Chapter 22 - No Need for Debates

There is actually a reason to why time within the Zone is accelerating, and it has something to do with the number of people still left alive. Since this Zone belongs to the Ruler of Life, it is called a Life Zone, as oppose to Death Zone, a zone belonging to the Ruler of Death.

Of course, people just know it as the Cube right now. Green Cube. Red Cube. Blue Cube. And so on. It does not really matter, as a piece of shit by any other name would still be a piece of shit.

"That's crazy!" Debra calls out. "You're crazy. This isn't some sort of survival game! We should. Should stay put until the cops come. I'm sure they will."

"No. We can't stay here. Didn't you see those monsters!? They kill Brandon and drag off Rebecca. We will get killed if we stay here," Cindy argues.

So, the monsters have dragged off someone instead of killing them? It seems that some of them have their fills and are now preparing for the future. Taking people alive means they are either stocking up foods or worse. Like breeding.

"Zander. We should try to get to my place. My dad has an underground bunker with a lot of supplies, and I think we will be safe there," Teressa appeals to me, and I consider her suggestion for a moment before shaking my head.

"It might be safer at your place, but I rather head over there instead," I tell her and everyone as I point at the Black Tower in the distance. It is obscured by green clouds, but it is fairly visible. "In case you're wondering, that is a Dungeon, and as long as that still stands, a lot more people are going to die."

There is also plenty of other reasons to clear the dungeon as soon as possible.

"A Dungeon!? Is this really some kind of games?" Alex questions. Thomas mutters the same thing just under different wordings. "Is that why we can see those things?"

"We have always been playing a game, Alex. A game called Life," I tell him ominously, and he eyes me unblinkingly. I smile and adds: "The real question is. Are you winning? Because losing means far more than just dying now."

That scares everyone, as they have seen friends and teachers transform into monsters.

"Anyway. As leader, I know what best for you guys. Of course, if you think otherwise, you do not need to follow me," I tell everyone with a smile. "You can try and head home right now or wait for helps to come, but I can assure you, it is not as simple as you think."

With that, I begin to head off, as standing around and debating about what to do is a waste of precious time. The monsters are beginning to get organized, and they will be a far deadlier threat.

"Hey. Where are you going, Zander? Wait for me!" Alex calls out and chases after me. Thomas follows along with his sister. Alice too without hesitation. As for the other three, they eventually follow since they feel safer in numbers.

"I'm heading to the parking lot," I answer.

"Didn't you say we shouldn't drive?" Thomas questions while panting heavily. He manages to bandage himself to stop the bleeding, and he should not be exerting himself.

"I did, but I'm not going there to get a car. Well, I am, but not for what you are thinking," I answer.
