I took a deep breath and wondered where should I start. The Prince just smiles at me while waiting for what I am about to say. His dark hair looks so soft the more I look at it. I wonder does he have to brush his hair or it just dries like that? What will he look like if he brushes it up and uses gel? Will he look like those classy anime boys? Oh my, I can imagine it! I can feel my heart getting crazy while imagining him with that look!
"Miss?" The Prince snapped his finger in front of me.
"I'm sorry!" I covered my face, why do I have to daydream about him when he's clearly in front of me? "I was just thinking, what is your education system? In my world, we have different grade levels, we start in kindergarten or pre-school then the last level will be a college where we will specialize in our chosen field."
I cleared my throat, that was dangerous. I should stop daydreaming now.
He nodded his head and leaned on the chair, "It's almost the same, Miss Amelia. But we don't have kindergarten or college here. It's just leveling."
He looked at me as if I'm a student he's teaching. I can't believe I just noticed that his eyes are different colors! The left one is golden brown while the other is blue-green! Maybe it's because the light's directly hitting his eyes. I don't know anyone with a condition like that in real life. What was that called again? Hetretochromia? Heterochromia?
I was squinting my eyes while thinking but the Prince snapped his fingers in front of me to call my attention.
"Children around 3 to 5 will be in level one, they'll teach how to read, write, draw and other lessons for kids. Then, ages 6 to 10 will have more advanced teaching. Once a child becomes a teenager, specifically 13 years old, they will begin specializing in the field they are born to be included."
I tilted my head, included? What does that mean? And isn't it too early to be serious in whatever they are destined to be?
It seems like the Prince noticed my reaction, he chuckled and nodded, "Miss Amelia, remember that our world is different than yours. Children tend to show their powers around the age of 8 to 10, which is why it is important to teach them early on how to control it."
I awkwardly smiled, yeah, I almost forgot about that. The Prince and the others around me don't look like they aren't normal, unlike the bride candidates who have horns, tails, and wings.
"I see." I nodded, "What are the fields of specialization do you have here?"
I wonder, are there chemist? Physicist? Doctors?
"Uh," the Prince looked up while thinking, "I guess, there are a lot. Normally, when a child is a normal breed, they can be an attendant, a maid, butler, drivers, carpenters, and alike. But when a child has a much powerful breed, they can be knights, assassins, leaders, captains and more."
He smiled at me, but I am alarmed by the assassin. Then, assassination happens here? Is it a normal job or an illegal one?
"But..." I suddenly wondered, "What about those who have the strongest power? Is there someone or a breed like that?"
I furrowed my brows at him, then there are also levels of power here, huh? Then that means granny and my maids have lower power, and Regin has a bit more power than them.
The Prince's glance suddenly changed, his eyes went sharp and dark as if the light is being covered by darkness. I gulped, did I say something wrong?
"I'm sorry--" I whispered but he suddenly spoke over me.
"Yes! There are stronger breeds, Miss, but that doesn't concern you anymore. Now, why don't you tell me about what an apartment is?" He said, and his dark aura suddenly changed into his usually smiling face.
I tried to smile and told him what an apartment is and how much it cost until he asked me what an anime is, which is the exciting part!
"Anime, well," I cleared my throat, I'm the genius about this topic! "It's an animation, and it's the greatest creation ever made~" I smiled and gladly told him about my favorite series and movies, as well as voice actors and live actions.
I can't help but smile the whole time telling him about anime. It's just the only thing there is to distract me.
"I watch every day, every morning, night, or anytime I feel lonely..." I sighed, then I noticed what I just said, "I mean when I'm bored! I watch when I'm bored and there's nothing to do." I chuckled, I don't want him to think that I'm a sad human being who throws herself into binge-watching anime series to cope.
"I see," the Prince smiled at me warmly as if he's sad for me because I feel that way.
And I just remembered, he didn't answer my question on why he's spending his time with me!
"Hey, you didn't answer my question earlier---"
"Look at the time! It's noon already," the Prince stood up and bowed, "I have to get going, Miss Amelia. I'm glad that you're already fine," he said and went to me and kneeled. "I'm looking forward to tomorrow's meeting," he took my hand and kissed it.
I can't help but stare at his soft hair, I want to touch it! It looks so fluffy and warm. I was about to touch it, luckily he stood up and I was able to pull back my hand.
"Goodbye," I whispered as he turns his back.
I was assisted back to my room by the maid who held the umbrella earlier, and when I entered, I saw Lili wiping the windows, while Lulu was sweeping the floor and Lala was arranging the roses in the vase on my cabinet.
"Hello," I greeted, "What can I do to help?" I asked as I close the door behind me.
Everyone looked at me and smiled, "Miss!" they greeted.
"We're almost done here, Miss Amy," Lulu said as she takes a last look at the red and white roses.
"Where's granny?" I went and took a seat on the couch near the windows. The sun is shining brightly and even though I walked inside the mansion from the garden, it's still hot.
While I was staring outside at the fountain in front of the mansion, Lala gave me an iced tea and biscuit. "Please, wait for your lunch. We will go down and prepare it for you."
They excused themselves and left me after they finished their work, while I just stare outside.
During this time, I either sleep or watch when I don't have a class. I wonder, is my world still spinning? Am I missing a lot of updated mangas and anime? Are my professors crossing out my attendance?
The sunshine suddenly made my eyes grew heavy. I laid my head on the table and decided to take a quick nap. They will wake me up once lunch is ready. I doze off quickly without even noticing a few bride candidates entering my room.
"Look at this pathetic human!" A bride with a tail of a dragon said as her nose let out smoke named Drina, "She's ugly! She looks like a maid!"
Fiann, with a wide grin on her scaly face, agreed, "I know, right? She looks too plain, like a paper. We can burn her easily."
The bride, Pauline, with long pointy fingers nodded, "I wonder why the Prince decided to meet her in the morning? It's against the rules!"
They went near Amy and watch her shoulders rise and fall while sleeping peacefully.
"Woah," Fiann stared at Amy's face, "Her skin looks flawless! There are a few scars, but still, it's rosy and it looks soft," she said as she was about to poke Amy's cheek but Drina slapped her hand.
"No, she'll wake up!" Drina's brows are furrowed and while her nose blows smoke, "Oh, look at her hair, it's so silky and shiny!" She smiled and held Amy's hair.
"I wonder what herb or insect guts she uses to have this hair?" Drina added while feeling Amy's hair texture, but Pauline pulled them away from Amy.
"We're not here to worship a lowly human! She's a threat! She's the snake among us!" Pauline whispered while pointing her long fingers at Amy.
"Isn't Cassandra the snake among us?" Drina asked while looking at Fiann.
"Yeah, she's a literal snake. What are you talking about, Pauline? Amelia's a human." Fiann looked at Pauline with a face full of questions on why Pauline called Amy a snake.
"This is why I should do this job of protecting the Prince alone! You two are stupid! Stupid!" Pauline screamed, waking Amy up a little.
Drina and Fiann pulled Pauline and covered her mouth and went behind Amy, who held her head up with her eyes still closed, "Lelouch?" she murmurs and went back to sleep.
Fiann, Drina, and Pauline looked at each other after Amy said another man's name.
"She's a snake!" they all whispered lowly with a gaze that can cut Amy's head.
Pauline snorted and smirked before they left the room, "Be ready for the embarrassment you'll face starting tonight, you female dog!"
