Mr. Stewart and I sneak around the streets, hiding from scouts walking around Lost Town. They are the boss's men judging from their appearance. With bulky stature, dark hair, swords dangling on their hips, they speak violence.
I crouch down beside what look like a dilapidated bar, huffing my breath. My heart is running wild knowing I am in enemy's battleground.
Then, slowly, I run towards the exit of the alley and is soon find myself in the center of the town.
Since almost of the homes, stores, and structures are down, there is no single light that might expose me to the enemy. The only light keeps me going is the light from the moon.
Surprisingly, the sky is bathe with a vast expanse of a dark hole with no clouds interrupting the moon. And since the scouts hold torches while scouting, I know there are only three walking their rounds here.
"Who's there?!" yells a grown-up man, holding out his sword and swinging it wildly around him. My body stiff with coldness. Mr. Stewart stifles a scream, looking as scared as I man.
"Do you see anything Don?" shouts the other man only a distance off.
"Show yourself, I dare you, you ungrateful man!" says Don.
A loud noise stamps on the roof of the structure. The two man hold out their weapons at attention. I stay still, almost making it hard to breathe. The back of my body clinging to the hard surface of the structure.
I scoot closer deeper into the darkness.
"Don, don't walk near there!" says the second man. His face taught in the fire of the torch. With crooked nose and dark eyes, he stares at Don who coolly walk towards where I am.
"Don't bother sir Cadmon, because Little Don is here. No need to be afraid." He flexes his arm holding the sword, swinging across him and pose like a god poses in the statue.
The noise continues to stamp on the roof. Little Don readies himself until a huge cat jumps down from above. Mr. Stewart squeak but lucky for us, Little Don with his proud and confident stature, jumps and cries out, throwing the torch towards the huge cat. The cat scampers off leaving a shrilly cry, throwing a look of disgust to Little Don.
I take a deep breath and release it slowly.
Little Don clears his throat almost too loudly and composes himself. "See? No need to fear because Little Don is here." He laughs shortly while walking to the torch.
"Not surprising for the Little Don." The third man walks ungenially towards the two. He snickers, looking terribly towards Don. His eyes are holes of sockets with dark blue pupils piercing through it.
I don't have time to hang around with these dangerous people, I turn back on my heels and change my route to the shore of Lost Town.
"Little Don, ready the kids in a half hour and head towards Lord Pyros." I hear the third man says while slowly and inconspicuously walking to the other end of the alley.
"Don't boss me around, Adrial! I know my time has come to protect the Lord, so I'll come to his aid," I hear him say thoughtfully.
"Just don't do stupid things," says Adrial.
"Don't worry my friend, because Little Don is here..." I look back one last time, catching one of the blue eyes bore its gaze towards me before sprinting to the other direction.
With Mr. Stewart's sense of direction, we manage to arrive on the wharf. There are at least three huge ships docks to the side of the wharf. With this enormous ship, we can easily be spotted, so, I look around for a more manageable boat until when I can find a more suitable ship for my crews.
There is a boat that can carry at least ten persons on board docks to the far end of the wharf. My dream isn't likely to be just a dream. I can sail around the world, find the lost country of the stars, and write the world's greatest book of adventure around the world. Until then, my hopes and dreams crushes when I hear a lone steps walking towards where I am.
The boat is within my reach but seems likely to be far away. "And you think I didn't noticed you, you impudent child!"
