Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: A Day With Mark

Mark walked into the meeting room, which has several chairs around an oval table. On both ends of the table are chairs as well as on both sides.

Mark walked to one of the side chairs and sat down. 'Let's see... I've got five minutes before my meeting... I'm sure this will be fun, after all, making a good deal is a great stress reliever.' Mark thought to himself.

He waited for a few more minutes, then, exactly five minutes from when he sat, a few people walked into the room.

The man in the front is wearing a black suit with a light blue dress shirt and a gray and black striped tie. The men next to him are both wearing light gray suits with red dress shirts and light blue ties.

"Ah, Himura-shi, welcome!" Mark said as he stood up and shook his hand. Both Mark and Tsugomoni bowed a bit.

"It's nice to meet you, Williams-shi." (Looks so weird with an honorific...) The man said.

"Likewise." Mark said lightly as they both went to seats on opposite sides of the table. The man has the two people standing behind him. "Continuing our email conversation, you said that your business is running out of funds and you wish to sell part of the company to Izumi-Inc, right?" Mark asked. Himura nodded, then slid a paper across the table.

Mark picked up the paper, then read its contents. Then shook his head. "I'm afraid this won't do." Mark said as a business smile appeared on his face. "We will be requesting 78% of your company, in return, we will be investing one billion yen into your corporation." Mark said, keeping his poker face.

"That's quite the outrageous number you have there! Do you expect us to roll over and accept any deal you offer!?" Himura asked with clear anger in his expression and voice, though his voice did not become any louder.

"Do you expect us to give a hundred million for just 5%?" Mark asked in response with a calm and soothing voice. Himura's expression calmed.

"I see, so you were giving us an outrageous number because of what we gave you?' Himura asked. Mark shook his head.

"No, we still want the aforementioned number, though there may be some wiggle room here and there." Mark said.

"We request that the number is dropped to twenty percent, and the funds are equivalent to two hundred million." Himura said as he put up two fingers. Mark sighed.

"76% while retaining the aforementioned amount of one billion." Mark said. "You know how business can be, the company always wants as much as possible." Mark said.

"Let's drop both numbers a bit, 35% for two hundred fifty million." Himura said. Mark smiled softly.

"72% and nine hundred fifty million." Mark said. "It is quite the sum." Mark said gently.

"We can agree on that." Himura said as he went into contemplation. "40% and two hundred million in funds." Himura said.

"68% nine hundred million." Mark responded with the same poker face that he's had since the negotiations started.

"45% with two hundred fifty million." Himura said.

"Look, the lowest I'm allowed to go is 65%, with that you can get eight hundred fifty million in investment. Himura flinched a little. 'I was actually told 60% was the absolute lowest, but 65% is the main target.' Mark thought to himself.

"63% and eight hundred thirty million." Himura said. Mark picked up a brief case which was set to his side and opened it, then grabbed a paper.

"In exchange for 63% of the Himura corporation, Izumi inc will give you eight hundred thirty million yen. The specified sum will be transferred in 5-7 workdays. When the funds are transferred, Himura corporation will do what was discussed previously in the exchanged emails from July 22 2011-July 30 2011." Mark stated as he read from the document.

Mark slid the document across the table to Himura. "This is a contract I got special permission to print out before the discussion today, does it all look right?" Mark asked.

"H-how did you... You predicted this outcome..." Himura said dejectedly.

"I just made a wild guess, that's all. I really am just trying to help you." Mark said. Himura sighed.

"Alright." He said as he put up his hand. The man on Himura's left grabbed his suit jacket and grabbed a pen from inside, then handed it to Himura, who proceeded to write his signature.

"Thank you very much, sir. It was a pleasure doing business. You will be sent a copy of this document in 3-5 workdays. I hope to work with you again." Mark said his rehearsed line as Himura slid the document back to Mark, who grabbed the document and placed it in his briefcase.

"Likewise." Himura said as he got up. Himura left and Mark sat there for a few extra minutes.

'He gave in way to easily...' Mark thought to himself.

...

Mark walked into the elevator and pressed the first-floor button, then, with a ding, the elevator doors closed. After thirty seconds, the elevator reached the lobby floor and Mark exited. He continued to the desk.

"Williams-senpai, the documents you requested have been collected, would you like them now, or do you want them sent to your house?" The receptionist asked.

"Please put them in an envelope and give them to me here." Mark said.

"It's already in an envelope. Let me just..." The girl said as she crouched down behind the desk to grab the envelope. "Ow!" The girl said as she bumped her head on the top of the desk as she came back up. "H-here you go..." The girl said as she handed the envelope to Mark and rubbed her own head with a look of embarrassment on her face.

"Thank you. Have a good day Amiya-san." Mark said as he began walking away.

"A-ah, th-thanks, you too!" She said as she was caught off guard by the sentiment.
