Chapter 2 - The Longest Dream

Resetting my cultivation seems to be a lot harder than I have initially thought. This is because I am just way too fucking overpowered. Kind of obvious with all the deaths and destructions that I have inflicted upon all the realms.

Just trying to wipe out those annoying intruders. How dare they keep bothering me in my moment of doubts and self-reflections? Eh?

Anyway, there is still a way for me to reset my cultivation, all in order to cultivate my foundations from the beginning, using the correct methods. The hidden flaws within my current foundations is stopping me from transcending further, and it is kind of bothering me.

More than a little.

If what I have learned is true, then I will be the first in countless eons to reach the realm beyond what is universally known. That will be quite a feat, but honestly, I am technically the most powerful person in this era, so why do I need to ascend even higher?

The answer is really simple. It is because I am not the most powerful being in all of existence. Besides, just because those more powerful guys in higher realms aren't bothering me at the moment does not mean they will not bother me in the future.

Therefore, I have no choice but to ascend higher. It is more or less insurance, as only the strong would not get preyed upon. The strong do the preying!

Thus, to that end, I return to my cult ā€“ I mean sect ā€“ to prepare for my first step towards ascension. It is nice to be back too, considering that I have been gone for such a long time. Like most of my life since my reincarnation.

"Great Founder, you have return to us," one of my devoted followers greets me upon my arrival. Even though he has never seen me in person before, he would recognize me anywhere thanked to all those paintings and statues decorating the halls.

Those are my ideas, just to make sure everyone knows who their fucking boss is regardless of whether they have joined before or after I have left.

While that person knows who I am, I have no who clue who he is. Of course, the Eyes of Beholder does its magic, allowing me to discern the truth to his origin with a quick glance.

"Zheng. Go and inform the elders that I require their attentions," I tell Zheng before teleport into one of my chambers. No one are allowed into those chambers for as long as I live.

It takes about a minute for the elders to enter my chamber. Each of them gives their deepest respects to me while I just sit there, pondering about my current problem.

Since I am way too powerful right now to destroy my foundations outright even with my own abilities, I will need to expend all of my current power first. Once my power is completely depleted, I can cripple myself, thus allowing me to cultivate from the beginning once more.

"Great Founders, we welcome your return. Can we assume that your journey through the cosmos was successful?"

"It is, and I will tell you all about it when I feel like it," I respond. "The reason that I have return is very simple. This sect I have founded is the weakest amongst all the realm, and therefore, it is the safest."

The elders frown at that. No one wants to hear that their sect is weak, but since it had come from me, none of them questions it. They can only accept the fact.

"I will seal the deepest chamber and enter my eternal slumber," I tell them. "No one is to disturb me, not until I reawaken. Your job is to make sure my order is carried out with no exception."

The elders are shocked my declaration. Entering the eternal slumber means death to many. For me to casually reawaken means that I have conquered death itself. They accept my order without questions, and I dismiss them afterwards.

Once that is done, I summon forth a stone slab into my chamber.

With just my bare hands and fingers, I cut the stone slab into a sarcophagus. A couple runic inscriptions here and there quickly converts that sarcophagus into a Sacred Artefact. Not quite on par with all the Sacred Artefact that I have created over the years, but it will do its job well.

While I hibernate within the sarcophagus, it will siphon away my power, draining me completely until I can destroy my foundations and reborn anew. Of course, I will need a medium to store the siphoned off powers.

Another Sacred Artefact of Divine Rank is created particular for that job. Divine Artefact is the highest grade I can produce. Higher grade is Primordial, at least from what I have managed to gather. It is the realm that I am trying to reach.

If everything goes well, I will reach that realm and become truly supreme.

I prepare a few more things within the sect before moving the sarcophagus to the designated chamber deep underground. I protect the chamber with my aura before stepping inside the sarcophagus. There, I lay in wait for the day that I will be able to cultivate once more.

If my calculation is correct, it should take a few thousands of years. Seems like a good sleep, and thus, I begun to dream. And dream. And dream.

And I would have continued to dream if someone have not woken me up from my slumber. I blinked and realized that I have slept for a more than a billion years.

"Fuck! I should have crafted an alarm clock. Goddamn it!" I curse, not paying attention to all the people that are present.
