Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

I walked out into the roped-off ring, I looked up and saw the many faces of people screaming and cheering.

Most of the crowd were men, drunk. Some were here to get money while others were just looking to have a good show.

Cigarette smoke hung in the air, and you could smell nothing but alcohol.

I walked out into the middle of the floor while they played a loud metal song by Atreyu. The announcer shouted over the cheers and music.

"look at the young shadow, she will get crushed I'm sure by The King, And look from the south entrance, here he comes himself, The King!"

I looked off towards the other entrance, and what I saw almost made me laugh.

A big burly guy, about 6 foot 2, with blond hair that was cropped, stepped out into the ring. He stood with intimidation. He had his face puffed up into an angry expression. And he raised his fists towards me and snarled.

I started to laugh. "And she laughs?" said the announcer with disbelief "She actually laughs, well hate to break it to you honey but by the end of this you will be cryin',"

I just laughed more at the announcer's comment. Then a minute later, a bell was sounded for the fight to begin. I took a defensive stance but didn't move in.

The first rule of a fight: never make the first move, always stay back and analyse the opponent's tactics of fighting.

The king ran at me, he was slow, even for a human. I dodged him and jumped to the side, so he was a charger.

Chargers, as I liked to call them, always liked to move into a fight to quickly. They waste their energy by not thinking out their plans of attack and just go on impulse.

The king came at me again, this time I went down, slid to the right and kicked out my leg, knocking the king to the floor.

Then I jumped on top of him, but I wasn't about to end it just yet, so instead, I decided I teach him a lesson.

I turned him over and punched him in the face, not too hard, though. His head flopped to the side.

Then I bent down to whisper in his ear, well yell over the music. "I'll give you a little advice, don't waste your time with charging your opponent, because that never works," my voice was low but with a little amusement in it.

Then I stood and stepped back, waiting. It took him some time to get up, but when he did it looked like he had taken my advice. Because he didn't charge me.

But instead he started to close in slowly, we circled each other.

He came close and swung a large arm towards my face, I dodged it. He aimed another punch.

This time I caught his fist and aimed a right hook. My punch hit him square in the jaw. The crowd cheered loudly.

I aimed a kick to his shin. He grunted and stepped back, holding his shin and jaw.

I laughed and closed in once more. He stood straight and aimed a kick at me, but I grabbed his leg and pulled.

His back hit the cement. I was growing bored of this, I was feeling kinda silly now.

So as The King got up, I aimed a strong punch to his face.

It hit him in the mouth. He jumped back holding his face. His lip was busted.

He grew angry and ran for me. I laughed, now it ends.

The energy flowed into me strong and as he closed in I aimed a full force punch. The king flew back and hit the opposite wall.

The crowd instantly silenced. The king slumped down the wall and didn't move. Then the crowd broke into a loud rumble of applause.

I raised my arms above me and smirked my victory. A man came out into the ring and handed me a slip of paper

"Give this to the table in the back room, that's where you will get your award money,"

I looked over to where The king now lay. There were paramedics standing over him. He looked unconscious.

"I don't believe it, a little girl beat the undefeated King," yelled the announcer into the speakers.

I smirked and walked back to the door I came out of and walked in. My brothers were waiting for me.

"So did you win?" smiled Daniel

"Duh, a piece of cake. He was a total Charger, gave him some advice" I laughed, my brothers, smirked knowingly.

"Full of yourself much? And you took your sweet time out there," said Vince

"Well I wanted to show him his time on the throne wasn't lasting."

Vince smirked. "Always like to torture them," I smirked and walked over to the table and handed the man that looked bored the slip.

He looked down at it and his mouth fell open.

"You won?" he asked astonished.

"Yeah, can I have my award please?" I asked politely. Trying not to laugh.

He stuttered something out that sounded something like " oh yeah," and rustled around with a black box on the table and pulled out a couple hundred.

"Thanks, " I said as I took the money and counted out the six hundred. Wait for six hundred, I thought they only were paying four.

I walked back to the table, "um excuse me, but I thought it was four hundred a fight?" I asked the guy who had given me the money.

"Well, your slip here says six hundred. It looks like you had beat an undefeated fighter. So I think that you get more for that. And also the judges at the front determine how much you get paid for your fighting," he said

"oh okay thanks," I smiled and walked over to my brothers.

"what's wrong?" asked Daniel

"The judges gave me more for my fighting and for beating an undefeated fighter, So I got two hundred more."

"Awesome," said Vince. "Man I wish I got that much, my dude was huge," said Daniel a little annoyed.

"I think it's because you ended it so quickly," I said.

He just grumbled. I laughed and clapped his shoulder.

"Number four, the Bloodsucker. You're next," said the guy at the table.

"see you," said Vince

And Vince laughed and walked over to the door.

..............

A couple minutes later he came back, smiling and laughing. He went to the table and collected his money.

We all left laughing. we never watched the other fights.

So tonight we had collected enough money to last us a good few weeks till we needed to fight again.

We drove back to the new house as the sun started to rise.

As we walked into the house, trying to be quiet, mum came down the stairs.

"Where have you three been? You all know you have school in about two hours, right?"

"What?" I said out loud.

"You didn't think you would have school? Well you do I enrolled you all before we moved, and you have about an hour and a half to get ready and I suggest a shower for all three of you," she said sternly

"Lovely, " I said and walked up the stairs. Daniel and Vince behind me.

"Emery why is there a one hundred dollar bill sticking out of your jean pocket?" asked my mother

I turned to look and sure enough, a bill was hanging out, I slipped it back in, "umm it's from my savings"

"oh well careful, don't lose it," she said looking at me, still a little suspicious.

I continued on to my room

Great, just great. I hate school I thought to myself bitterly as I went to take a shower.

I always hated school, even as a little kid, I just didn't feel right there.

I finished my shower and then went to pick out my clothes.

I settled on a pair of black skinny jeans and a Breaking Benjamin band t-shirt. I pulled out a pair of rainbow coloured converse. They were my favourite. They made me stand out and they showed my lesbian pride, I also put on a bunch of different coloured rubber bracelets on each arm and a gay pride rhinestone studded wristband, and my favourite nightmare before Christmas necklace on.

I put on my usual black eyeliner and mascara, And some chapstick.

"Emery, time to go. I'm dropping you and your brothers off by the way I left your school stuff on your bed," yelled my mum up the stairs.

I sighed and grabbed my black with graffiti hoodie and my iPod, then I picked out my Korn messenger bag and slipped the stuff from the bed in it. I then walked downstairs, yawning.

I was going to be tired today.

"Okay let's go," said my mother, as I got downstairs, my brothers looking just how I felt. Angry and tired.

We walked outside and got into the truck, my mother driving off.

"Oh come on perk up, you can meet new people." said my mother in her all to cheery voice.

'no thanks.' I thought to myself

I slipped in my earphones and blared music.

And soon we were pulling up into a two-story large school. There were cars and buses all around, kids walking around the parking lot and in front of the school on the pavement.

The school was a large brick building, doors to the right were allowing students into what looked like the halls. And then there was the front door where there were letters printed into the bricks.

They read,

Welcome to Bismarck high school

Home of the Panthers.

Then on the pavement leading to the front doors where teal paw prints.

I groaned and lowered the volume of my earphones.

"ok you three, just go to the front office and tell them your names. And they will give you your schedules. Have a good day. I love you." we all groaned and got out.

I stood there just staring, my brothers beside me.

We all three groaned again as a bell rang out. And then walked to the front doors, me lagging behind.

And as I walked something slammed against me.
