Chapter 13 - 13. Gar and the Puppet Mistress (Part 1: Thia)

Thia stood near Kalyssa and Ash. Missles of arcane power firing from her palms at the now moving murderous puppets. Thok and Thordak were slashing through the lot of them only for so many to reassemble and attack once again. Emrad was using a short sword but it was starting to become a hassle. He then yelled to his companions.

"Thordak and I could attempt to set them ablaze with our dragon breath." Thia then snapped at him. "And risk being surrounded by not puppets but by flames. Smart plan!" He grumbled and responded. "Just stating some options." "Phantom where are...." He looked to their weird companion to see that the yelling was really coming from him and he was flailing about. "Phantom you have to calm down and focus." Phantom stopped flailing and let go of the lantern he was holding. It flew acrossed the room and landed. Like a molotov it exploded the surrounding fabrics and wooden puppets ablaze.

"Uh oh... um Fire!" Phantom yelled to others. Too busy with a few of the puppets. Thokk dispatched a few climbing onto Ash and picked him up into a fireman's carry. Thia casting spells used her free hand to try and get Kalyssa to snap out of her trance. "Kalyssa we have to move now!" She shouted. This made Kalyssa snap out of her trance. She immediately stood up and began to help with slashing at a few puppets with her blades.

As they exited the room a few puppets followed but others stayed in the room. The chitter of their wooden mouths made it sound like laughter. When they arrived at the bottom of the stairs. Phantom ran half yelling to the other staircase.

As the team exited the mansion. Kalyssa walked behind them outside with her right hand holding her left elbow. This clearly shown that she was not doing so well. Thia knew this uncomfortable look on Kalyssa's face and body language. Thia knew Kalyssa was worried for the goblin.

Thia draped her arm over Kalyssa's shoulders and pull her head into her. "I couldn't help him Thia. I c-couldn't...." she began to sob and Thia said. "None of us could. But they did express that he was not to be harmed. For whatever reason that we don't know. But I am sure he is safe. I wanna ask what is the green one to you."

Before sobbing into Thia once more. Kalyssa speaks weakly. "Everything...."

Thia and the rest head off down the road as the mansion behind them burns. Little did they know that. This fated encounter wasn't the last.
