Chapter 7 - Gossips

"Miss, your lunch is ready," Lili softly whispered in my ear.

I stretched out my arms with my eyes still closed because of the light coming from the window beside me. I can smell my delicious food, pork! For the past days, all they've been serving me wasn't my type of food, but today, I'll get to eat sweetly.

Lulu served the food and they waited for me to finish. I munch slowly the pork in my mouth. I can feel it almost melting while I savor the taste. The sweet and salty flavor's balanced and its tenderness is perfect!

But as I was taking my last spoonful of rice, I saw a scale on the table. It's colored blue and a bit large for a fish scale.

Lala must've noticed it and went to me, she took the scale and stared at me like she's about to murder someone, "Did someone came here, Miss Amy?"

I shook my head, I was taking a nap here peacefully and I didn't hear nor feel anyone entering.

She looked at Lulu and Lili, "We must tell Regin about this."

I just shrugged my shoulders and finished my food. They may be worried about my safety, but who would want to hurt a human like me? I'm not causing any trouble to anyone. I'm just having a fun time here before I go back.

Regin and Granny arrived after an hour with a bouquet and a gift on their hands, they smiled at me and gave it to me.

"These are from the Prince, he said this is a present for you since you're feeling well. And he asked you to wear this tomorrow," Granny said and opened the gift, a lavender lace dress came flowing down.

I stared at it for a while, to be honest, I'm not a dress type of person. I prefer jeans, rubber shoes, and pajamas over this, but still, this one is so pretty!

Then, Granny pulled a rose-shaped bottle of perfume.

"He asked if you like this fragrance since you can't wear any of the perfume given to you, he wanted to know if you can wear this."

I took the perfume and sprayed once on my arm and waited for it to dry then I sniffed it once. Then, twice, and thrice.

"I like it!"

It smells so light and there's a hint of clean scent to it, but also, it smells fruity! I like it so much that I leaned on my arm to just spend my time sniffing it off.

This is the most decent fragrant I had ever smell since I came here.

"You seem to love the smell, Miss." Lulu noticed and smiled at me while cleaning the plates on the table.

"Yeah, it has this Hygenic hint but it's also fruity. I like how light it smells."

Lala came and placed the perfume on my dresser.

"Miss, what fruits do you like? Maybe we have it here, and we can serve it to you for your snacks later," she said and hopped back to us.

"I love a lot of fruits, but my favorite is an apple." I smiled and imagine biting a crunchy and sweet apple in my mind. Then I noticed Regin looking around the room.

"Is something wrong?" I asked.

Granny shook her head, "Miss, if you ever decide to take a nap, lock the door," she looks worried with her wrinkles on her forehead digging even deeper with her frown.

"I'm sorry," I said, "Is this about the scale?"

Lili nodded, "Miss, you don't know how dangerous leaving the door open for you. We shouldn't have left you alone."

Lala sighed at stomped her feet, "I will find out who entered Miss' room! A trespasser!" She yelled with her fist up in her chest.

I laughed, is it really this serious? What can go wrong?

I nonchalantly laid down and read some books, while my maids went out again to find an apple, while Regin tried to talk to some people outside if they saw someone entering my room.

Granny and I were left in my room. She was arranging the bouquet the Prince gave me in a vase next to the roses Lulu fixed earlier.

Everything was peaceful, I was humming one of the anime opening theme song when Lala entered with a red face and messy hair.

Lili came next while pulling another girl's hair behind her, then Lulu came with another girl with a bruised cheek.

Granny and I panicked and stood up.

"What's this?!" Granny yelled and ran towards the maids.

I walked towards Lala and gave her a glass of water. She looks exhausted and angry.

"These maids are spouting ridiculous nonsense about the Miss!" Lulu answered.

It's the first time I saw her like this, she's usually calm and collected, but looking at her like she can kill an army of a soldier, it's really scary.

"What nonsense?" Granny asked and pulled the girls from my maids, "Whose maids are you?"

The maids shot a sharp glance at me and chuckled as if they're not hurt.

"She looks like she can't even hurt a fly, but she's a dirty woman!" The girl with braided hair said.

"Annalie!" Granny yelled and the girl flinched, "She's my master, how dare you say those words!"

The other maid then spoke and even rested her right hand on her hips, "Well, it's true, madam! One of the bride candidates heard her speak another man's name!"

"Clarissa, where did you hear that?" Granny asked with furrowed brows.

Clarissa rolled her eyes at me and looked at Granny, "We don't know where it came from but everyone in this mansion's talking about it."

Annalie nodded, "Yeah! We're not the only ones saying those words! And also, her maids are uncontrollable! They don't have values!"

Lili was about to punch Annalie again but Regin stopped her arm midair.

"Enough, stop acting like kids in front of Miss Amelia," Regin said and went to whisper to Granny.

Annali stuck her tongue out to Lili.

They are really still kids. Gossips aren't worth anyone's time. And since I am a mature lady, I just snorted and went to sit down next to the window and continued reading one of this place's famous novel.

I can hear them arguing, but another thing caught my eyes.

The other brides are talking to each other outside near the fountain and taking glances at me.

Even though they have weird body parts like wings and horns, they still look beautiful like fairies.

I wonder, if I was born here, what would I look like? Will I be like a mermaid? A cyclops? A centaur?

I giggled while imagining myself, but a tap on my shoulders woke me up.

Two guards are facing me.

I stood up and looked at Regin who's standing beside them.

"Miss, the council wants to speak to you," Regin said with a cold voice, while his icy stare's darted towards the guards.

I looked around but Granny and the maids are nowhere to be found, it's just me, Regin and these guards who looked like they want to throw me in a pit full of snakes.

Did I do anything wrong?
