Chapter 21 - The Path to Salvation

By the time that I have managed to regroup with Thomas and the others alongside with Alex, countless of glass shards rain down from the classrooms situated on higher levels within the school buildings.

The anguish cries that follow acquire all of our attentions.

Unlike the others, I stare unflinchingly at the people who are leaping out of the broken windows all in order to get away from the monsters. It is a familiar sight, as it is similar to the first time around. But instead of getting away from undead monsters, they are not getting away from ravenous monsters.

Not much different, really.

"Holy shit man! How many people have been turned?" Alex questions as he flinches with each person falling to their death against the hard concrete below. Some people manage to survive the jump. Sadly, they are now easy meal for the monsters in the yard.

Thomas shakes his head and tries to avert his eyes away from the sight. He cannot help them, and he is not stupid enough to risk his life to do so. "Too many. Just too many. What. What should we do now, Zander?"

I blink questioningly. "When did I become the leader?"

"You're the only one who knows what the fuck is going on, and while I still have my doubt about your claim to see the future, I think your decisions are of our best interest right now. At least, I do not think you would get us killed," Thomas answers the rhetorical question.

Honestly, he does not need to answer that. If I am not the leader, then who the fuck is!?

Alex eyes silently me due to what happen.

I return his gaze before looking at Thomas and then at everyone else. Alice. Jessica. And three people who I do not know of. "Alright, but you have to listen to what I say. By the way, who are these three?"

"Oh. This is Debra, Teressa and Cindy. They are my friends," Jessica answers, and each of the girls give me their greeting. Teressa flirts with me, earning a glare from Alice.

"Nice to meet you too," I response in kind before checking my phone. There is no reception, meaning that time and space distortion has happened. It will be noticeable soon, as time flows at different rate within the Cube than the outside world.

It is usually faster than the outside world, thus a day here would be like a minute outside, but it is not for certain since each Ruler decides that. Some makes it slower within the Cube just to mess with a lot of people.

"You guys all know that we are enclosed inside a Cube, right?" I question and continue to talk since it is obvious. Everyone has seen the news before reception is lost. "You guys also know that nothing can get in or out of the Cube, right?"

Physically anyway. Also, Players can actually enter the Cube, all in order to clear the dungeons.

"What they do not tell you is that time actually is faster inside the Cube, and it is accelerating," I reveal with a frown. "So, we will be here for a while until they figure out how to save us. It could be months to years from now. Since that is the case, I suggest finding a long-term base with plenty of supplies."

I let everyone comprehends that.
