Even so, I continue to hold my breath, as the mist fills the room and sharply drops visibility. I am trying my best to refuse the gift, and the longer that I can do it through my resolve and willpower alone, the greater my potential appears to the System.
That is all that matters in the end, as I believe the System is above even the Rulers themselves. Through skills and abilities granted to me by the System, I was able to kill a Ruler. The Ruler of Death.
And that is the only proof I needed.
"Status," I request, and a window appear before me instead of a corrupted message previously. I have already expected as such due to the Quest Window.
[Zander Callahan] [Age: 16] [Gender: Male] [Vital: Normal] [Species: Human] [Profession: Merchant of Death] [Fame/Infamy: Neutral]
I note that Class has been changed to Profession, and my profession has also been changed. I am now a Merchant of Death. Is it because I have killed the Ruler of Death? Perhaps, as my Class does change with every milestone I manage to reach.
[Health (HP): 89.12%] [Stamina (SP): 93.32%] [Mana (MP): 0.00%]
The next part on the Status Window reveals my attributes.
[Strength: 9 (+0)] [Constitution: 9 (+0)] [Resistance: 11 (+0)] [Dexterity: 10 (+0)] [Intelligence: 11 (+0)] [Charisma: 15 (+0)] [Agility: 9 (+0)] [Wisdom: 12 (+0)] [Perception: 13 (+0)] [Luck: 8 (+0)]
An average person should have all 10 in every attribute, but no one in the world is considered average, honestly. Everyone is unique in their own way. As for me, my Charisma is the highest due to my class – profession.
Charisma is the only attribute that a Merchant needs, as they are not combat orientated, nor they are support-type. They are more like auxiliary-type class if there is such a thing.
After my attributes is my Statistic. After that is my Classifications and Qualifications, which are lengthy – very lengthy. The last list my Talents and Proficiencies, which is also lengthy. Skills and Abilities are not listed on the Status Window.
They have their own separate window.
I would have a look of that as well, but the fog has invaded my lungs, causing them to inflame, forcing me to cough and take in more of the mist. My vision soon hazes and darkens. The cold surface of the table presses against my face shortly after.
Utter silence surrounds me as I slowly close my eyes, and within the blankest darkness, an unfamiliar voice speaks to me. Even so, I am aware of who that is – the Ruler of Life.
"What do you desire the most?"
I remain silence, as I am not interested in telling her anything, and she cannot do anything to me within my mindscape. Not while my will is unbroken. She continues to ask me, and if she keeps it up forever, I might be bored enough to fall asleep.
That will not be a good thing!
