But that was not the creepy part yet!
What made the hairs on his body stood on its end were the shadows that he kept on seeing darting around the corner of his eyes, every now and then.
Aiden was not exactly sure if it was just all but a trick of the light because the fire used in the sconces did not seem to be normal, to begin with.
Or whether it was his eyesight getting worse.
Or could it be because he hit his head too hard at some point as he fell in the abyss???
For whatever reason it was, then so be it!
But Aiden could swear for certain that he could see the shadows moving!
Whenever he would look back or turn to a corner, he would see all those shadows and they would just dart away as soon as possible, as though scared of him.
During those times, Aiden would usually either blink or rub his eyes, but whenever he would open his eyes again, the shadows would be nowhere to be seen already.
Leaving Aiden to himself thinking if he had gotten crazy or crazier.
But aside from that weird encounter, there was nothing else.
The rest of the place was indeed luxurious and shiny, and expensive.
No one could deny that fact,
But rather than saying it was a palace, it felt more like an endless maze of corridors at some point
Along the way, Aiden saw some doors but they were all sealed shut.
Not knowing which direction to take and with no idea where exactly to go, Aiden just allowed his feet to take him wherever it would lead him.
After a few more minutes of walking to what seemed to be an endless corridor, Aiden ended up in a grand staircase that led to a foyer or a ballroom which could probably fit four houses in it.
Yes! You pictured it out, just right.
That was how massive it was!
As Aiden descended through the staircase, he could not help but see himself as if he was on the staircase scene of the movie 'Titanic'.
Everything around him felt so grand!
After that ballroom was a set of large wooden doors, probably ten times of Aiden's height.
Thankfully one of them was left ajar which saved Aiden the effort of trying out each of every door just to see which one of them was open
After a lot of groaning, heaving, and pushing, Aiden was finally able to open the door for a few inches, just enough for him to slip in.
But what he saw behind the door made his heart stop!
It was a garden... or, sort of...
But instead of actual plants, the garden before him was a replica.
Countless roses, tulips, stargazers, orchids, and other flowers and trees were there.
Yet they were all made of gemstones.
Looking at it from afar, it does look like a typical garden.
But up close, it was only then that Aiden realized that it was not as simple as that.
To which was to be expected, considering that he was at Nathalia's place at the moment
It would indeed be a disappointment if the place that houses the Queen herself appeared to be unfancy at all.
Taking a closer look at what seemed to be a rose, Aiden noticed that it was actually chiseled from a ruby the size of his fist.
Each petal of the ruby rose was perfectly sculpted to make it look like the real one.
For a long time, Aiden wandered and look around the garden.
For some reason, Aiden's brain was momentarily relieved of all his concerns and he just felt relaxed.
In fact, even his thought of leaving the place seemed fleeting and was put at the back of his mind
So before he even realized it, Aiden already spent much time inside the garden more than what he actually intended.
He looked at the various flowers present in the garden and tried to guess which gemstones they were made of.
Truly, it was beautiful. Aiden fell in love with it, at just one glance.
But that was until he heard something growling behind him!!!
