Chapter 72 - The Saviors

"A Savior is someone who wants to aid in the war," Kagashi said. "Our group of Saviors do whatever they can to help people during the impacts of the war between the gods and the demons. Our leader, or one of the Sins, came up with this idea as a way to end the war."

"Have you guys had any success?" I asked.

"So far...it's been nothing but traded blows."

"I see."

Kagashi explained to me and my party that the Sin that leads them, who is the Sin of Gluttony, has shared his powers with all of his followers and gave them the ability to fight back against the gods in their own game. And while they did inflict noticeable damage upon the gods, they've also received their fair share of grieving casualties.

"So what exactly happened to Kaen," I asked Kagashi. "You know, the so-called god who betrayed your world?"

"Kaen turned out to be another Sin," Kagashi said. "She easily manipulated us with her unbearable magic and controlled us like meer puppets. Her magic also seems to work most effectively with men."

Another Sin. Controlling magic. Most effective against men.

"Let me guess: The Sin of Lust?" I asked sarcastically.

"Unfortunately...yes." Wrath said, rubbing his head as if he had a headache.

"Dad, why did you say it like that?" Xylvia asked.

"Well...let's just say that Lust and I aren't exactly on the same page when it comes to certain things."

Some weird luck for us to find two Sins in this world, though I wish that they were both pacifistic.

"But why do you want me to join your group of Saviors," I asked. "I mean, you barely know me and-"

"Do you want to stop the gods?" Kagashi asked me, cutting me off.

"I...well...yes." I answered.

"What's you're motive for wanting to stop them?" Kagashi asked.

"I...well... I just want to live my life and not let myself be controlled day in and day out. I want to find somewhere to settle down and live the rest of my life with my friends and loved ones. I want the fighting, the struggle, to just end already."

All of that was truly what I wanted. Nothing more, nothing less.

"If that is truly what you want, then please fight with us." Kagashi said as he offered me his hand.

I new that challenging the gods would be an extremely risky road to ride on, but helping the gods was something that would drive me and my friends deeper into trouble. I looked back at my group. They all had smiles of courage and approval.

I chuckled.

"I guess we're going to be challenging fate once again," I said to myself. "Alright, you have yourself a deal."

I took Kagashi's hand and gave it a firm shake. If I do end up going down, then I'd rather go down fighting for and with my friends, than being ordered around with no control over my own life.

"Congratulations Hiro and friends," Kagashi said. "You have now become Saviors."

Right smack-dab in the middle of the underground community was a building that stretch all the way up to the ceiling of the underground cave. The building, unlike all the other structures, was actually painted and painted a snow white with jet black streams all over. The windows were hollow and dark so we couldn't see inside the building, and the only way in was through a guarded front door.

Kagashi led us to the front door where five guards awaited us.

"Who are the newbies?" one of the guards asked.

"Our new recruits." Kagashi said.

The guard took a few glances at us, then gave a brief nod.

"Alright, you're good to go." one of the guards said.

"Thank you very much," Kagashi said with a bow. "Alright, you four. Come with me."

The inside of the building was decorated with paintings of sunsets and night skies filled with beautifully painted stars, flowers, kids drawings, and weapons of many different calibers. There were iron stairs that led up to many floors which had many rooms on each floor. There was even a downstairs that led to another area of the building, and deeper down into the underground bunker.

"Where are the other Saviors?" Wrath asked.

"They're all downstairs waiting for us." Kagashi said.

Kagashi opened the door that led downstairs and motioned for us to head down with him.

"Hey, are you sure that Xylvia will be ok?" I asked Kagashi.

Before we talked about the Savior stuff, I told Kagashi to go and find Xylvia a doctor to take care of her. I know that they're doctors, but I still can't help but worry...

"There is no need for you to worry," Kagashi said. "She is left in good care. She'll be alright."

"Just try and trust him Hiro," Leonna said. "I may not be as concerned about her as you are, but I also do worry about her well-being. However, if what Kagashi said about these doctors is true, then she should be back on her feet in less than twenty-four hours."

"Yeah but...I...yeah. Yeah, you're right."

I decided to just try and put my concern in the back of my head and focus on the next objective.

The stairs that led down didn't take us as far as I thought it would take us, but we did stop in front of a door that Kagashi started to unlock with a key.

"Alright, behind this door are the Saviors." Kagashi said.

I took a deep breath and braced myself for what I was about to see. Kagashi unlocked the door with his key and opened it to reveal...the Saviors?

"Wait...I don't get it," I said. "There's...only six of you?"
