(Two days later)
'I can't just keep buying their loyalty with a few pieces of candy. Eventually, they'll realize they can get more or just straight up stop caring about it... I need to prevent that.' Elizabeth thought to herself as she paced around her room. 'They're not the brightest of the bunch so theoretically, they should continue working for at least another month, but what then? What's my end goal?' Elizabeth continued her thought process.
"Elizabeth, foods done!" Lizbeth called from the other room.
"Okay, I'll be there in a few minutes!" Elizabeth responded. 'I need a way to obligate them... No, I need power over them. Thing is, they are children and don't respect me... I keep hitting a wall... And forgetting that I'm also a child, those dreams are messing with me, but whatever. Even before those dreams I knew that I was definitely very different from others and thought more closely to adult, that much was obvious from the differences in our behavior...' Elizabeth's thought were cut short when the door was opened.
"It's been five minutes, let's go eat." Lizbeth said. Elizabeth nodded, seemingly still lost in thought, though only partially. Elizabeth followed Lizbeth to the table.
Once they had all eaten they heard a knock on the door. "I'll get it." Mark said as he stood up and walked to the door. He opened the door and there stood a woman, about five foot nine inches tall, with long light brown hair that reaches down to the middle of her back.
She's wearing a long black dress-like jacket and has sunglasses on her head above her eyes. She is also holding several bags in one hand. "You would not believe how punctual everything is here." She said.
"Trust me, I know." Mark said. "Anyway, come on in Kaitlyn." Mark said as he stepped to the side. Kaitlyn entered and immediately locked her eyes on Elizabeth.
"So this is my little neice~!" Kaitlyn said excitedly as she quickly walked up to Elizabeth's side and crouched to be on eye level.
"This is aunt Kaitlyn then?" Elizabeth asked as she looked at Lizbeth. Lizbeth nodded. She looked at Kaitlyn.
"You're probably hungry, we just finished eating so we still have some food from dinner out if you want some. The plates are in the cabinet on the left." Lizbeth said as she stood up from the table. Kaitlyn smiled and looked at Lizbeth.
"Thanks! I'll go get some now." Kaitlyn said as she stood up and began walking to the kitchen.
"She's rather pretty." Elizabeth noted.
"Well, she did model for a few years. Though, of course, she got bored with that and decided to do something else, and then something else, and so on and so forth." Lizbeth said as she picked up the dirty plates.
"Yep, I keep getting flash interests and then get bored after a few years. Actually, I was a brain surgeon a few years ago, didn't actually have the qualifications, but I was one of the best." Kaitlyn said as she approached the table and Lizbeth went to wash the dishes that she picked up. Elizabeth became confused.
"How did you get the job without the right qualifications?" Elizabeth asked. Kaitlyn grinned.
"You see, people are easy. All you have to do is look confident and appear well put together and they eat up your lies. Unless they're your dad or mom. I can never pull one over on them, well Lizbeth used to fall for some of my tricks, but not anymore. Anywho, so long as I fit those criteria, I would just act like I forgot my resume and tell them about my experience and schooling and give them the numbers for my different phones, then just mimic different voices to make them think they were talking to officials. Some would call me a liar and a cheat and sometimes they're right, but at the end of the day, I'm good at everything." Kaitlyn explained confidently.
"Not everything, just a lot of things." Mark said.
"Okay, that's fair. Though I can honestly say I was in the top thirty brain surgeons worldwide." Kaitlyn said.
"So, how old are you?" Elizabeth asked.
"It's rude to ask a lady her age, don't you know?" Kaitlyn said.
"She's thirty-two." Lizbeth said from the kitchen.
"Lizbeth! You weren't supposed to do that!" Kaitlyn said with a smile and a slightly playful tone. They both giggled a bit.
"It's good to see you again Kaitlyn" Lizbeth said with a smile.
"It's great to see you as well. Of course, that includes my brother. And I am very happy to meet you Elizabeth." Kaitlyn said with a light tone.
"It is nice to meet you as well, though I don't think I approve of your method of job hunting." Elizabeth said.
"Neither does your dad." Kaitlyn said laughing. "Oh! That's right, I got gifts for everyone!" Kaitlyn said as she fished through the bags she's been holding.
"You didn't have to." Lizbeth said as she finished with the dishes.
"Well, I wanted to, and I'll be going oldest to youngest." Kaitlyn said as she picked up a smaller bag from out of one of the bags. "For Mark, a bunch of notebooks and notepads as well as an assortment of pens and pencils." Kaitlyn said as she handed the bag to Mark.
"This'll be quite useful and these are some exquisite pens, where did you get them?" Mark asked.
"They're all mont blanc, I had a few lying around but I never used them, and I also got some newer ones as well." Kaitlyn said as she looked through the bags again, just to grab another smaller bag out of the bigger bags. "As for you Lizbeth, first of all, I got you some interesting information inside of a notebook, in fact, it's the notebook of that guy from the 50's that you are really interested in, found it on an auction, and apparently there're no copies of it. And aside from that, I got you some other information. I'll give it to you later, since it's a bit sensitive." Kaitlyn said.
"Thanks, I don't know what to say... This guy discovered ruins in France that were in incredible condition, but he was assassinated before he managed to tell anyone it's location, but he managed to catalog a major amount of his findings, but his notes have been missing for quite some time... This will be an interesting read!" Lizbeth said excitedly.
"And lastly, Elizabeth! I don't know much about your interests or behavior, so I got a lot of things hoping to hit with something. Kinda like throwing a bunch of darts at a dartboard and hoping for a bullseye. Anyway, there's books, notebooks, different types of electronics that can be picked apart, notepads, pencils, a laptop." Kaitlyn continued speaking clearly overwhelming Elizabeth with the information being spewed.
"She's going to spoil her." Lizbeth said as she walked over to Mark's side.
"Yup. but I think she deserves it." Mark said as Lizbeth laid her head on his shoulder.
"Several laser pointers, because those are just fun, batteries for anything that may need them, a small safe, several mechanical parts, voice recorders, blankets, sewing kits, knitting needles, crochet hooks, yarn, fabric, which is being delivered along with one of my bags-" Kaitlyn was cut off mid-sentence.
"Alright, why don't you let her look through it, it looks like her brains going to explode if you give her any more information." Lizbeth said with a slight chuckle.
"Hm? Oh! Yeah, sorry about that, got kind of carried away there. I'll leave these bags in her room, which one is it?" Kaitlyn asked. Lizbeth motioned her to follow and lead her to Elizabeth's room.
Elizabeth looked at Mark. "She's nice, but also rather informative." Elizabeth said lightly.
...
"Those books range from fantasy stories to advanced science... What does she think a child is interested in? She's lucky to have an unusual neice..." Mathew mumbled as he looked through his more recent memories.
