I was overwhelmed from all of the things that Gleam was saying. The blade that I'm holding belongs to Devil. The blade accepted me as it's wielder. I was now supposed to bear the responsibility of deciding the fate of this world. I couldn't take it all in at once.
"STOOOOOOOOOOP!!" I shouted.
Leonna looked at me like I'd just killed her pet dog. Gleam just simply looked at me.
"HIRO," Leonna shouted. "What the hell is wrong with you?! You can't just scream at a goddess like that!"
"Relax Leonna. It's alright," Gleam said. "I just sprung all of this on him. It's my fault for overwhelming him."
I took a few deep breaths to calm myself down.
"Can you please explain everything to me?" I asked Gleam.
"What would you like to know?" Gleam asked.
"First, I want to know more about the blade. Why did it choose me as it's wielder?"
"As you may already know, your willpower determines how powerful your strike will become when combining magic with your sword. However, this blade is different. It already possesses magical power, a very dark one too. What the blade requires is only one kind of will. The more powerful that will is, the more stronger it will be."
"And what will does this blade require?" I asked.
"It requires the will...to kill..."
I simply just stood there when those words left her mouth. I didn't speak. I wasn't even fazed by that response. It made too much sense for me to be shocked about it.
"Heh...I figured." I said.
Leonna stood where she was as well, but she didn't have the same expression that I had. Her expression was just complete shock. I could tell that she was freaking out as well. I couldn't blame her for that though.
"That blade responded to you because you had a strong will to kill," Gleam said. "You are now the wielder of the Devil's Blade."
It just kept making more and more sense. I did have a will to kill someone. I wanted to kill that figure so badly. He hurt Xylvia and kill a little girl in front of me, so of course I wanted to get my blade covered in blood. I wanted to see him tremble in fear as I killed every last one of his comrades. I wanted to hear him scream in agony as I hacked off each and every one of his limbs. I wanted to kill him in the most painful and bloodiest way possible.
"Hiro...Hiro...HIRO!!"
I snapped back to my senses and saw that my sword and I were engulfed in black flames.
"It must have been hard for you," Gleam said. "You had to go through quite a lot, and you can barely keep yourself sane right now."
The black flames eventually went out and turned into grey, dissolving ashes around me.
"I-I'm fine." I said.
"Then why did that retched flame engulf you like that?" Gleam asked.
I knew she was right. I just didn't want to believe that I was slowly starting to lose my mind.
"You must really miss Xylvia." Gleam said.
"I do." I said.
"And you must really want to kill those guys that took her."
"I do."
I wanted to get Xylvia back. I would sacrifice my very own limbs if I had to.
"This is my second question," I said to Gleam. "Why did Devil start this war? In fact, who is Devil?"
"Devil...was born from a human...and a god."
This did shock me.
"Look who's shocked now." Leonna said.
"Us gods and goddesses are only allowed to guide the people of this world, but we are forbidden from interfering with it. Devil had godlike powers. Since Devil was also half human, Devil was allowed to use those godlike powers whenever. This angered the Council of Heaven, so they sent a few gods to execute Devil. But instead, Devil went into hiding somewhere in the world and sent the Army of Darkness to conquer this world. Since we gods and goddesses couldn't interfere with worlds, they had no choice but to leave."
"I'm guessing she used her godlike powers to create this sword." I said holding up my sword.
Gleam nodded her head.
"It sounds like Devil did more than just start a war on this war. Devil just started a war against the gods." I said.
"Which is why we must kill Devil before everything gets destroyed." Leonna said.
"Both of you are correct," Gleam said. "Devil is pure evil and must be vanquished."
"Hey, umm...is Devil's name really Devil?"
"No, but it's been so long since I've heard her name. I can't remember it."
"Last question. How did Devil lose this blade?" I asked.
"If I had to guess, it's because Devil wanted to find someone who was compatible to take over their territory."
Gleam didn't seem to really know much about Devil's motives. At least I had some of my questions answered.
"Thank you Gleam." I said.
"Wait a sec," Leonna said. "What does this have to do with Hiro being our advantage?"
"He has the Devil's blade, so he now has the power to control the Army of Darkness. If we can figure out away to control Devil's army, then we can put an end to this war once and for all."
"But Hiro still can't fight properly," Leonna said. "His dark flame power can only get him so far against those monsters."
"Which is exactly why you need to train him first."
"Yeah but-"
"Hang on." I said interrupting them.
"What is it?" Gleam asked.
"I'll help you with this plan, but Xylvia is my top priority. I'm getting her back first before anything else."
Gleam went silent for a few moments, but then she nodded.
"Very well Hiro," Gleam said. "Save Xylvia first. I put a lot of effort into making sure that she wanted to live the adventurous life that she always wanted."
"Thank you." I said.
I turned to face Leonna.
"There's no need to convince me," she said. "I'm with you all the way."
"Alright then," I said. "Let's get our training session started already."
