Demons were the most hated enemy of mankind. Not only they constantly sought to consume magic in all forms and states, they were also the defiler of worlds.
Restless and relentless, every death by their hands only serve to increase their overwhelming number.
These wandering undead were the result of their action. How the demons managed to enter this world despite the dimensional barrier remained in place was beyond Michael, but he knew that if he doesn't do anything, this world was heading towards certain doom.
But then again, was it really his problem? He was here only to seek justice for Eric Cromwell. He wasn't here to play hero, as he never had the desire to be one in the first place.
Furthermore, this wasn't his world, and therefore, it was not his responsibility.
The inhabitants of this world had defended their home successfully despite the constant incursions by the demon race, so there was no reason to believe that they would not be able to do so again. And to be honest, humanity was not weak, and if pushed into the corner, they would surprise even the devil himself.
"I know that you are here," the demon spoke up, "why do you hide from me when we are of the same side?"
That was partially true. Undead were merely servants of the demons. One of many servants they had within their legion, which grew with every successful conquest.
This world would either served them or be destroyed.
Since the demon wasn't going to just go away, Michael decided to confront it. Even though there was a chance that he might die, it was well worth the risk if he could learn something about their race and maybe, he could gain a new species for his world.
"We are not of the same side," Michael said as he stepped into the moonlight, revealing himself with some hesitations. It was quite a bold move, but Michael was sure that he had no choice. Therefore, if he continued to hide, he would only waste precious time.
The demon eyed him and frowned deeply. "Yes. We are not. You are not who you appeared to be, and I can see beyond that appearance lies a powerful spirit. I believe that you are a transmigrator."
Michael was surprised even if his emotion did not express itself upon his bony face.
"You know about transmigrator?" Michael questioned.
The demon nodded and continued to analyze Michael. It was impressed with the aura radiating from Michael. He had never felt such an ominous and powerful aura on a simple skeleton before.
"Of course, I do," the demon confirmed. "We, Hellions, have fought transmigrator countless of times in the past. Whenever a world such as this world becomes our target, a group of transmigrated heroes would rise up to fight and banish us. It will not be any different this time around."
Michael was surprised once more. "Sounds like a really shitty plotline for a video game."
"Hahaha. Only half true. It is a game, and it has been played since the dawn of creations," the demon said. "I am Balthazar Leviathan. May I know your true name, so that I can claim my victory over yours or know who my slayer is."
Demon did not die when they were killed. Their soul would be sent back to their dimension until they could physically reformed. It was one of their greatest innate ability, as such, they would only become stronger and more experienced with time.
"You are awfully humble for a demon," Michael said and pondered whether he should give this demon his name. He was inclined to since it seemed to be right. He also realized that Balthazar might not be the name of this demon, and didn't it ask for his true name instead of just his name?
"And you can call me Microsoft," Michael added.
Balthazar narrowed his eyes before roaring in laughter. "Fine. Fine. Microsoft, it is. Now die!"
A fireball immediately crashes against Michael, sending him flying across the field. Balthazar followed up immediately, blasting forwards and drawing his flaming demon blade.
He crashed the blade against Michael only to find his attack was blocked by a powerful magic barrier, forcing him to immediately distance himself.
"Instant cast. Impressive! Whoever your patron god or goddess is, they must be powerful to grant you such an ability along with your seemingly vast mana pool," Balthazar said before taking flight and rapid casted several spell simultaneously from the air.
Michael did the same, forming multiple elemental barriers to fend off the elemental attacks. While his barriers were being bombarded, he channeled his vast power to form a magical array.
It takes at least half a minute to fully power the array even with his power, and as soon as it activated, Balthazar fell straight to the ground.
"Void Zone?" Balthazar noticed the magical array covering the entire area. "I admire your spirit, but if you think you can best me in single combat alone, you have another thing coming."
Balthazar charged at Michael, swinging his sword.
With all form of magic nulled within the Void Zone, Michael had no choice but to block the blade with his body. It would have gone right through him if there wasn't a steel block within his ribcage. Seizing the chance, Michael grabbed hold of the disenchanted blade.
Balthazar was speechless when his blade shattered into countless colorful confetti, which then swirled in the air before being absorbed into Michael. "What was that? And what have you done to my blade?"
"I am sure I can best you in combat, but I would have wasted a lot of time in doing so. I decide to not fight you at all," Michael said and reached out to grab the demon. In an instant, Balthazar was reduced to countless pixels which then absorbed into Michael.
Michael looked at his hand and clench it. The power that Deus bestowed upon him wasn't magic, and it was beyond overpowered. It could instantly "kill" anyone he touched.
Furthermore, Michael had gained a greater demon soul.
