Chapter 9 - An Unexpected Party

The Fog of Evolution belonging to the Ruler of Life is different than the Fog of Extinction belonging to the Ruler of Death. It will not kill people and resurrect them as mindless monsters, such as zombies or ghouls. No. It forces evolution within all form of life, resulting in all sort of fun horrors.

Did I just say fun horrors? Well, it will become fun once insanity sets in.

"Wait. What? Shouldn't we stay put? It is safer here," Alex suggests.

Alex is still staring out of the window along with a few people, who are likely ogling at the cheerleaders leaving the field with the rest of the people. Alex has no interest in those girls. He does, however, have interest in their young coach.

Because of that teacher, Alex has once tried out for the football team, but he didn't make it far due to sustained injuries.

It isn't because Alex does not have the physique to compete. It is because of James, who basically the boss of the entire football team. No one can try out without his say so, but he had allowed Alex to try, just to beat up Alex under the guise of practice. Alex did gain some sympathy from their coach, so his effort wasn't a complete waste.

Honestly, I think Alex can do better, and there are plenty of other ways to get into her pants. Smarter ways. Not my problem.

I scan the classroom, noticing several groups of people huddling together. From their conversation, it appears that most of the groups have already started talking about something else entirely. They are not as concern about the mist as they should have.

"Alex. I need your help on this, and it is more important that her. I will help you get her later, and that is a promise," I tell Alex. I actually wanted to leave him behind as an eye opener for him, but he might die, and I cannot have that when I have sacrificed so much to see him alive again.

"Oh… since you put it that way," Alex pulls his attention from the window and join me heading out of the classroom. "I feel like you know something, do you?"

"I…" I about to explain when I notice I have more companies. "What do you guys want?"

"Um. We are also heading to the cafeteria," Harry answers. He is a nerd of the classroom, and his two friends are also nerds. I shouldn't call them that, but they are what they are.

"What about you, Alice? Are you also heading to the cafeteria?" I question, directing at the girl who is standing behind them.

"I don't know. I think it is safer with you," Alice tells me, and I give her a nod. I think she might have a crush on me from what happened first time around.

"Suit yourself," I tell her even though I want to say something else. It is hard to show care when I have become so uncaring of everything. I might have gained powers at the end, but I believe I have lost my humanity in exchange. "Just watch yourself. Things might get ugly very, very fast."

That is not comforting to hear for anyone, and Alice wants to know what I mean. Alex, Harry and those other two as well. It is such a headache, I suppose I will have to get used to it.

"Quest," I request, and a holographic window appear before me, shocking everyone.
