When they got there, most of the kids had already arrived. "Hey everyone," Mark said as joyfully as he could.
"Hey," John said with boredom laced in his voice.
"Hi," the kids said in unison.
" There's only eight, should we give them a snack while we wait for the other two children to arrive. The last two are siblings right?" said Mark as he was unloading some of the food from the chest previously packed by him.
"Yeah, they are twins if I'm not wrong. Also, their older sister, Cynthia, has studied and became an apprentice healer. She is also one and eight." said John while moving his head to the side so Mark does not see the reminiscing smile John had while thinking of her. "I know she's an apprentice healer. We've known her our whole lives. Here start passing the dried fruit and nuts and stop thinking about the future Mrs. Lore," Mark finished saying teasingly.
" I do not know what you are talking about. Here, pass me that," John said, but even a deaf man could hear the fluster and embarrassment in his voice as it slightly changed into a higher pitch.
"Oh come on! The whole village has known you have been in love with her since we were kids. I don't know why you don't ask her out. If you keep on stalling I'm going to have to make my own move since, she is beautiful." Mark said with a smirk on his face. "Shut up," said John with a blush on his cheeks before processing Mark's ending sentence. John stopped and glared at Mark before saying with venom thick in his voice " I dare you to do it." John then proceeded to walk towards the kids passing out snacks and water from small canteens. As they finished passing out the snacks, Cynthia and her two younger brothers could be seen walking towards them.
"Hey guys, sorry I''m late".
