While Serene and Viola carry out the task, I enter my study to collect a few important things.
Despite the fact that I have not entered my study for a very long time, being bedridden and all, there is not a spot of dust to be found within the room.
I suppose I have Serene to thank for the cleanliness, as she is an excellent caretaker.
Without her, Kilian would have been dead already.
Since I cannot sell any item within the room to the Shop System for their sentimental or intrinsic value on the account that I have no ownership over them, I can certainly put them into my Inventory to sell them in town.
And at Level 9 Merchant, I no longer need to touch anything to place them into my Inventory. As long as the item is within sight and within reach, I can send it into my Inventory at will. I can also take items out of the Inventory with the same restriction as well.
This allows me to steal thing in plain sight with the Inventory, and I will certainly use it to an extent.
Within the next hour or so, Serene and Viola finish packing everything that is necessary. As for myself, I have also finished with looting whatever worthwhile, and I am ready to head into the town.
Due to the financial state of the family, I will be travelling on foot. I do not mind, and Serene and Viola cannot really complain. Nor will the guards who are accompanying me for a sense of security.
While those guards are terrible at protecting my person and belongings, it is required of me since I am the Seventh Master of the Grey Household. Of course, I am sure that at least one of the guards is loyal to another family – probably another rival family.
Almost every notable family within the city is a rival to every other family.
Not to mention that father has made a lot of enemies due to his lecherous ways, but then again, even without his lecherous ways, he is bound to make a lot of enemy. This is because for one family to rise into prominent, another must fall.
It is especially true in a world where the strong eats the weak, and as such, having absolute power will grant absolute authority.
That is also why the Ruling Family is also the strongest family within the City, and most of the Sorcerers residing in the City are affiliated with the Ruling Family somehow, most likely through secret business transaction or marriage.
As for my family, we are still amongst the top 10 families despite our fall from grace.
This is thanked to my grandfather, who is a Sorcerer himself. He is dying of old age, however, and I do wonder whether I should save his life.
It is probably not that hard to extend his lifespan, considering I have access to Life Crystals. The energy within can starve off death for a time, but it does lose its effectiveness in prolonged use. But prolonged use is not really of a concern at the moment.
Speaking of Life Crystal, I am sure it will worth quite a lot on this world, but I should not be selling Life Crystals at the start, as it will raise a lot of questions. I should sell something that are not of magical in nature.
Good thing that I have so many useful products from Earth.
