Mian heaved a subtle sigh of relief, before asking, "Okay, at least tell me, why are you driving this fast? You will receive tickets for sure, if you don't slow down already. You are driving at full speed, as if a tiger is coming after us!"
To say Mian's heart was in tremor would be an understatement. She lost all the colours of her face in fear.
Several times, Mian screamed and closed her eyes thinking Nina would hit the vehicles beside them, however, the latter managed to graze past them in the last second. Nevertheless, God wouldn't favour the reckless drivers all the time, would he?
Nina looked at Mian askance. "It would be still okay, if it was a tiger that was coming after us; but the problem is, the one you just provoked is none other than 'The Monster' Li Mian!"
"What do you mean?" Mian asked, confusion written all over her face.
Nina didn't reply to Mian's question immediately. Instead, she kept driving, only stopping her car when they reached her apartment building.
As soon as Nina parked her car in the parking lot, Mian immediately stepped out of it, thanking the heavens for saving her dear life this time.
The car race did stop, however, Mian's heart race didn't; it was still beating very fast. She swore she would never get into Nina's car ever again, even if she did, she wouldn't let Nina drive.
Contrastingly, Nina was completely unaffected by the way Mian was shooting daggers at her. Instead, she grabbed a hold on Mian's hand, and headed towards the elevator.
Nina resided in a small apartment, on the 25th floor. After swiping her room card, they entered the apartment.
The moment Mian set foot inside, she discovered Nina's apartment was small and cozy. It had one bedroom, one guest room, one living room, two bathrooms and a small kitchen in it, which was perfect for one person.
Nonetheless, the problem was, it was very messy and dirty. Dresses and magazines were lying haphazardly everywhere. Above that, there were unwashed glasses, coffee cups, and stained plates on the tables and basin.
No sooner had these things entered her sight, than Mian nearly chucked up. Being a doctor, she was a very neat freak and hygienic person. Moreover, Mian had OCD issues. She wanted everything clean and in place. Hence, it was very uncomfortable for her to be in her sister's apartment. In fact, she was fighting her urge to run away from there right that moment.
Nina took off her shoes randomly; throwing her car keys on the shoe rack, she changed into her slippers and put another pair of slippers in front of Mian, who was debating in her mind whether to enter inside or run away.
"Do you want to know whom you have provoked today?" Nina asked.
Mian scrunched up her nose, and said, "You can tell me that later. First, let's start cleaning."
Mian had nothing else to say, as she knew Nina too well. This girl would never change. Nina had been a messy and disorganized type of person since childhood. Mian was aware, if she gave Nina a lecture about cleaning, the latter would say that she would keep her home clean next time.
Mian grew up hearing that same line from Nina, but that so-called 'next time' never came actually.
'Fuck!' Nina cursed inside her heart, as it had totally eclipsed her mind to call someone for cleaning the apartment, before she went to receive Mian from Beijing International Airport. Of course, she knew about Mian's OCD.
She became so excited when she heard that Mian was coming back from the States, that she left from the set without coming to her apartment first.
'If this girl has to stay here any longer in this condition, she will definitely throw up.'
Nina scratched the back of her neck in embarrassment. "Well, I am calling the house clean, so you don't have to do it by yourself. You must be exhausted after a 15 hours long flight and then shopping." Nina said, completely forgetting about The Monster.
"Fine," Mian hadn't opposed, as she was really flight-worn. "But do it quickly. You know that I can't sleep as long as my surroundings are not cleaned, and don't forget to order takeout as we need to eat as well." Mian gave Nina a reminder, as the latter was a very forgetful person.
Nina nodded her head in response. "Sure thing."
After Mian had gone to the guest room, Nina called two house-cleaners to make the process faster. When Mian came out of her room after taking shower, everything was neat and clean.
"We are leaving for Shanghai tomorrow morning." Mian said, as she took a seat beside Nina and uncovered the lids of dishes on the table.
"Doubtlessly." Nina's eyes were travelling on the dishes. When it came to food, she was a conceited peacock, very picky about the stuff that would go to her stomach. By good fortune, Dynasty was just a few metres away from her apartment. Moreover, one of the prerogatives of being the country's top model was surprisingly 50% discount in Dynasty. Otherwise, all of her income would go down to the restaurant alone; as she was without doubt the very worst kind of cook.
Nina picked up a glistening, oily shrimp and put it on her mouth eagerly. Nonetheless, she didn't get the chance to absorb the taste, as Mian suddenly asked, "By the way, who was the Monster, you were talking about?"
Nina almost choked on her food, she immediately stopped eating and stared at Mian with a serious expression.
By that moment, Mian could surmise, he might be a quite someone.
Nina took a deep breath to calm her nerves, before letting loose a tirade upon Mian.
"You have been staying in the states for the last 9 years, so I can totally understand that you don't know him." Nina stopped for a second, then continued again, "But, this tall, sturdy, masked man is called, 'The Monster'. Nobody has ever seen his face yet, except for maybe his family and some friends.
However, he is a very feared figure in Beijing and the richest businessman of Asia. He took up his family business at a very young age and made it number one in Asia. Now, he is planning to invade the European business market."
