Chapter 48 - Self Motivation

POV

Charlotte:

The heavy aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled my senses.

"A cappuccino and banana muffin for Charlotte." A barista baritone voice called out. I walked up to the counter to grab my order. The man nodded at me kindly.

His silky nutmeg colored hair was spilling out of his black beanie. He had a silver cuffed earring that had a chain that connected down to another ear piercing. He was kinda of cute in a way. He reminded me of a ferret with a hat. My faced softly flushed into a pink at this thought.

I quickly went back to a small corner table. I sat down in the plush wooden chairs. However, I was not aware that he kept throwing curious glances at me. I pulled out my laptop and sat it down on the table. My clock on the computer showed that it was 2:34 in the afternoon at the cafe.

I stretched out my body, popped my neck and fingers. I let out an audible sigh before typing in my password. I plugged in my teal headphones and pressed play. Type O Negative's "Christian Woman" began to fill my ears.

My fingers danced across the keyboard as I began to create a job application. The questions varied. Some where about past job, while others asked about work ethic and people skills.

'Work experience and why I left my previous job?' Hmmmmmm

I bit my bottom lip in contemplation. I worked in as a florist and as pastry chief back in the Alps. I guess I left because.... I wanted to create my own place in the world? I wanted to have my own freedom and discover who I really am. I didn't want to be held back the the what if's back then. So I guess I left because I wanted to discover myself?

Yeah! That's why I came here! I cannot forever that I am doing this for myself, not others. I'll grow to be as strong and tall as an oak tree. I won't bend in my morals; I will stay true to myself! I smiled largely. And what I want to do.... is to talk with Nym. I smiled radiantly in my corner. I fished my cellphone out from my pocket. It showed that it was now 5:57 in white block numbers. I immediately went over to my messages and tapped on Nym's name.

'Hey, I it's been' No that's not rights I immediately deleted the sentence and tried again. This happened five more times before I came up with a message I was more confident in.

'Hey Nym! It's been a little while since we last talked. I hope that you are doing well. I really hope that your business trip was successful, and I know it's probably difficult because you work for one of the top companies here in Denmark. I am sure that it's really stressful, but I am positive that you did great (⌒▽⌒)

If possible when you're not too busy could we hang out again? Of course, that is as long as you don't mind. I really had a lot of fun last time.(๑>◡<๑)'

-Charlotte

My stomach felt like it was being tied up in knots. My heart felt like it was being squeezed and my breath quickened. Now we wait. I felt so anxious. I kept check my phone to see if she had responded or read it yet. I finally just laid my head on the table. Unknowingly, I had dozed off.

"Miss? Miss?" I felt a slightly calloused hand nudge my shoulder. My eyelids slowly fluttered open taking in the sight in front of me. The same barista from earlier was the one who disturbed my slumber. His face was close to mine, and we were in an ambiguous position. Noticing that I had woken up, he moved back to an upright position. His silver chain earring swayed as he stood up.

"We are closing here in five minutes Miss." he said with a soft smile on his face. I rubbed my eyes and brushed the hair out of my face.

"I am so sorry. I don't know what came over me." I said with a raspy voice. The tips of his ears turned red. He really is kind of cute. Huh.

"Please wait just a moment." He said and then ran off. I began to put away my things. My laptop was tucked into my bag and my headphones were tucked back into its pouch.

After a few minutes he returned with his hair askew. He held a white cup with a brown lid in his hands.

"Here. Please take this cappuccino; it would be bad if you fell asleep while driving. Annnnddd I'd feel particularly responsible. It would also be awful since you're so pretty." He stammered with embarrassment at the last part.

I chuckled at him and a warm smile blossomed on my face. He then handed me a napkin. There were neatly scrawled numbers written in purple. There was also a name; it said Dakota.

"Do you mind if I walk you out?"

I nodded to signify that he could he quickly smiled and walked me out to my car. He opened the car door for me and we said our goodbyes.

*In the cafe*

Dakota re-enters the cafe. A soft bell jingles. He walks over to his female coworkers Crisy.

"You are totally crushing on a customer!" She squeals with excitement.

"I guess I am." He smiles while looking a bit shy.

"Well I'm going to sweep and then we can both leave for the nights." She says.

"Alrighty, sounds great!" Dakota response.

He turns around.

"I guess I do like her." He thinks. No one noticed that his once embarrassed face had turned stoic and his eyes crazed.
