Mu Yuhaan went to the balcony to clear his foggy mind, as he gulped down a mouthful of coffee. Holding the handle of the mug, he settled down on a white Louis Vuitton Swing Boat hanging from the ceiling.
Last night when he saw Mian's light four packs, he instantly figured out that she exercised regularly. On the 40th floor, there was a private gymnasium; reserved for only two apartments on that floor. If his gut feeling served him right, then Mian would definitely go there.
The corollary was, he had been planning to go there, and see Mian again since last night. From the information Mu Yuhaan gathered about her, he knew, If she had a morning shift, she would have to be present in the hospital at 9am sharp. Therefore, Mian was supposed to be in the gym at 7am at least.
Every time, the swing leaped forward, Mu Yuhaan craned his neck and glanced at the Wide Black and Gold Modern Open Wall Clock attached on the white wall over an Antique Old Mahogany Card Table.
"Why is the clock walking so slowly today?! Something must have gone wrong." He stood up, and took his cellphone again; however, to make his hackles rise, it was working aligned with the open clock! Exasperated, he went to his study and glared at the European Style Antique Solid Wood Grandfather Clock; the thick-meaty hand of its was stuck at Five, while it's comparably taller hand was snailing towards the point-four, indicating twenty minutes.
Well, all the clocks were bought on the day he moved here, and his secretary set the time in them. If one clock's timing was wrong, then it was only natural that all of them were wrong!
Mu Yuhaan hurriedly went to his dial list and called his assistant.
The moment 'Special ringtone' prearranged only for his boss entered Wang Eric's ears, he bolted up, "President Mu," he answered the call and bowed his head in courtesy, before realising Mu Yuhaan couldn't see him. Anyway, he didn't have to wait even a second, as the deep male voice came from the other side.
"What is the time now?"
What was the time now?! Did he just sleep like a log and didn't even realize the sun was already over the head?
Wang Eric snapped his head towards the window, and heaved a sigh of relief seeing the sun hadn't greeted folks yet. Like most of his nights, last night he slept after three in the morning. Sustaining as Mu Yuhaan's assistant came with endless nights of sleep deprivation!
Could President Mu not check the time before calling? He just hit the bed two hours ago, after working nonstop for 16 hours! Wait, did the formal just call him to know the time?!
Wang Eric stifled his yawn, suppressed his grogginess, then felt around for his glasses on the side table beside his bed, as normally he kept it there.
Nevertheless, time was unchancy for Wang Eric, as his spectacles fell onto the ground with a subtle crisp sound. He hurriedly bent over and picked it up. Alas! One of the frames was half-broken.
"What's taking you so long?" Mu Yuhaan asked impatiently.
Wang Eric didn't even have a chance to lament over his most expensive pair of eyewears, before gulping down his bitterness. Offending such a grand, influential, and powerful man early in the morning would bring him endless nightmares that he couldn't afford!
He pushed the gold-rimmed glasses up the bridge of his nose, then replied, "President Mu, it's Five-twenty one." There was no sign of annoyance at the interruption of his deep-sleep.
Wang Eric was expecting some more words from his reticent boss, however, Mu Yuhaan hung up the phone abruptly giving no explanation.
Mu Yuhaan ran his hands over his lush hair, a clean hint of annoyance. He couldn't believe it, all of his patience-practice was completely exhausted within the span of just one week!
Anyway, it was better to shed some sweats in the gymnasium than pulling off his hair in exasperation.
It is said, Time and Tide wait for none. However, at that particular moment, it seemed like time was eating-lotus torturing Mu Yuhaan slowly in its trap!
As the 4080 seconds passed by in slow motion, Mu Yuhaan's anger was building on the other way around running on the Treadmill.
Time God dared not go overboard lest perchance some of his followers should fall into some ruination caused by this angry-avatar, thus, He sent the latter's placebo.
Finally, when Mu Yuhaan caught the sight of Mian coming towards the gymnasium from the corner of his eye, it was already 6.30am. His heart started racing faster, however, he showed no emotion on his face.
The moment, Mian entered the gym, she spotted someone else there; her gaze lasted on the person for a while.
This presumably 191 centimetres tall guy was donning a pair of navy blue sweat pants and a white T-shirt. He had a fair complexion and black, thick hair. As for his face, Mian couldn't see that, as she was facing his back.
Anyway, who cared?
The reason she took a minute to observe him was because of the ridiculous prank, he played on her last night.
Obviously, Mian didn't believe in superstitions like apparition, lemures blah-blah-blah. In fact, the moment Mian found her coffee mug empty, she straight away figured out that someone else was there on the terrace.
Then why did she run?
Because Mian didn't want to confront that 'Whoever' person in her 'Super-short' short and crop top. She was uncomfortable in wearing revealing clothes in front of strangers.
However, after coming back to her apartment, she didn't immediately retire to her bedroom, instead, she waited behind her main door for that person to descend.
There was no sound of that person's footsteps, but the next minute her neighbour's door had been closed with a thud. That's how she guessed who it was.
As a result, Mian didn't have a good impression of her sneaky neighbour.
