Chapter 4 - 4. Gar and the Huntress

Gar tried to squirm free but his captor was stronger and she spoke quietly. "Quit your squirming or they will hear us." Gar tried to calm himself but his tiny heart was beating a million times a minute. He moved his eyes to see his captor and wished he didn't really cause what he saw made his eyes grow wide. She had him held against her chest with her head above his. Her cleavage was just barely held within her armor and leather top. She had peach colored skin and she smelled like the pines of the great woods just beyond his swamp. It reeked but soothed him at the same time from the scent. He stared a second then looked up to see her gaze. He flinched when he saw her looking at him. She bore a slight smile and winked "You're a cheeky little thing."

Gar blushed his green face turning a little red then shook free from her grip and settled down still scared. But he had a small feeling he was safe at least for now. She stood up and looked around. Her platinum blonde hair fell over her breast as she looked up the mountain. Her leather top had chainmail on the side under her arms and it only reached to just above her slender belly. She wore a long greenish yellow-green long skirt that slit up her left leg that was held up by a brown leather belt that warped around her perfect waist. Her long smooth leg revealed from her skirt bore a strap around her thigh with a sheathed dagger.

She looked like a goddess to Gar. Goblin usually hated the sight of anyone besides orcs and other goblins. She adjusted her bracers that ran up her slender arms. She wore them to keep her bow string from thwacking the skin of her forearm Then adjusted her bow and quiver on her back.

"So little one. What is this far up the mountain that brings you?" She asked, looking down at him. Gar took the stone from his waist and pointed to the castle and then the jewel on the poorly drawn painting. Then said, "Gar was told to get jewel." She went down to one knee with her visible leg out to Gar and said. "And who told Gar to do such a task?" Gar, a little distracted from this woman's smooth skinned leg, says quickly. "King does..."

The woman then inspects Gar closely. "A robber going to a castle to steal a possibly priceless gem. Practically naked and armed with a worn knife and an almost brittle rope with a flimsy hook on it. Going up high where it gets really cold with the clothing you have on?" Gar looked down with an ashamed nod of his head and he was then kind of afraid she might deal with himself like the other goblins moments ago. "King says and Gar go… no questions." He spoke low and ashamed of himself for revealing his plans but at this point he was probably soon dead anyhow. "I find you absolutely adorable!" She says with a giggle. Gar looked at her with confusion. What was with this girl? He then pokes her arm and points to himself. "Gar." He then gestures to her and says. "You?"

She smiles. "I am Kalyssa." She stood back up and looked down at him. "Well it seems we might be heading to the same place. Would you like to tag along with me? Just heading after them is all."

That's when reality hit Gar. He shook his head and showed a bit of fear. "Them there! No!" He felt then he should just run back home to his cave. And just forget this journey ever happened. He pointed to the mountain side that had been where he witnessed goblins and kobolds being slain just moments ago. Kalyssa looked in the direction of the slaughter and frowned. "I'm sorry about your brethren." As Gar waved that away and said "Them bad to Gar!" Then he pointed to where the group had headed up. "Them worse for Gar."

Kalyssa is confused by this and says. "Just afraid of them and not sad about your people." Gar nods. "They make Gar feel bad. Hurt." He picks up a rock and motions it to his head to give her the understanding that they throw rocks at him sometimes. "But why?" She says feeling heartbroken by the horrible things coming from her new green friend. Gar points to his skin. "Gar different, Gar bad. Gar cursed." She looks to him then to the goblin corpses. "You're green and they are red....." She then says in a more cheerful manner. "You know what! Come with me and I will make sure Gar is safe!"

Gar looks up at her surprised from what she had said and from the look in her sapphire blue eyes, Gar was entranced. Without thinking he nodded and said. "Gar be safe with Ka...." he stopped and tried to say her name again. "Kah....." shook his head and was about to try again when she stopped him and said. "Just call me Kah." She giggled. "And yes, you will be safe."

Gar nods and starts to walk up the mountain. Kalyssa quickly walks up and pats her new goblin friend's head lightly. Gar looks to her and watches her pass him with her hips swaying behind her in her outfit. She looked back at him with her chin resting on her shoulder and with a wink said, "Come on now, Love." Gar shakes off the distraction and quickly catches up to his unexpected companion. What was it about Kalyssa that he found weirdly attractive? Goblins have always seen humans and other races of its kind as disgusting beings. Still however he found it comforting to follow her. Like he had done such before with others. What was that memory just there? Gar simply chose to ignore the thought.
