Chapter 25 - Obtaining Greater Mortal Souls

Michael had switched avatar because he wished to hold a proper conversation with the five teenagers, and the avatar that he was using was the first avatar that he had acquired.

It was the body that he was born into, back on Earth.

Using that same body, Michael exited his world and returned to the outside world as a test. If it costed him nothing to switch his avatar within his world then maybe, he could use his world as a staging area, as he currently did not have sufficient MP to switch avatar in the outside world.

Sadly, the moment that Michael returned to the outside world, he resumed his skeletal form wearing rags, proving that no such loophole existed, at least not for something like that.

Michael was only alone for a brief moment.

Window, the undead amalgamation, had obeyed his order, completely disappearing from view, but it quickly returning once Michael appeared out of nowhere.

"You have returned, Great Microsoft. What is your bidding?" Window requested while kneeling before Michael as its master and creator. "Shall I hunt down every living thing in the surrounding? I was about to do that to a small army detachment due south of here, but I sense that you have returned, so I have returned."

Michael took in the provided information before letting out a sigh. He wasn't too sure what to do with Window, and he certainly could not allow it to roam freely and slaughter innocent people simply living things were the enemy.

In addition, Window was an undead, and anyone it managed to kill would become an undead. Not just a normal undead either thanked to Window being very powerful.

The more powerful the undead was, the more powerful the raised undead would be.

Raise dead was the ability that all undead innately had, and if used smartly, it could literally drown the entire world in undead.

Michael decided to stash Window in his world. It was a smart choice, considering that it would not be able to do any harm to anyone without him around. Furthermore, he could always return it to the real world afterwards if he chose.

Another option was to disassemble it into pixel and gain its model to spawn within his world. However, it felt like a waste, considering that Window was a very powerful undead.

"Stay still," Michael ordered. He placed a hand on the undead amalgamation before entering his world and taking it along for the ride.

Within his world, Michael was no longer a skeleton. Instead, he was human like before he attempted to check whether there was a loophole he could use. His current avatar did not really surprise him, as it did make sense since he was human when he exited his world previously.

Michael was still surprised, however. Surprised at Window, who immediately lashed out at him, killing him instantly. Of course, since this was his world, he could not die. If he was somehow killed, he could always respawn himself.

Sadly, Anna and her friends were not like Michael. They became the victims after he was killed.

And before Michael could spawn to stop Window, Anna was torn apart alongside with her unconscious friends in a horrifying display of bloods and guts.

Anna could barely let out half a scream before her head and limbs were torn apart, brutally. The others died in their sleep the moment their heads were crushed or stomped. They felt absolutely no pain, so it was a blessing in disguise.

Honestly, Anna did not feel much pain either since she died far too quickly to even register pain.

"What… what the hell are you doing!?" Michael roared the instant he spawned back into his world. "I did not give you the order to kill them, goddamn it!"

Window glared at Michael before grinning madly. "Order? I only take order from the Great Microsoft, not some puny human who can resurrect himself! Let me see how many times you can do that?"

It was then that Michael understood his mistake, and he was unable to stop Window from turning him into a pile of guts and gores, but it was not because he could react in time. It was due to Michael being unable to cast any spell within his current avatar.

Human of Earth did not have any magical power, and it reflected upon his choice of avatar.

Good thing that Window did not play with its kills, or it would have been incredibly painful for Michael to die in such a gruesome way.

Michael decided not to respawn since he would get himself killed again. Instead, he checked the avatar window to switch back to his skeleton form, which would allow him to wield magic and stop Window from rampaging in his world.

Unfortunately, there was no skeleton available on the list of avatars that Michael could use. There was a reason for that, and Michael understood why. He had never pixelated himself as a skeleton. Thus, it was not available.

Being unable to return to a skeleton with near unlimited magical power was a problem. Without being the said skeleton, Window would not obey him and would kill him the instant that he respawns.

Michael was thinking about using the demon form he acquired from pixelating Balthazar, but the new acquired souls had caught his attention.

He had just gained five greater mortal souls along with five new models in his asset library. They were obviously the soul and body of Anna and her four friends.

They all had died due to his mistake. In his defense, the mistake felt like the right thing at the time, as he did not want to kill indiscriminately.

Michael had never imagined that Window could not recognized who he was when he was in his human form. It seemed switched avatar masked the person perfectly.

It was good to know. It was also good to know that whoever died in his realm was for him to claim. He now had five greater mortal soul and one greater demon soul.

While not much, they could be put to good use.

A very good use.
