Mian heard a humming noise, the one usually a dramatic ceiling fan produced, swarming across the air. The distant strike of a helicopter's blades made an entrance within the sight as it sprinted away from its base, on a mountain's peak, and landed on the helipad near the beach.
A ladder staircase with non-steep nature, came out from the air ambulance to the ground. He strode into the lavender garden toward the awaiting helicopter, and rushed up the stairs with her in the arms.
Mian saw smoke diffusing through the air, just before the helicopter set in motion and started its stomach-churning series of moves again.
"What did you promise me on our first night, Li Mian?! Already forgot your promise!" He roared consumed by anguish and breath-robbing sobs. Grief had overwhelmed him so completely, it was like a bad dream he could not shake off.
Mian touched his face, and familiar warmth flashed through her fingertips, easing the pain in heart. She wrapped her arms around his muscular neck with her almost strengthless arms, breathing in his familiar scent.
What did she say? Oh yeah, she remembered.
"I love you; you are my sunshine and rays of hope. You fulfilled my life in a way I never thought it could be. Being with you, brings out the purest smile from the deepest depth of my heart. Your magnetic presence engulfs me in a bubble of happiness, and decorates me with all the positivity. So my eternal partner, from this moment onwards, my eternity is only yours."
Her confession to him. But, things changed, she couldn't even claim him hers anymore!
"Hey, why are you dilly-dallying?! Make it fast! Draw all the blood from my body, we share the same blood group!" He let loose a roar of emotion.
The flight was staffed with the elite of medical professionals trained in administering critical care to his military personnel and bodyguards involving traumatic injury; whenever such situations occurred. Moreover, this one was the latest developed one. Thus, it wasn't limited in any scope of care, and could provide a much higher level of facilities than the regular ones.
While he put her on the bed for immediate surgery, a short clip of biography or should she have said, the infamous 'life review' started playing before Mian's eyes. Half-dazed, she stared at the life-flash, where their story began, and she saw him for the first time.
Exasperated as they were on that day, bandying words with eachother fused their lives together in a way none of them could have envisioned.

"Mian, you are finally back in China! You have no idea how much I missed you! Just tell me, who the fuck told you to be a neurosurgeon? I am going to flatten him by beating; then hoist him in a chair, only to force feed him a plenitude of bitter gourd juice!" Nina, a hot supermodel, said, rotating her tight fist. Then, she began pounding her fists alternately into her palms.
At that time, Nina looked just like an avenging angel, set out to torment the devil with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels!
Mian couldn't help but laugh out loud. Her smiling lips flowed a high and childish laugh, a sound that gladdened people's hearts.
She was exactly like some divine deity, who descended on earth; having skin as white as snow, hair as black as gloomy mid night. Her facial features were best described as sharp; big watery eyes, small sharp nose, pouty rose petal lips, and long white slender neck like a swan.
Everyone's gaze moved towards their table as the girls sipped on the cups of coffee. Some handsome men even started hitting on them. However, both girls just sat there totally unmoved, seemingly oblivious of their surroundings and the young fellas observing them with unmitigated admiration.
"I have already told you a thousand times, being a neurosurgeon was my own decision. I know, in the last few years, I couldn't give you our 'bestie time'. However, I promise, now that I'm back, I will make it up to you in the best possible way. We will be going skiing, skating, watching horror movies, and shopping together just like the old times!"
Nina's mood brightened up instantly, the second Mian's words entered her ears. There was a sparkle on her face, which was beaming with expectancy. Nonetheless, in state of anticipation, Nina protruded her chest in a way that made Mian an ephemeral spokesperson for her heedless sister, and laugh awkwardly in flusteredness.
Mian smiled sheepishly at Nina, and said with slightly raised eyebrows, "Well, with the pushed up bra, and this posture, your boobs will probably jump out in next second."
Nina enlarged her eyes, and bared her milky white, small teeth in a broad smile that bore closer resemblance to a Pepe grimace meme, before shifting and readjusting her boobies. "You can't expect the hottest model to wear a turtleneck like you. Duh!" Nina said, teasing back, with a twinkle in her eyes.
A beautiful smile blossomed in Mian's face, there was a sense of fondness and nostalgia on her face. "Do you remember when we were little kids, mom used to buy the exact same dresses, shoes, and bags for us?"
"Ah-ha," Nina replied, stirring her coffee with the straw. She leaned back in her chair, eyeing Mian for more information.
Mian sent her sister an excited look over her coffee cup before she spoke, "Let's buy the same clothes for us today. I know we have grown our differences in preferences, let's just compromise a little bit today."
Nina grinned and clutched her coffee cup. "Sure! In this way, I can make you show a little bit of your snow white skin to the world!" She winked at Mian with a naughty grin plastered on her lips.
"Maybe, your long, snow white, straight, shapely legs? Come on, let the world know how sexy and gorgeous this genius doctor is!"
Mian shrugged her shoulders, and said, "Not sure about the world, but I don't mind showing you some, babe!"
Since her sister was in the mood for a little blinking of the eyes, flip of the hair, and some frisky fun in kittenish voice with coquettish grin, she didn't mind playing along once in a while.
Mian could see Nina's shocked face in the glow from the sunlight.
"You sure have become naughty!"
If Nina didn't know Mian any better, she would have thought Mian was bent.
Mian gave the former a wink, and neither could resist the compulsion to burst into a peal of ringing laughter.
