Chapter 47 - Seductive Soup

POV

Soren:

I could have sworn that I saw Nym's silent tears hit the onyx counter. She wiped her eyes and rewashed her pale slender hands. I watched as She pulled ingredients out of the fridge and off of the counter.

There were so many things that I had never seen before, and everything was in a language that I did not understand. Some of these were words like melk, zware room, and kippen bouillon. What the heck is a kippen? I really don't understand anything. Are they just random symbols?

I continued to observe her from the bar. She pulled out a knife and I sucked in my breath, only to realize she was peeling something. She was skinning something that looked like a medium sized brown rock. She elegantly peeled the rock; ribbons of brown cane away revealing a whiteish yellow oblong shape. She saw me looking intently at the rock.

Unknowingly I had raised myself up in the chair by sitting on the chair and propping myself up with my arms. My eyes were lit up like Christmas lights. I heard soft rumbling that echoed in the kitchen. I looked away embarrassed and sat back down on my bottom. She turned around to face me.

"Soren." She paused making sure that she had my attention.

"This is a potato." She then sounded it out phonetically to me and rolled it around in her hand.I watched her lips pronounce each syllable of the word. I did my best to mimic her movements. She smiled at me.

She cut off two small pieces, and popped one into her mouth. She handed the other one to me, her eyes flickered expectantly. I take the semi hard 'potato' and smell it. It didn't have much of a scent. It would be unkind of me to reject generosity, so place it in my mouth.

The texture was very grainy crunchy. I didn't really like it, but I forced myself to keep chewing. 'I cannot reject anything she gives me, even if it's gross' I thought to myself. I watched Nym's expression while I tried to swallow the grainy food that had been turned into mush.

She looked kind of surprised at me for forcing myself to eat it. She reached for a paper towel and handed to me. Once I got the okay I quickly spat out the foul substance. Unrestrained melodic laughter filled the room.

"It only tastes bad in its raw form." Nym chuckled unceremoniously. I looked at her downtrodden. I was slightly upset because she new it was not tasty. I looked at her with frustration sparking in my lilac colored eyes.

"Now contrary to popular belief, potatoes are native to Peru not Ireland. They were brought over from the Spanish and Portugal conquistadors in South America. The reason that they brought them was because they could grow in harsh conditions." She continued talking about the origins of the potatoes. I tried my best to pay attention to her soft rambling.

She finished peeling the potatoes and began to chop them up into medium sized blocks about an inch and a half long. She pulled out a yellow colored ball and began to peel off the layers revealing a white sphere. She rinsed the knife and roughly chop it. The ball made my eyes water really really bad. It also stunk extremely bad.

Every time she pulled out something new she would tell me what it was and where it was from. I learned so many things, but I still didn't quite understand all of it. I tried my best to be patient while she was making dinner.

"Rumble grumble grrrrrgh" my stomach constantly growled as time continued to pass.

"It'll be done soon, okay?" She told me. "If you want you can go and watch the T.V." She paused. "You don't have to watch me if you don't want to.... I know it's kind of boring."

I gave her a slight nod and headed into the living room. I perched down on a black leather couch and pulled a fluffy maroon blanket over my legs. I couldn't stop rubbing and petting the fabric. It was sooo soft; it was unlike anything I had ever felt before. It was so warm; I snuggled myself Into the blanket. My eyelids softly fluttered, and before I knew it I fell asleep.

"ZzzZzzzzZzz" my breaths were slow and warm.

I woke up to find Nym slightly nudging my shoulder with her slender fingers. My breath slightly quickened and I rubbed my eyes. I never noticed that her fingernails were cut very short. I guess she just didn't like to grow out her nails. I took a deep breath and smelled something delicious. The aroma dragged me into the kitchen and I sat back down at the bar.

A medium sized silver and teal bowl was placed in front of me. The bowl was half full with a few brown and orange things in it.( Bacon and Carrots) A silver spoon was placed on a black napkin. It was so shiny that I could see my reflection in it. I became entranced by the food and the shining spoon.

POV

Nym:

I placed my apron back on the peg, and made my way back to the bar. I sat down beside Soren. I watched his expressions with a slight smile on my face. I had never seen someone so ensnared by a spoon. I tapped his shoulder; he looked over at me with a look of surprise that then turned into embarrassment.

I cleared my throat before motioning for him to eat. He placed the spoon in the bowl so gently that it almost seemed like he was afraid that he would break it. It was very.... CUTE! He cautiously brought the soup up to his lips. He paused looking for confirmation. I nodded.

"Blow on it first. It's hot." I told him.

He blew on the soup a few times before placing the spoon in his mouth. Shock lit up his face. His body melted into the chair and his face lit up. He then began to start shoveling the soup into his mouth. I chuckled him softly. How can someone be this adorable?

I then began to eat my soup. The potatoes and cream melted onto my tongue, but this was the first time I had truly enjoyed it. At least, the first time in a long time. Everything after that day lost its taste. It's been so long since I had cooked for someone else.

My heart swelled up in my chest and a gentle flush flitted across my cheek. I was in pure bliss. I took another spoonful of the soup and softly moaned. Goddess this is sooo good. *sighs*

If this soup was a person.... I would never stop eating it.

Before we knew it both of the bowls were empty.

"Soren would you like some more?" He nodded enthusiastically with a bright smile. Okay well that was a definite yes. I picked up both of the bowls and walked over to the stove. I picked up the metal ladle and dipped it into the large pot. I placed the hot soup into the bowls and sat them back down in front of the chairs.

When our bellies were full I placed the bowls and spoons in the sink and washed them. I made my way back over to Soren only to find that he had fallen asleep with his head on the table. I picked up his small frame, he nestled into my embrace. I started to walk up the stairs, and turned off the light for my jellyfish. As soon as I did that beautiful purple and blue bioluminescent lights filled the room. He opened his eyes for a brief moment and placed his doll like hand on the glass.

I continued my way up the stairs and entered my room. I placed him on the full sized bed. His bedding and other things would be coming arriving in a a few days. For now he would sleep in here. I brought the blanket up and tucked him in gently then softly moved the few strands of white hair off of his small face.

He looked so peaceful. He truly does look like an angel, especially since he had beautiful porcelain skin and white hair. Unfortunately, this angel has forever been tainted by the scum of the world. My fist became clenched while I walked to the bathroom to brush my teeth. When I finally returned I sat at my desk and turned on a soft amber light. I began to start my paperwork. Pen scratches on paper were accompanied by soft snoring from the bed.
