Chapter 19 - The Forgotten

"Madame, nothing good will come of entering the Southern Territory. I'm not sure how you received a token...furthermore I am not sure how it ended up in your stomach, but if it is knowledge you seek-" "It's Diego. He-*cough cough* He's not...at least not completely. *cough* He needs..." Wren's voice trailed off and she began to wobble where she sat, Sir Shoyo rushed to her side, but she ended up falling back onto the bed and lost consciousness once more.

Soon after Wren fell unconscious Vivi returned with a pen and a small bowl of fruit. Her eyes grew wide and she was about to speak when Sir Shoyo interrupted, "Miss Vivian, please bring Sir Michael to Madame Priestess side. I fear we will have a long road in front of us as we purge her body of the toxins from the Ancient Tree's sap. If we keep them in close proximity, we can monitor their progress and tend to them in a timely manner. Madame Priestess has indeed fallen unconscious once more, however her body is stable. She will be in incredible pain and we will need to monitor her closely. I can attend to these two young women while you transport Sir Michael here. Go now." Sir Shoyo's words gave no room for comment. Vivi simply nodded her head, put the fruit bowl down, and used her abilities to transport her to Michael.

'Hm? Where am I? I thought Aster was going to take care of this, but this looks like...a young girl's room?' Michael had since woken up and stood up from the bed in which he had previously been lying on. He looked around the small room. The decorations were simple, but he could assumed from the pastel purple and orange colors that were scattered through out the room, that this belonged to someone younger. There were a few drawings of flowers and other scenes from nature hanging on the walls. His eyes followed the wall to a small dresser for clothing, and on top was a small blue frame that had been knocked over, hiding the picture it held.

Fearing he was the one who caused it to topple over, he walked to the dresser and picked up the frame, and was astonished by what he saw. Even though the frame was no bigger than his hand, the detail of the painting was similar to a photograph. He had not seen a professional quality, family portrait, painting on a canvas this small. There was a young girl, around the age of an infant, sitting in a small infant chair. She had light pink hair and purple tinted eyes. Next to her was a young girl around her teenage years, also sitting in a small chair. This young girl also had pink hair but it was a darker shade and she had orange colored eyes. Behind the second girl stood a young man, possibly in his late teen years, his skin was darker than the two girls, but he also had hair that was a dark shade of pink and his eyes were orange. "Hey, are you awake?"

Michael was startled by the voice and almost dropped the painting. He set the frame back down and walked towards the bed. "Yes, I am awake. You may come in-" Before he could finish Vivi opened the door and had a big smile on her face. "Yay! I knew you would be alright. I told him I was ready!" Vivi closed the door behind her and proceeded to do a small "victory dance" twirling around in a circle. Michael couldn't help but smile, "Pardon my interruption, but may I ask, are you an apprentice if Sir Shoyo now?" Michael was attempting to get Vivi to focus, "Oh yes I'm sorry Mich-I mean SIR Michael. I am an apprentice of Sir Shoyo and I'm also a Lightening Unit Trainee." Vivi puffed out her chest proudly.

Being a Lightening Unit member himself Michael nodded, "Ah, you used your teleportation to bring us to...to your room I'm assuming? I am grateful to your help Miss...oops I didn't catch your name. Would you please inform me of..." Vivi couldn't help but stare at Michael. 'Whoa, he is suuuuper hot! Oh wow and he's even in...my...roo-OH MY GOSH! This is so inappropriate!' As Vivi was going through different thoughts in her head she was first smiling, then she was staring intently at his face, then her face turned bright red and she had a look of panic. She immediately walked back to the door and opened it, choosing to stand in the doorway instead if near the bed.

"My apologies Sir Michael. This-this was super improper of me, I didn't mean anything lewd, I'm sorry. When Aster told me to take you I just, I just...blah blah" Vivi continued to ramble on saying sorry over and over and Michael waved his arms near her face to let her know it was okay and not a big deal. Finally after a few more moments, she apologized for apologizing. "Just tell me your name, please. I have seen you around the temple, but I don't believe we have been formally introduced." Michael was basically pleading with her, "Oh, my name is Vivian but everyone calls me Vivi. I have been an apprentice for just over one year. I brought you here to take care of your wounds without the others knowing." Vivi's eyes were darting anywhere, avoiding making direct eye contact with Michael. When her eyes landed on the blue frame, she stopped talking and walked over towards the dresser.

"Oh, yes, I apologize Miss Vivi, I was under the assumption I toppled it over...uhm do you want to tell me about them? The ones in the picture? Am I correct in assuming they are your relatives?" Vivi grabbed the blue frame and held it closer so she could look at the painting. "Yes, my siblings actually. The one sitting is my elder sister Galina. The boy standing behind us is my eldest brother Dimitri and the other boy farther to the side is our second elder brother Misha, he is younger than Dimitri This portrait doesn't do his hair or eyes justice though. In the portrait he is portrayed with hair the same as my elder brother and sister, while his eyes are similar to my own. But, he really had brilliant blue eyes and pale purple hair.

Every one of my siblings has long been forgotten. We were once a prominent family, Father worked overseas and Mother worked on the mainland nearest our territory. During the war, we were separated and only my Mother, elder sister, and elder brother's bodies were recovered. Dmitri and our Father were never found. When you hear people in town whisper about "The forgotten family," they are referring to us.

After the war, news came out that Father and possibly Dmitri, were involved in illegal business, so our name was tainted shortly after. I should be used to this now, but-so many memories come rushing back every time I see their faces even though I was only a toddler when it happened. This is the only picture I have of my family now." Vivi stared at the picture, then looked over towards Michael. Michael had an apologetic look on his face, "I am sorry to hear about your struggles in life. I hope you have gotten along well since then. My family was lost also, that is how me and Madame Priestess first met." Michael smiled at Vivi and she smiled back. "Thank you Sir Michael. Madame Priestess is actually the reason I came. I am here to take us back to Sir Shoyo. Are you ready?" Michael nodded. "Good," Vivi put the frame back on the dresser and walked towards Michael. "Close your eyes please," Michael did as he was told and shortly after hears a whooshing sound of wind rushing past his ears.
