Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

Emery's P.O.V.

The next morning I fell out of bed at the loud buzzing of my alarm. I groaned and got up slowly, grabbing the alarm and smashing the button down.

'too early to be awake' I thought bitterly to myself. I went into my bathroom and began to brush my teeth, looking up in the mirror at my rat's nest of a hair. A minute later Vince came into my bathroom and picked up my hairbrush.

I turned to look at him as he began to walk out. "Umm excuse me?"

He turned and looked at me, his bronze hair was sticking up in funny directions.

"Where do you think you're going with that?" I asked him, my mouth filled with toothpaste.

He shrugged. "Can't find mine so I'm stealing yours," he said then walked away. I hurriedly spit out my toothpaste and went after him. But as I got out in the hallway, I found his door shut and locked.

"ugh!" I groaned and began beating on the door. But softly enough so I didn't wake my mother. "Vince! Give it back!"

I heard him chuckling on the other side, I growled back at him.

Daniel walked out of his room a moment later and was yawning loudly.

"What's wrong with you?" he asked, stretching.

I groaned again and walked into my room, Daniel coming behind me.

"Vince! What else. He just walks into my bathroom and steals my hairbrush. Like he owns it!" I groaned again.

Daniel laughed lightly and flopped onto my bed.

"well at least he didn't keep you up all night playing Halo. I didn't go to sleep till like twenty minutes to my alarm. That's like a good twenty-five hours I've missed in two days." he yawned again.

I looked through my closet and found a pair of acid wash baggy jeans and a black and red shirt with the band, Bullet For My Valentine, on it.

I turned to see that Daniel had fallen asleep again. So I walked over to him and jumped on top of him.

His eyes flew open and he jumped up reflexively. I fell off of him and to the floor. "time to wake up idiot." I laughed.

He yawned and kicked me lightly before walking out of my room. I laughed and stood up ready for a very long day. Just like every day, it's just how school was to me.

All three of us rushed out the door to our cars, excited to show them off, and more importantly, to drive the way we please.

My beautiful car was parked in front of Daniels in the two-door garage driveway, and Vince's was behind mom's truck. So I waited very impatiently for Daniel to back out, then back out after him.

As I followed Daniels black Jeep, I hooked my iPod to the stereo system and turned up the volume to full blast. The song "Becoming the bull" by Atreyu, blearing in my ears.

I smiled and sung along to the lyrics. I looked in my review mirror to see Vince smile and shake his head at my careless attitude.

I just smirked and sped up on the tail of Daniel's jeep, he looked at me in his review mirror and smirked. He nodded, and I smiled.

Daniel's jeep lurched forward as we entered the main highway, I hit the accelerator and turned to go in the lane beside Daniel. Daniel looked out his passenger window and smirked at me.

This was what we had always wanted to do when we got our cars of our own. Have a race!

I turned up the music more and hit my accelerator, pushing my car to one hundred miles an hour.

Let me just break it down to you, I WON!!! I got to the schools parking lot in under five minutes. I left my brothers in the dust. Ha!

Yeah, that's just me, I have competitive issues. I pulled into a free parking space close to the school just as my brothers pulled into the parking lot and found a place to park.

I got out of my car, pulling my bag and guitar case along with me. I hit the lock button on my key and walked to where my brothers were heading up the parking lot.

I smirked as they came near, their faces held anger. I laughed as I fell into step beside them.

"Emery, just shut up, I don't want to hear how you always beat us at everything. We know!" said a pissed off Vince.

I just smirked and left the sour losers behind. I walked up to the side doors. As I stepped in, a small and warm hand went into mine. I didn't need to hear her voice to know who It was. I could smell her blood and perfume.

"good morning!" Trinetta chimed in. see now if anyone from the outside was watching us they would be like, what the hell, just yesterday they barely talked, now they are acting like longtime friends.

Well, it wasn't like that. See after I got her message last night, I sent her a message back telling her that I would love to have lunch with her. And maybe we could hang out together.

But It looked like she had taken that as an invitation to hang upon my arm. I looked at her hands holding mine and immediately felt the warm tingly sensation running up my arm and into my whole body. My eyes went to hers and I stopped walking.

It was just like yesterday when our eyes connected, I felt that tingly feeling rising. And I began feeling of no control coming over me.

I forced my eyes shut and put a few inches between me and her, but she kept her hands on my arm. She shook her head slightly and began to speak as we headed down the hall to our lockers.

"so I was thinking for lunch we could go outside to the schools garden? What do you think?" she asked in her pretty voice.

I looked at her again but careful to avoid full eye contact "well I was supposed to meet some other friends, but if you want you can come to sit with us?"

I remembered Blaze telling me to sit with them during lunch now. And I didn't want to disappoint them.

