Chapter 5 - Party

"Now who imagined that being a baby was so relaxing? Not me." Curtis thought. "Other than being cleaned and bathed, that was still humiliating for me, I'll get them someday. I would never have thought that this is the kind of life I have always dreamed of.

Eat. Sleep. Poop. Repeat. Now, this has been my routine every day. I only need to cry and everything in the world shall be mine. It has been about, maybe, hmmmmm..... 30 days since I came into this world.

Also, I have somewhat learned a few words, from listening to the talk of the people around me, My mother is named Martha, my father is Jacob, and the little girl who is apparently my sister is Elise, she is so cute, never change! And lastly, my big brother who Elise refers to as *Unggoy* whatever that means is apparently named Clay." he was trying to recount everything he has learned. Making a mental note of everything.

"God this language is so hard," he complained.

The language of this world is slowly coming to me, keyword: slowly, its been one hell of a learning experience. Who would have thought that being exposed to it every day will let me absorb it, granted that with this baby body, I can only endure a few wake hours each time, but it's better than just idling around.

With every waking minute, I try to absorb what I can from my caretakers, my yayas, as Clay liked to call them. They were a godsend, especially the little maid, she loved talking to me about her day, I learned most of my current vocabulary from her.

As the days go by, I learned that I was, apparently in a less advanced world. The lights were from candles and torches, there wasn't any running water, and also the cooking was still considered primitive. He considered himself to be in a different world.

He was so used to seeing the magnificence of technology.

TV!

Internet!

Por-

Curtis' thoughts were interrupted with Millie coming into the room.

"Ohh there she is, my favorite little maid" Curtis smiled. Making an adorable sound as he did so.

"Hellow liittle angwel, Dwoo ywoo neet anyting" Millie baby-talked, she loved to do that. Made her day a notch better.

Curtis always enjoyed Millie's company; she is sweet and cute in a way only belonging to her. The part about her being small made it so much better.

Now Curtis wasn't a lolicon by any chance. He just appreciated her pure and carefree spirit.

"Now how is my little angel Millie?" Martha chimed, walking through the door. Since her recovery, she was by Curtis' side, tending to his every need.

"You need to sleep my little Curtis, it's already past your bedtime," Martha said, taking Curtis from Millie, and the lulling started.

"Anything for you mom." Curtis thought, closing his eyes. In just a few days he had already been captivated by his new mother. She was caring, she was kind, she knew what a mother should do.

Actions do speak louder than words.

He won't make any promises, not as his previous parents did. He would show them how much he appreciated and loved them when he could. If only he could say the words *Mama* now, he would. Just to show her how much she meant to him.

...

Curtis awoke to a white space. He was sleeping in his comfortable crib just awhile ago.

"Where am I? Wait... did i just speak?" Curtis looked around, seeing nobody else around him. The language he used to know echoed out.

He looked down and saw just pure white, no legs, and no feet, just a blurry white space where his body should be.

"What the hell." his thoughts rang out in the vicinity.

Looking around he saw nothing, he couldn't feel his body. And having no idea where he was. He tried to will his body to move forward, and it did!

He moved his body for quite some time, and found no way out, though; he did come across something like a screen. He bumped into it before; it was a crystal clear screen with nothing on it. From one side it was clear, from the other it was a shade of silver.

He moved in the opposite direction, trying to find something else in the white space, but wherever he went, he always ended up in front of the screen.

"Hmmmmm, where am I? How do I leave this place?" Curtis' thoughts rang out. He was getting agitated, he didn't even know how long he had been here for.

But then, he heard something.

*bzzzzt* *bzzzzzt*

He turned around and saw the screen flashing. Like an old tv that was just switched on, it buzzed.

*bzzzzzzzzzt*

On the screen, something came into view.

He moved closer.

The fuzzy screen arranged itself into a scene.

What came into view is a scene of a man, eating inside an airplane; he was enjoying his favorite dish; fillet mignon with some red wine. The scene looked familiar to him. Even the food.

