Chapter 8 - 7

I turn around promptly and meet the same blue eyes piercing through my soul. And it is not an exaggeration of words. Without a single step to make my escape, my body freeze and seems to be compelling onto him. He has this cruel smile playing on his lips as he watch me with lazy eyes struggling to keep my balance.

His blue eyes grows a portentous light and behind him, shadows flies towards me, baring their claws at me. My soul is being suck out of me. The pain is unbearable. I feel like my heart is ripping inside my chest, and with every breathing comes a painful heartbeat.

Shadows growing in and almost surrounding me. Their voices cries out in shrilly noises. Teeth chattering and muttering with evil purposes.

My body is slowly incapacitating while I'm forced to the ground. My face contorts but I bore my eyes to the blue-eyed man.

A maleficent foe taking his time like he hadn't all the care in the world. But he's wrong, because I still have my luck with me.

I grip the sling of my bag. "Mr. Stewart!" I shout before throwing the bag bullseye to the blue-eyed man.

He looks taken aback while Mr. Stewart springs from the bag and lands on his face.

The shadows are gone in an instant. I stand up promptly and sprints back towards the center town.

"You're not getting away from me!" I hear him scream but I don't look back.

The distance between the first line of houses from the wharf is quite far but I try to run as much as my legs can manage.

I hear Mr. Stewart yelps and there's a crash from behind. I turn around but a long callused hand grabs my face. "You think you can win with your little trick against me!" He's seething.

His fingers dig in deep on my face. My mind is reeling with thousands of visions, none of them is congenial. My heart is still beating erratically. "I don't know how you manage to slip through the cage, but you will not be getting away!" He yells before a force in his hand hurls me to the ground.

The impact almost block my breathing and I try to take as much breath into my lungs while it squeezes to the ground.

He takes droopy steps towards where I am. I try to raise my body but a foot slams itself on my chest. He idly stares at me with bored eyes. "Who are you?!" I croak.

He clicks his tongue, thoughtful. "Why, I haven't introduced myself yet," he says. "My name is Adrial. And since you won't have time until the breakfast, might as well remember it." He extends his arms to his sides. Blue flames blaze around his fingers. "Remember my name, boy. It will be the last thing you'll remember before you're devoured inside Lord Pyros's bloody mouth!"

"You're right! I'll remember you!" I wrap my arms around his leg and immobilizes him.

"Die!" he yells.

"Mr. Stewart, now!" From where Mr. Stewart crashed, a loud popping noise erupts around the area. For an instant, Mr. Stewart appears behind the Adrial man, aiming an oar to his head. Mr. Stewart swings the oar towards Adrial.

The long wooden pole propels on the air. The Adrial man turns around abruptly and almost slam himself to the oar when he ducks, momentarily surprised of the situation. "Stupid creature," he says. But that's enough for me to slip through him. From the instant his foot leaves my chest, I stumble out of him, reach out the oar to my hands and crouch low, aiming for a big hit.

"Eyes here!" I say, bravely looking into his eyes when he turns back around.

The last thing I see in them is bewilderment before I swing the oar straight towards his face. The pole vibrates in my hands as a strong wind forces the oar and knock him out in an instant. His body simply slumps to the ground while I stand there steadying my breathing. My lungs feels like it's still on fire, and I'm shivering when my soul is sucked out of me moments ago.

He's a cruel man, and Lost Town is filled with cruel people. I may not know how the situation turns out to be this way but it isn't just Lost Town that's in danger right now, the whole Emon Kingdom is in danger.

Mr. Stewart lands on the ground but all in all, he looks fine. "First mission accomplished, obtain a ship. Now, let's go onward to the seas!" I say, extending the pole to the sea.

I look back when we aboard the boat, swiftly floating on the water. I'm still not strong, I'll become stronger and defeat this Pyros's guy and send him flying to the seas. Until then, I'll sail on the four great seas, find the lost country, make the greatest book, and become stronger, I promise.

Narrator:

While the two aboard the boat maneuvered back to the Mirth Town using the route on the sea, the clock chimed the breakfast of Lord Pyros. Half a dozen of kids along with Little Don, walked the long way up to the top of the Cool Mountain.

These kids covering with dirt, looked stricken as they near the cavern which Lord Pyros hid himself.

It was almost dawn when they arrived at the entrance of the cavern, hidden behind a curtain of ivies. Into a small opening off they went, but even halfway there, the children could hear loud roars inside, almost splitting the ground with its reverberation.

They soon met a wall of flames blazing inside the cavern. And the boss himself, sitting atop the pile of bones, looked wickedly in the light of the fire.

His eyes ablaze with long broad nose flaring. His long dark hair swept to the fire. Pyros was a bulky man towering everyone with his height. His body was scarred and tattooed but a long slash from Pyros's left shoulder run down to the other side of his hip was conspicuous.

Little Don escorted, almost forcefully, the kids to Lord Pyros's feet.

"My Lord," he said. Bowing his head. Pyros laughed maniacally, startling the children. But what they soon found themselves in, one thing was certain, they could never make it out alive.

When Little Don walked outside, the cavern was filled with screams as Pyros's breakfast started without a single soul could tell the tale about the horrifying truth about Lord Pyros.