Wow, I care for people and their feelings. I mean don't get me wrong I'm not cold-hearted, I care, its just I never associated myself with humans enough to care. This was actually the first time out of all my schools, that I talked to people more than one day. I would usually forget who they were, and they would forget me too.

"oh ok, I'd love to. You will have to show me where you guys sit" she said as we walked into English.

I nodded, then looked back at her strangely. "The school has a garden?"

She smiled and laughed. "yeah, it's in the back by all the fields."

Wow, talk about a prep school wanna-be!

I laughed as I walked to the back row and took my seat I was in yesterday before I got kicked out. I wondered what Baldy would do to me today as his own form of punishment?

Trinetta, instead of sitting in the front, she came to sit in the seat beside me. She smiled at me as she took out her binder. I just watched her.

Her long bronze hair had this mixture of deep brown. It was an interesting shade of brunette. It also had a few slight shades of red in it. It fell softly over her shoulders and framed her pretty heart-shaped face. Her lips were such a delectable shade of pink and her eyelashes were full and fanned over her greenish-brownish eyes.

The bell rang out overhead, pulling me back to the classroom. The teacher walked into the room, shutting the door with a snap. All the laughter and chatter stopped immediately.

Baldy looked around the classroom like a hawk eyeing his prey. His eyes landed on me and his nose scrunched up as if he smelled something foul.

I just smirked.

A gruesome hour later, I walked into trigonometry and went to the very back where Blaze sat in his seat. He smiled as I sat beside him. He sat up and leaned over to my desk.

"so last night I was texting Knox and she wouldn't stop talking about you. I think she has a small crush on you," he smirked.

I looked at him and laughed. "you know lying about yourself is one thing but lying about someone else is just plain wrong"

Blaze laughed but then became serious. "no I think she is into you knight."

I smiled at the nickname Knox had given me, it was awesome. Then I looked back up at Blaze, I didn't know what to say.

"seriously, I mean I think you two would look good together. I mean both of you are hot so that works" he blushed lightly and looked away.

I smirked and turned to look at his embarrassed state. "Awww thanks, Blaze. You know you're hot, I don't have to tell you that."

Blaze looked up at me and beamed. "you think so?"

I nodded "I may like girls but that doesn't mean I can't say a guy looks hot."

Blaze smirked. "so what do you think about Knox?"

I shrugged, I mean yeah, Knox was beautiful, no doubt about that, and she was totally my type. But she was human, and I'm way too dangerous to be her girlfriend.

Blaze was still waiting for me to speak. I sighed. "I like her, but I just don't think I'm the kind of girl for her."

Blaze just stared at me but just as he opened his mouth to protest, the bell rang and the teacher walked in. rendering him silent.

After government Blaze, Mark and I walked into the cafeteria. We were laughing about the teachers tighty whiteys showing during class as we approached our table. Only to find Knox yelling at a very timid and angered looking Trinetta.

"why the hell are you over here anyway? And no lying, I already know all your lies Trinetta, and don't think I cant scope them out!" yelled Knox, getting up in Trinetta's face. Trinetta being taller, you would think Knox would be slightly scared, but she wasn't, she stood with her arms crossed and a look of determination across her prominent features.

And I and my guyish thoughts were slightly sidetracked to how sexy they both looked. Trinetta's eyes squinted slightly as she stared down Knox, and Knox's eyes flaring as she waited for Trinetta's response.

"well? What the hell are you over here for?" yelled Knox, the others standing behind her with dumbfounded expressions. People close by were staring.

Trinetta looked over to me. "Emery invited me."

She had to say it.

Knox looked over at me, incredulously. "Knight? You brought this little snob to our table?"

I smiled slightly and shrugged. "she wants to be friends, and she is my mentor"

Trinetta smiled smugly and sat back down.

Knox growled and went for Trinetta. I caught on quickly to what she was going to do and dropped my bag and ran at top speed to grab Knox's arms from behind.

I held her hands in my iron grip as she wiggled to get at a scared looking Trinetta.

"let me go, Emery!" yelled Knox, still fighting as a few girls ran to Trinetta and pulled her away. Trinetta looked back at me sadly. I just flashed her an apologetic look.

I let go of Knox who began to run after Trinetta once more. But I grabbed her again, this time I hoisted her small figure over my shoulder and walked from the cafeteria. I had to calm her down.

"Emery put me down, now!" she yelled.

"No I don't think I will," I said in a low, smooth voice. I walked through the back door and out to many paths that led to the football stadium, the practice fields, the tennis and baseball cages. Heading for the path to the school's garden.

I took the one to the garden. It was nice, flowers were everywhere. I walked as far back as the school perimeter fences allowed me to. The whole way I ignored Knox's constant attempts to get out of my grip.

"how are you even able to hold me up so easily?" she asked after she gave up her struggle.

