovery go smoother."

"Yes. There was another women that came with my partner her name is Caylee. While you take a look at Ka'ri brother I will talk to Caylee."

A'va shows the doctor where they placed Ki'o. I go get Caylee for De'rax.

She yawns as comes into the office. "You wants to see me lord General?"

"Yes Caylee. Our mission was a success. We got both the brother and sister out. The brother is being treated now. However the doctor told me that the sister Ka'ri is not mentally stable right now. After everything I didn't expect her to be. The doctor thinks that a therapist and you can help her. She has taken a liking to Kyra but we won't always be around. Is there any way you can help the girl?"

Caylee smiles." I would be delighted to. Anything to make her life hers again."

De'rax nods." Good she was given a sedative for now. The doctor said he would leave more if needed. She is in the yellow room upstairs you may go sit with her if you like. "

Caylee nods and leaves the room.
