The next morning I wake up alone in De'rax bed. It seems even with the things that happened last night he is in a hurry to get things done. I pad downstairs to the dining room.
"He is in his office Kyra."
I turn to see Caylee setting out a plate for me. I nod in response and tell her thank you. I hop into the chair and quickly eat. Burping louder than I intended to I hop down and head towards the study.
"No. I said that it was to be five thousand credits not a credit more. I don't care what your boss said. Grrr. Tell your boss he is pushing my patience and if he doesn't accept the price we had a contract for I will take him down. Then I will tear him up piece by piece. " He slams his hand into his desk.
"Rough morning?"
"You could say that. I have had this contract with that company for months and he is trying to break it for more money. When he made it with me he thought my idea would blow up in my face. Now that he has been proven wrong he wants more."
"Sounds like you need to pay him a visit."
"Oh we are. That is where we are going to tomorrow."
"Okay. Get any where with the episode from last night?"
"Ki'o sister is named Ka'ri and she has been missing for a number of months. So he wasn't lying about her being gone. However I have not been able to find a single piece of evidence that points to Re'ats involvement in the kidnapping."
I think for a minute. If what I have figured out about Re'at is true then he would be sneaky. He wouldn't leave a trail to be seen my normal means.
"I got it!"
"You got what?"
"If Re'at is sneaky which we both know he is. Then the normal means of finding his involvement will be zilch. However if we start looking for his usual routine and checking for differences."
"Then we can figure out how he did it. Good idea. But we have to find out what his norm is before we can check for differences. I say we will have to start that when we get back."
"Sadly I agree. I wanted to help Ki'o faster than this but we can't stop our plans because that would make us look suspicious."
We stare at each other in acknowledgement for a few seconds then I turn to leave. De'rax follows me to the training room where for the next four hours we work out our frustration.
The rest of the day follows slowly in much the same pattern. I sleep again with De'rax but nothing happens so we awake to an eventful morning for breakfast then I shift in my room for a quick much needed shower. I had Caylee in my room saying it was for help but all she did was watch the door. Once clean I brushed my hair had Caylee braid it then shifted back.
I met De'rax downstairs ready to leave. In the hover car to his ship was just as fast as the last time. Then exiting and going into his ship and disembarking. I wasn't sure where we were going. De'rax had not told me yet. So I watched out the veiw window as the stars blurred together as we past.
"We are going to the planet Isdain. It has barely any rules or regulations. Definitely has even less in the way of enforcing it. So when we land stick close to me."
"No problem. I have never been there so I'm not leaving your side. Besides if you die so do I. Then who is going to protect Caylee?"
He laughs. "Fair point."