I laughed lightly. "I'm very strong."

Knox was quiet. "I see. Why did you invite her to our table anyway? She is nothing but an annoying backstabbing slut. She doesn't belong at our table."

I listening to Knox's ranting, and it seemed that she really disliked Trinetta. And I was going to find out why.

As we reached the perimeter fence, I stopped at an empty but small clearing. It was pretty and it had some fresh flowers growing here. It was a calm place.

"ok, I'm going to put you down, and I will answer your questions. But if you run from me, I'm pretty fast and I'm sure I can catch you." I said sternly.

Knox sighed. "fine."

I slowly put Knox down, once she was out of my grip, she smacked me on the arm and glared at me.

"that's not very nice," I said, the hit not affecting me.

"you didn't have to do that, pick me up and drag me out here. And you didn't have to bring that bitch to the table either, which the reason you still haven't told me yet." she barked at me.

I laughed and sat down against a tree. I patted the spot next to me and waited for her to sit down. She put her hands on her hips and stared at me.

I laughed. "come on, I won't bite!"

After a minute of contemplation, she sat.

I looked over to her. "I invited her because I was trying to be kind. Something I don't do a lot. But she seems to be having a bad home life, so I thought I'd make school life a little better for her." I shrugged.

Knox looked at me for a moment then spoke. "well that's nice and all, but really knight, you should tell us about something like that before you do it ok."

I nodded then looked back up at her. "now, it's my turn for a question, why is it you dislike her so much?"

Knox looked down. Her cheeks burned red and she didn't speak.

I leaned over and placed my forefinger under her chin and brought her face up to look at mine.

"if you don't want to tell me, its ok. I just thought it would be good to know why so I don't bring her around again to cause trouble." I said, looking Knox in her beautiful eyes.

She sighed and began to speak, "it was freshman year. I just moved here and I didn't know anyone. It was my first day and Trinetta was my mentor. She showed me kindness and showed me around the school. She was nice and let me hang out with her. We became best friends. I fell under her spell."

I watched Knox's eyes slip behind memory. Tears came down her cheeks silently as she spoke once more. "we were friends for almost the whole year. We told each other everything, there were no secrets. Except for the one I was most afraid to share. It ate me up inside. She was my best friend and I couldn't even tell her I was in love with her."

I gasped as she said these words. She continued. "It was our annual weekend sleepover, and I decided I was going to tell her then. So when the night came, I was entirely nervous. I had it all planned out. I was going to just tell her and explain that she didn't have to feel the same way and that I hoped it didn't affect our friendship, that I just needed to tell her."

Knox was silent, the tears welled up more and she leaned against me and held onto my shirt. I put my arm around her. Sobs began to escape her lips as I tried to wipe the tears from her eyes.

"shh its ok, you don't have to go on." I hugged her to me and she pulled herself into my lap. My arms went around her small waist

But Knox spoke again. "I told her. She promised it didn't affect us. That she was always my best friend no matter what. But the next day, over the school's announcements that bitch, Danielle White, told the whole school how I got rejected by Trinetta. After that, I was taunted for the rest of the year. And she just stood there and didn't say anything. I never talked to her again."

Knox cried harder as I hugged her trembling body tightly, rubbing soothing circles on her back. It made me angry just thinking of how someone could be so horrible to a girl like Knox. Why would Trinetta do such a thing to someone she called her friend?

My fangs slid from my gums and Knox's blood was intoxicating. I was glad her face was buried in my shoulder, otherwise, she would have seen that my whole aura had begun to glow a dark purple. Something that happened only when I was really angry. I did my best to force my instincts down. My fangs slowly went back into my gums and my anger subsided slightly.

"I just can't believe she did that to me. After she said she was my friend. I was an outcast from then on. But then in sophomore year, I met Blaze and soon after the others came to the school. But I still feel like I'm an outcast. I mean I look at Dev and Lyric and they are so happy together, and Blaze and his girlfriend are an ocean apart and they are going strong. I just wish I could have someone like that. But I'm never going to, I'm too weird and known as the girl who went after the straight girl."

Knox sobbed harder, but I pulled her at arm's length and brought her face to look at mine. "listen, listen to me! that's not true. Anyone would be lucky to have you, Knox. Your beautiful and smart, your funny and blunt. I would count myself lucky to have someone like you." I said looking her in the eyes.

Knox stopped crying and looked at me. Her eyes shined for a moment then she smiled. "you mean it?"

I nodded. Rubbing the makeup and tears on her cheeks. But she placed her hands on mine and came close to me.

My breath hitched as Knox's lips made contact with mine. At first, her lips were soft and begging for a response from mine. I was slightly shocked, but then kissed back softly.

But it was my own reaction that came next that scared the hell out of me!