It was one of his few comfort foods that he always defaulted to. Curtis thought to himself as he watched.

Wait…. How did he know that?

The scene continued to play.

After finishing his meal, he asked for another glass of wine to enjoy while reading.

He too, loved some wine while reading.

Curtis grew confused at that point. He was similar to the man on the screen. Too similar.

The stewardess agreeing went into the pantry and pulled out a wine bottle, after refilling the glass, she pulled out a small bottle from her vest, emptying the contents into the glass, thereafter bringing the glass back to the man.

Curtis paled, if he had a face right now, it would have been sweating.

The man didn't notice anything, he pulled out his tablet and opened a file, and started reading. He robotically reached for the wine glass and held it at his side.

Curtis seeing everything, screamed in his mind. "DON'T DRINK THAT!"

But his efforts were fruitless

The man drank the wine. After a few minutes, he closed his tablet and prepared to sleep.

Right as the man was preparing to sleep, everything became clearer, the scenes inside the screen became more lifelike, and the face of the man sleeping became clearer and clearer.

It was as if he was transported inside the screen himself. With a step, he was right beside the sleeping man.

It was him. Curtis went livid. The man he was seeing on the screen was himself. Someone killed him.

It explained how he woke up in another world, he had died. He didn't even know he was going to die at that time.

But why? Who?

He thought he died because of an accident or because of something in his health. But now, he knew, he was murdered.

These questions ran through his mind. What did he do to deserve death? He was a philanthropist; everything he did in his life was for the benefit of others. Who would kill someone like him?

By the time he calmed down. He was back outside the screen. The scene was showing that he has been discovered to be dying, pale skin, unresponsive to the stewards trying to care for him. The one that killed him was standing in the background, acting concerned, she was the one who reported his condition.

And then something changed, the scenes on the screen froze.

The screen was shaking; it kept shaking and shaking until.

*crack*

A crack straight down the middle, the screen split apart, splintering into countless fragments, dispersing throughout the space.

And suddenly it appeared. A black hole formed in the crack. The world got sucked right in the middle where the hole was.

Curtis felt the sucking sensation, he got pulled right in the middle of the space, and even the white background got swept right in, revealing only nothingness, right as everything was going to black he closed his eyes.

Curtis opened his eyes and saw the ceiling, the same ceiling he's been waking up to for a month now.

"Why did I have to die? Everything was going great; I've helped a lot of people, I'm admired by everyone around me, what reason is there to kill me?" Curtis was tearing up. "WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY?" he shouted at the heavens.

Memories of his previous life had flooded back, everything he had tried to forget passed through his eyes. And as those memories came and went, so did the feelings he had experience with them.

"Little angel what's the problem?" Millie came running. "Now now, stop crying, I'm here" Millie consoled him as she put him into her arms, lulling the crying baby.

Shouting out does help, even if it only came out as a baby's cries.

After a few minutes, Curtis finally had enough. He couldn't really do anything about it now. He's in a faraway world, in a less advanced time. He would have to face reality sooner or later, and it was better to bury that grievance now. The sooner he did, the sooner he will get better.

"Now let's go get you cleaned up, there's a *handaan* to be held for you later, your *lolo't lola are gonna be arriving soon." Millie said words that Curtis' has only heard a few times, his curiosity won over his sadness about his death. He was alive now. He'd make the most of it this time.

After his bath, he was being dressed by Martha in a soft white jumpsuit. "Very nice." Curtis thought. It was made out of cotton so it was very comfy. After a few turns, Martha had enough and picked him up.

"You look so handsome my angel, let's go meet your *lolo't lola*."

A few moments of walking later, "ohhhh *handaan* means grandparents and *lolo't lola* is a party." seeing the tables filled with food and chairs organized. "I'm the best." Curtis thought. But a moment later he was proven wrong.

"Little angel, meet your lolo't lola." Martha smiled, facing her parents.

"Uhhhh. So much for being the best." Curtis tried to put on his best smile.
