Chapter 7 - Don't Cry

In junior high, Yuenelia tried to find an answer to Zordyz's illness. She has searched through mountains of research papers on amnesia cases but to no avail. There was no study case such as his.

She asked her mother for access to the hospital's archive room but it was off-limits due to confidential information. Her mother read through the files for her and it was fruitless.

"How could this be? Of all the things in the world, he has to get something no one has ever had." Yuenelia was devastated by the news.

Zordyz losing his memories will always be her worst nightmare. He was her only close friend after all.

She was tiny and soft-spoken, her classmates would often tease her. Zordyz was the one who stood by her all along.

He used to be a cheery and smiley kid so he had plenty of friends to play with. She was able to relax with him around since his friends would not go around teasing her. After he made sure the other kids were not harassing her, only then he would go off to play and leave her with her books.

The first time he had his amnesia, it almost scared her to death. All of a sudden, he was not who he was anymore. He became moody and refused to look at anyone, not even her.

When Yuenelia called out for him, he stared at her with eyes full of hostility. His werewolf traits were more prominent and wild.

"Stay away!" he growled at her.

She was taken aback by his aggression. He had never stared at her with such an intense expression before and until today, she was never able to forget about it.

There has always been something strange with his amnesia. People who experienced amnesia usually forget about themself; certain parts of their memories blurring, leading to them forgetting the people around them.

However, Zordyz was well aware of his own identity. Every time, he only forgets those close to him but not the random people he met on the streets. Even when he clearly remembers the event, people just seem to disappear from his memories.

It seems that the closer the person was to him, the more he forgets. Yuenelia was his closest friend and she was completely wiped off from his memory. Zordyz never forgets about his family though. Thus, his mother denying the fact that her son has amnesia.

The duration was also very short. Back in grade school, it was at most an hour. It started to become longer and longer when they started junior high.

Since Yuenelia's mother is a doctor, she too was curious about medicine from an early age. When Zordyz's amnesia struck, she was overwhelmed by how scary it was to lose someone both in physical and mental form.

From then on, she was determined to cure Zordyz's amnesia. It became her lifelong dream to cure him before he forgets everyone dear to him.

She already started to study medicine in grade school on her own free time without him knowing about it. Accumulating knowledge from basic to advanced. When they were given the option to study Magic Cure in Medicine in high school, she went straight for it.

Her heart has been pointing towards magic cure as there were no known cases such as Zordyz's in the normal medicine department.

She wanted to give it a try. If there is no cure yet, she will discover it!

She was staring into space for quite some time before she realized Zordyz was now sitting on the floor in front of her.

He noticed her tears welling up in her eyes and moved closer.

"Zor?" Yuenelia called out in a whispery voice, tears rolling down her cheeks.

Zordyz caught them before they hit the floor.

"Don't cry." he wiped them off on his tracksuit. "It doesn't suit you."

His eyes as gentle as ever, there were no signs of fear or suspicion anymore.

"You're back." Her cheeks a little flushed from his behaviour.

"What do you mean I'm back? You're in my house, of course I'm here." he raised one of his eyebrows, obviously questioning her sanity.

"I didn't mean that...nevermind." Yuenelia was too upset to explain anything.

"If you say so. Just don't go around crying like that, people might think I bullied you." Zordyz walked back to the dining table, munching on his sandwich happily.

"You're all over the place! Stop joking like that! If you don't need my help then I'm going home!" Yuenelia stomped off angrily and went out the door.

She taught he was pulling another prank on her again with his amnesia. She can't differentiate whether he was faking or really having it. It made her upset when he's pretending to forget.

Zordyz snickered behind her.

The moment she closed the door, his expression changed. He stood by the door for who knows how long, seemingly forgetting to move.

"How I wished I was joking, Yue. How I wish..." his voice turned cold. "If only I won't disappear one day."
