Emery's P.O.V.
"so how was your first day?" mother piped up as I shovelled food into my mouth. My eyes flicked to hers immediately to show my displeasure at discussing such a painful subject while trying to enjoy fried chicken.
She gave me a look, then turned to my brothers across the table. "boys?"
Vince shrugged. "Met some cool people. The gym teacher thinks I should join the football team." his eyes flickered down with a hesitant look on his face.
Mother looked at him for a moment. She began to eat some more, scrunching her nose, finding the human food distasteful. "well that's good, I don't know if that is....safe though."
Vince dropped his fork. "But mom, I have very good control. Just because I tried to kill Em last summer doesn't mean I haven't gotten stronger. I can control myself now. Can I please at least try it?" he begged.
I laughed at the memory. Vince hadn't fed in a full two months, he was trying to prove he could go longer than me and Daniel. He ended up looking at me like I was a piece of meat and tried to shove me in the oven. well not literally, he tried to sink his fangs into me.
Mom found out about it and almost tried to eat him herself. Daniel and I, of course, taunted him for weeks afterwards. And I made sure I got my payback in a fight.
Vince was always trying to prove himself. I guess being the middle child was rough.
Mom studied him for a few moments then sighed. "Ok, but one slip up and you will be off the team faster then you can say sorry." she gave him a warning look. He nodded then grinned.
Daniel shook his head and then looked to mother. "Well can I join soccer then?"
Mother sighed. "I guess so. But I mean it, both of you. If you even look at a kid the wrong way I will have both of you off the teams and will be out of that school altogether." she then turned to me. "and let me guess you want to be on a team as well?"
I looked at her as if she insulted me. "uh, of course not mother. I don't do sports."
"oh well then.....that changes things. Well, have you met any new friends?"
Vince cracked up in a second. "please. Emery doesn't do friends either."
I looked over at him and threw my fork at his head. He dodged it and laughed.
Daniel smacked him for me. Vince looked at him offended.
"Actually, Emery has made five new friends. They even asked her to be in a band with them." Daniel smiled at me. I smiled back my gratefulness, we had always been a little closer.
Mom looked over at me and smiled. "that's good Emery. See I knew you would like it here."
I smiled. I did like it here.
After dinner, I went to my room and took a quick shower. But I wasn't quite ready to sleep. I opened my curtains to look at the waxing moon. The sky was still light. But the moon was shining beautifully.
I stared at it for a little while, captivated by its beauty.
I was always one to get stuck at looking at the moon. I don't know why but I always felt a pull towards the moon.
Daniel had once said I was a moon child or something. Born on a full moon. He was such a mythology nerd.
After a few moments, I finally tore myself away from the moon and went to my desk and opened the laptop. I went to the internet and checked my email. Knowing already it was just some junk mail. I didn't have friends. So I wouldn't have any letters.
But as I looked I saw a no subject email from some strange address.
I furrowed my brow and opened the message. It read,
Dear Emery,
I wanted to say I am sorry for ignoring you today in Musical Arts. My home life is a touchy subject. Maybe we can get together sometime, say tomorrow for lunch?
Your friend, Trinetta.
I stared blankly at the letter. How in the world did she get my email address?
I sat there just staring. What kind of monster was this girl? And what did she want with me?
A thought came to my head, maybe.....she's .....a
Wait for no. there's no way. Shes too fragile looking.
But then again. Full blood is very good at masking themselves. Maybe I should check up on her?
Ugh, and I knew the way. It's time to pull out my nice twin. And I really hated her.
I looked at the time. Only six thirty. I hit the reply button and began to type out a message.
