Chapter 41 - Lilith

POV

Soren:

I awoke to feel my body shift towards the ground. Music continuously played into my ears. The constant thudding of the keys on the piano soothed my mind. my eyelids fluttered open to find myself caught in Nym's embrace; I was tucked into her chest.

I could feel her slow heartbeat with my cheek. Is this a motherly embrace? Is this how the other children felt when they were embraced by their mothers? Now I could see why they would calm down and why they would look happy. I hope that this feeling will not be leaving for a very long time.

I could feel a gaze lingering on me. I looked up to find her friend staring back at me. I flashed him my canines with a snarl. He chuckled at my antics. Nym moved slightly and one of the headphones dropped from my ear. She began to stir from her slumber. I looked up at her only to quickly snuggle back into her embrace.

I peaked out from her chest to find her looking down at me with a soft smile. Unknowingly, my face flushed a bright red when I saw her face. She looked like am angel with a soft glow around her from the lights. Her face looked softened from just waking up, it looked better than when her face had a permanent scowl around the others. She always looked at me with genuine kindness in her eyes.

"Shit! Are you running a fever? Your face is bright red." she reached brought her forehead close to mine. I quickly closed my eyes and my breath grew ragged. "You feel slightly warm, but not warm enough to be a fever." she said murmured quietly. I covered my face with my small hands. I could feel a soft vibration on my head. I peeked out and saw her trying to restrain her laughter. She saw that I had peeked out and quickly furrowed her brows and looked away.

"We will be landing in Haderslev here in fifteen minutes Nym." Gary's voice came over the sound system. Nym flashed a thumbs up . Gary skillfully landed the craft atop a large black building. Nym once again helped me out of the craft.

We began to walk away; Gary threw the bag at Nym. She caught it without looking back with her left hand. I was surprised. I didn't expect him to throw it, or for her to catch it.

"I'll see you next time Nym!" He shouted towards us.

"Thank you Gary. I make some cookies for you next time." She said.

"I'll hold you to it my lady. " He responded with a smile.

Nym slung the bag over her left shoulder, but she still didn't let go of my hand. We made our way to a door on the roof of the building. She opened the door to reveal a set of black marble stairs. The walls were a black marble as well, but it had streaks of gold with a few accents of red. On further inspection it was actually a picture. It was a tall woman holding a golden sword doused with crimson from the dead that was littered on the ground. Her hand was holding the pommel of the sword and the blade was stabbed into a skull. A crown of roses encircled her brow. On her other arm was a perched raven.

Nym noticed me staring at the mural and grinned, but that smile also held a tinge of sadness.

"That is Lilith, she was the first women ever created by a God and goddess. Her hair black and when the light hit it just right it looked red. Her beauty was unrivaled by everything in the land. Her legs were slender and long like that of a gazelle. With her beauty came a stubbornness, and this too was unmatched.

She was to service her husband in any way he requested. She however, refused to submit to her husband. This angered the god who thought of women as only pretty tools used to seduce and reproduce." Nym's gaze darkened and her brow became furrowed. She continued the story.

"One of the gods became so furious that he sent forth a battalion of angels to destroy her. The other Goddess understood her plight, so she gave Lilith a sword made of the bones of a Sluagh and the scales of her two-headed amphithere dragon mount. One maw breathed Ice and the other breathed aether, so the sword gained control over both of those elements as well as the demonic properties of the Sluagh. She also knew that Lilith had to be intelligent so that she could win the battle. The only way she could think to do so was to kiss Lilith's brow to give her knowledge. After all, what is beauty and brawn when you don't have the intelligence to act upon it."

"Lilith later fought the battalion of angels and decimated them all. Crimson blood filled the rivers. Lilith who was battered and bloody began to fall in the blood. She was so very tired. The Goddess thanked her and plucked the wings off of the dead angels.

She delicately placed the scarlet dyed feathers together and made a new pair of wings. She bound them together using the deceased Fae's spirits and placed them upon Lilith's back. Her back burned with immense pain and the wings that were soaked in the blood of the fallen became so thick that they almost looked black.

The Goddess wept tears of immense anguish as many of her children, the fae folk, were killed in this battle. The Goddess enraged by her fellow god decided to take revenge for her children, and she too would never submit to a male ever again. She had decided to rule the the night to forcefully make him submit to her, and had Lilith become her general in the war. She also told Lilith that she was not to bed anyone or she would fall from her grace and lose all of her abilities. Both she and the Goddess took a vow of abstinence for eternity. This way they would never feel the repulsive touch of a man, and be forced to lay beneath them."

"This is a way for us to remember that we will always fight for what we believe is right. We also named the company after her." She smiled warmly at the mural.

"If you want I can tell you more about her adventures later." I reached my hand out to feel the cold stone. I was ensnared by her story so much that I couldn't tear my eyes away from the stone. The stone was cold and smooth. I could almost feel my heartbeat resonate through it. I saw Nym place her hand on the stone as well. She closed her eyes and then told me it was about time to go.
