After being away from school for a good bit, I thought it best to catch up on the clubs I was a part of.
"So what are we doing now?" asked Lee from behind me.
I sighed at him in annoyance "The International society for Acclimating Refugees club." I told him.
Lee looked at me with a confused face.
"In case you forgot, we kind of are at war with Vietnam. Think of the club like a society that just tries to make the transition either. Not everyone is accepting but that's why these clubs are important." I told him as I walked down the hall.
"You really are obsessed with war aren't you?" asked Lee.
"What is that supposes to mean?" I asked.
"You have a gun under your pillow. You want to join active duty military. You are part of a society that helps refugees. Did I leave anything out?" asked Lee after ticking off his fingers leaving it on 3.
"I'm the only female at the local gun society. I was practically raised there by my father. I'm also a martial artist. I'm not a true black belt yet but I'm close." I told him as we walked up to the class door with the marker 719.
"Impressive. Good luck getting laid. I doubt anyone will. You are terrifying." said Lee.
"Romance isn't everything. If someone manages to not annoy me enough to take romantic interest, that will be a miracle." I said stepping in the classroom.
Lee cocked his head to the side. "You really are strange." Of course he said it out loud in front of the club.
Everyone in the room glanced between me and him.
"You imply strange as if it is a bad thing." I said and some of the English speakers chuckled.
"Stacie!!!" Vy ran up to me and gave me a big hug.
I hugged her back. "Yeah yeah I missed you too."
"How are you?" she asked with a sweet smile on her face and a thick Vietnamese accent.
"I'm better. I thought I'd come to the daily meeting today now that I'm back." I responded.
"Oh! That really good! If you hungry I made banh mi for everyone! I know how much you love them." she said.
I immediately started salivating and spotted the platter on the back table.
"You're an angel." I walked to the back of the room and grabbed a sandwich and tore into it. Delicious as always. I will never understand people that don't like cilantro. Ever since I first tried it, I wanted to bathe in it.
"Banh MI?" asked Lee as he walked up to the tray and eyed the sandwich in my hand.
"It's a sandwich." I said rolling my eyes. If a demon doesn't know what this is I'm going to shove it down his face.
"I know what it is. I'm just surprised to see you like something other than war." he responded.
I glared at him. "I'm full of surprises. Now are you going to eat a banh mi or do I get to have 2?"
"Help yourself." he asked and walked up to the front of the class where everyone was talking and proceeded to easily slide into everyone's good side. I guess being a demon makes you a people person.
Can't relate.
